A poem- "A Message To Senator Barack Obama"

A poem- I wrote , hope you like it, denise

                        "A Message
             To Senator Barack Obama"

               Dear Senator Obama,
We know full well that You are NO Osama!
             Yes, we agree, you Are
     'Articulate, good-looking and clean'
       This we can glean from watching you
                   On the TV screen!
         But you won our hearts with your
    Charisma, honesty and super intelligence,
     Along with your wit and sheer eloquence!

    You boldly and courageously opposed
          Going to war with Iraq In 2002
             Saying, it would be
        "A dumb and rash thing to do",
            But this Administration,
            Refused to listen to you!

        In 2007, on a cold February day,
         You announced your Candidacy
For the Presidency of the U.S. of A.
That historic moment in Springfield, Illinois,
          Warmed our Hearts and
        Filled us with Great Joy!
You reminded us of Lincoln's famous words,
" A House divided against itself can not stand"
          So you asked us to take our
'Common hopes and common dreams'
   And work together hand in hand!

     In Selma, Alabama on that solemn
    Anniversary of "Bloody Sunday",
You spoke about the 'Moses Generation'
who valiently fought for Human Dignity,
        In face of tremendous Adversity!
    And that We, the 'Joshua Generation'
        Must remember and honor
              Their great Legacy
       And continue their fine work,
   Not just sit back in Complacency!

         Now on the Senate floor,
          You have made your case
        Before the whole human race,
      Saying 'a Surge in troops in Iraq
     Will not cause the violence to cease!
     Nor will more lives lost, lead to
                 Lasting Peace,
         'Only a Surge in Diplomacy
    Can truly forge a New Democracy!'

Finally, there's something else we must say,
         We are so grateful to you
      For having shared your life story
              with us in such a
     Profound and meaningful way!

     Your Dear Mother would be so proud
          to know that you are fulfilling
       'The Dreams From Your Father'
               And so much more
           While infusing in us all
           "The Audacity of Hope",
     The Hope for a brighter tomorrow,
Something we simply can not ignore!
