Our turn out for Saturday was pretty good. Thank you for Marcia and Carol for all of your help. We registered two new voters, changed a couple people's addresses and even had a couple people change their party affiliation (both to Dems). Overall it was a great event.Unfortunately, I was forced to cancel today's event at the very last minute due to a scheduling snafu. When I set the times for this event I went by those on the library's website. However, it appears that that information was not correct so rather than wait outside for two hours without any traffic or try to regroup everyone at noon, I decided to cancel and reschedule for another date. I will immediately start looking at doing another event. This time my hope is to use a grocery store or the like to get a more diverse traffic. If anyone has any contacts at any grocery stores in the West Boynton area can you please let me know. That would be greatly appreciated.
Mr. Obama has inspired me to follow a long held dream of mine which I never really thought I'd have the courage to pursue -- to hold public office. Yesterday, I filed papers with the PBC Supervisor of Elections to run for Democratic Precinct Committeeperson for my precinct. OK - so it isn't a major (or even medial) public office, but for me it was a big step. So hopefully, I will be the Florida's next Democractic Committeeperson for Precinct 3104 (side note: I don't like the terms Committeeman and Committeewoman - but that's just me).I'm actually hoping someone runs against me so that I will get to see my name on the ballot and will be able to campaign. I know that also means I could lose, but it is exciting either way.
