This afternoon, President Bush called on the Cuban people to chnage their form of government. This afternoon, I'm asking that we change ours.
I'm refering to the war in Iraq. The Congressional Busget office today issued its financial report on the war. To date, we've spent $463 billion on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The president has requested another $196 Billion for next year. The CBO has estimated that by the year 2017 (ten years from today) we will have spent $2.4 Trillion on the war efforts. Iraq represent 85% of that spending. The debt service, interest payments for that war, is estimated to be 705 billion by 2017.
Senator Obama is correct. There is a better way. We should bring the troopps home Now (within 12 months) and stop the war. We don't have to wait until next year to make change however. We can do so this afternoon. I'll ask everyine working or supportin the campaign to write their Congressman and Senator(s) this afternoon requesting that they just vote NO on war funding. No more money for the War in Iraq.
Lets act togther now so that we don't bankrupt ourselves and future generations.
