I just shipped my 20 postcards for the amazing initiative by group PostcardsFromEuropeForObama. I custom printed the postcards with pictures I took of my town in the north east of Italy.
I hope the message will reach the heart and mind of several potential Obama supporters. Congratulations to the PostcardsFromEuropeForObama group for the brilliant idea. It has been great to participate, now it's all up to the Italian postal service to deliver the package to Clarelynn Rose in Edinburgh.
The speech Barack Obama gave this evening in Berlin profoundly touched the heart of every European citizen, the heart of those who suffered from the deterioration of the transatlantic relationship under Bush administration.
It surely touched mine. I am honored the candidate for President Barack Obama took the time to visit the main partners of the European Union (EU), our new great home in the Old continent. Considering that foreign policy may not be the top issue for many potential voters in the US, it confirms once more how strongly Obama believes in his message of hope and change. Politics can be the way to change the world in a better way.
I appreciated Obama took the chance to remind us all how deep is the bond that link Europe to the US. I grew up hearing the stories of my grandfather liberation from the imprisonment camp by US troops in 1945. My town has been liberated by US troops on the very last day of WW2.
I close with this passage from the speech "In this new century, Americans and Europeans alike will be required to do more – not less. Partnership and cooperation among nations is not a choice; it is the one way, the only way, to protect our common security and advance our common humanity."
I'm Davide Bedin, an Italian citizen resident in Italy.
Barack Obama is the greatest chance the USA and the World have to turn the page on the book of history, opening a new chapter of hope and political stability.
I will be in the US at the end of October 2008, few days before Election day 2008. I would like to live this magic moment by giving my small help and time to the Obama organization, volunteering on the last days of this long Presidential campaign.
According to FEC rules, as a foreigner I cannot get involved in any fundraising activities but it seems I can help in many other different ways. My current plan is to fly into Washington DC and support the organization in Virginia. In the following weeks I will get in touch with groups in the area to understand if and how can I help the campaign during those last busy days.
I wish to see Lincoln Memorial once more just before flying back to Italy, knowing that another senator from Illinois will be the next President of the United States.
