The quote below shows yet again why I am a supporter of Barack Obama. He will stand up for working americans and not allow corporations to rule this great country any more.
"I stand with the writers. The Guild's demand is a test of whether media corporations are going to give writers a fair share of the wealth their work creates or continue concentrating profits in the hands of their executives. I urge the producers to work with the writers so that everyone can get back to work."
This bill would allow working Americans an easier path to joining a union.
AFL-CIO President John J. Sweeney Feb. 8 officially kicked off the labor federation's campaign to fight for passage of H.R. 800.
Addressing the 88-member AFL-CIO General Board, which was meeting during the dedication of the Lane Kirkland Center at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Md., Sweeney said the labor movement must "all join together in a campaign like none we've ever run" to pass the legislation now pending in Congress and restore the "power of working people to come together for a better life."
I believe that in order for America to truly unite as one culture and one people the divide between the rich and the working class must be shrunk. There are two distinct classes in this country and those are the have little and the have two much. This divide is getting greater each and every year and only a President with the guts to stand up to BIG BUSINESS and stand behind the worker can fix this great divide.
The quote below was made by Obama when he declared his intent to run for President in 2008.
"And as our economy changes, let's be the generation that ensures our nation's workers are sharing in our prosperity. Let's protect the hard-earned benefits their companies have promised. Let's make it possible for hardworking Americans to save for retirement. And let's allow our unions and their organizers to lift up this country's middle-class again."
