I could not believe how ugly the comments about Hillary & Obama were on the Edwards website. I tried to talk to them, but I am not sure I was able to break through on the many distortions. They said Obama claimed he voted against the war instead of course that he was not in the U.S. Senate, however he did publicly speak out against it. I was surprised because I always felt that if my first candidate of choice, Obama, had to drop out that I would go to Edwards. After reading their blogs I am not sure that he is instilling the kind of people I would want to have joined. I am so glad that I got it right the first time.
I suggest you go on the site, I don't think any of them are going to go Hillary's way either, but the ones that are blogging do not like Obama. What I found most interesting is that I was listening to the Ed Shultz and Randi Rhodes show and all but one of the Edward's people that called were going to now vote for Obama.
What can we do to help the Edwards folks come over?
I am a 49 year old white female and I strongly support Barack Obama after hearing him at the 2004 DNC. I was able to explain to two or three other women (Clinton supporters) at work that Hillary has too much baggage to win against McCain. Also, she voted for the war so she could not be the anti-war candidate. Then when she pulled what she has in Nevada & Florida I have come to distrust her. I voted for Clinton twice and simply can not deal with more division.
What is worse now is the petty claim by the National Organization for Women that Obama snubbed her at the State of the Union is beyond belief. Women need to get the word out about just how absurd that claim is. In addition, a former president of the Illinois Chapter of NOW has endorse Obama and her video is on Ytube.
I believe if we speak to the "hillary" supporters with real facts in a calm manner and keep emotion and polorization out of the discussion we can convince our fellow women that the past is past and needs to stay there.
Please decide how to best convince all women, but it seems especially white females like myself who are not turning out in the numbers that we would like.
Thanks
