We need to cut into clinton's base
.... to me that means talking to people when they say they are HRC supporters - we have to win them over. What has worked VERY well for me is when they say they are supporting clinton (not capitalized on purpose), I sheepishly ask, "Don't you like Obama?"
They always either say they do - and then tell you what they like better about Hillary OR what makes them concerned about Obama --- either way, we can speak with them about the issues.
If it's experience: I agree - it's true, she says she has 35 years experience --- listening to the news, you'd think Obama just got off the boat, but in reality, between his 8 years as Illinois senator and 3 years as US senator he has gotten over 280 bills passed (I think it's 283) - she has 20. You'd think it would be the other way around.... it's probably because Barack is so respected by both republicans and democrats that he is able to get so much more done.... and, we need to get some things done --- that's one of the reasons I support Obama.
If it's insurance: I agree - it would be nice if everyone could be insured, like her ads say...did you see the ad where she says her plan covers everyone and Barack's says he leaves people out? It's true. He does....but, so does she. The people in MA who are like me, and self insured have had to pay an annual fine to OPT out of insurance because their rates went up. I spoke with one guy who had his rates go up 28% in one year! With Barack's plan, he says the average family will SAVE $2500 a year! So, with her people who are currently insured will no longer be insured (some of them) everyone's rates will go up...that includes your employers if he's buying your insurance...and with Barack's plan everyone, including your employer SAVES..... to me, that's another example of his excellent JUDGEMENT and we do need JUDGEMENT ....especially considering all the rough years we're going to have ahead of us, no matter who is in the white house.
If it's National Security: Did you know we won the American's abroad votes? I know, it never seemed to be mentioned in the media... well, they think Obama is the ONLY candidate who can bring back the respect America once enjoyed. They are afraid of Clinton and more embarrassing years --- plus, she showed the wrong JUDGEMENT with the war...with all the rough years we will have ahead, I don't feel comfortable with the fear she'll continue making bad judgement calls.
The only other thing I have heard is the Muslim smear....we all know how to undo that one.I often talk about how impressed I am that he has gotten the youth involved, and how important that is --- our future WILL BE in their hands.
Ok - that's what I do... I'm just offering this in case it may help anyone. We have to go after her base....and this is how I am doing it. I got several of her supporters yesterday, and plan to get more today.
Also, some people who do support Obama weren't planning on going because they think they have to stay there for hours.... you can always check with the county and see how they're doing it... at some, they only have to check in and leave.
