Perhaps it’s time for Senator Barack Obama to rally the troops. He has something like 2 million, if not more, donors that are supporting his candidacy financially; which means he has direct access to them. Why not use that base of support to help victims of Gustav the hurricane charging into New Orleans and surrounding areas on Monday.
I was reminded of a Saturday Night Live sketch that Senator John McCain did back in 2002 last night on The Verdict with Dan Abrams. McCain tried to start a singing career.
He wasn’t bad to be honest but the one song he partially sang gave me the idea of great idea for a campaign ad.
Imagine seeing Senator Barack Obama, a couple of professional basketball players, a couple of movie stars (man or woman), another politician or two, a business man/woman, etc..., all of them playing against one another in a basketball game. Would you pay big bucks to see that? I know I would.
Let’s assume they would like major control of any future energy plan, just as they have now with oil and gas.
These oil companies realize that Americans are finally ready to accept that things must change, that new energy sources must be found. In 20 years, I’m betting oil will no longer be the major energy source in America and across the world, that’s just plain logical.
So, what do the oil companies want? They want to be a big part of anything ‘new’, of course. They, like any other company, want to stay in business.
I found this video on TPM today. It's a good example of what needs to be on TV ads across Indiana and North Carolina
Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker, the top American diplomat in Baghdad said before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today, with respect to Iraq, “Mr. Chairman, as monumental as the events of the last five years have been in Iraq, Iraqis, Americans and the world ultimately will judge us far more on the basis of what will happen than what has happened. In the end, how we leave and what we leave behind will be more important than how we came.
While this statement has its merits, it is in my view, fundamentally flawed.
Could somebody tell me at what income level will tax cuts be stopped? For example, is Obama planning on stopping Bush's taxcuts that were given to ONLY those making more than $200,000? Or is this figure less? If so, what is it? Any documentation on this plan, other than the following:
I'm having debates about it with conservatives and need some facts to back my thoughts up.
I've written up a little sketch SNL or somebody should consider doing SOON!
What would it take to have a NON-BINDING Referendum put on ALL General Election Ballots? Does anybody know? Who has to submit it? Does Congress have to pass the Bill for the Ref to be placed on ballots? Or does each State have to do it?
We hear about polls saying that American's support the war, the next month they don't, etc.. Wouldn't it be nice to see in writing what voters want?
Vice President Cheney was asked about the polls proving Americans want us out of Iraq, his response was, "SO?" He said something to the effect you can run a war or government by polls.
I would like to see an actual VOTE done in November. By then we'll see if the Surge (the real reason for it - to reconcile differences in Iraq's government) is working, and if violence is still very low. The vote will give who ever wins in November a 'warning' (get us out or keep us there) - and if they disobey, they may as well expect to have a different congress two years later and perhaps a different presidency in 2012.
Who in the congregations today will carry the baton of leadership. There are those who want to stop the baton from being passed to the next generation. They use suspicion and fear to drive a wedge between the generations. The result is a gap between young and old.
It's time we all stood up and demanded the baton be passed to the future generations and that the older generation, while they be our heros and guides of the past, step aside by accepting what is to come.
