My Son is only 8. I thought this election was an opportunity for him to learn. Instead McCain's/Palin's meetings are scaring my son. From the old women saying you were an Arab, the other stuff that focused on your middle name,and the screams from the crowd. His Father's Family comes from is Middle East. Like any little boy he admires his Dad who is serving in the military, defending those who if they knew would do, what to him. His father and i are divorced. My Son says I must vote for you because then he and his Dad will be safe. I have tried to explain to him that no one can tell, he has blond hair and blue eyes. His Grandpa changed the last name. I tell him those people don't know what they are saying because Obama is not Arab. They do it because they don't what to say the real truth aloud and be a known racist. They use this scare tactics and lies to make others vote their way. My son says if they tell lies about Obama imagine what they would do to me if they knew.
I have told my son to remember his pride for who and what he is. He has to rise above this and not let it hold him back. If he does then those few who live in hate will win.
