I have had the opportunity to work for President-Elect-Obama in two States, Tennessee and Indiana. On November 4, although I voted in Tennessee, I have been working for the last year
and half in Indiana. The county and city and state of my youth went blue for the first time in
40 years! Thanks to everyone who helped in this effort.
I go to Carey's Barbershop - Oh ,probably on average 3 times a day.
We do service projects, voter registration, visibility, events in the neighborhood.
Birthday celebration for Obama was there- Customers, young people senior citizens, from
a local "snap" exercise group stopped by. All in all groups of people who would not normally
be in the same room. (Such Fun and of Course Information). Well this blog is not about
that day. There is a life sized 6'2" cut out of Obama. Red, White & Blue Americana items.
The walls ,door and windows are covered with Obama Items.
There is a glass container with Life Savers and a sign in Red and
White that states: O is for Obama, He is a life saver and will be a breath of fresh air in the
white house. If I am there and kids get the life saver I ask them to read it the sign.
Thomas Carey, The owner for 40 years and barber told me that a little boy was about to
get his hair cut but had brought in some change so that he could give a donation for
Obama. That made my day. Maybe all I am trying do here is to say Thank you, to
Thomas Carey who allows us to use his shop while he is trying to run his business! To
provide space where an 8 year olds feel connected to this campaign and feels he must
contribute. Thanks to everyone else who has a "place" in which they support Senator
Obama in a local community.

Muncie, Indiana Non-Partisans for Obama braved the inclement weather Saturday to participate
in the 26th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Our float theme was unity and about 75 people walked
behind "The Red Vintage" stenciled Obama Truck. Our voter registration was dampened but we
did register one middle-aged voter who had never voted before! We will follow up with her and
make sure she gets to the polls.
As always Obama groups are diverse the oldest person was 83 and march with us in the rain and
the youngest was about 6 years. We had a spirit/leader who was extraodinary. We followed
his lead on the chants.(Boy was he fired up!) There was lot's of laughter and fun and genuine
appreciation when parade watchers encourage us or asked for materials.

I've just called many of my relatives and friends in Hawaii and Wisconsin. Truly this campaign
has many houses divided and you can make no assumptions as to how people you know, are voting. There are so many stories of folks not know what to do. Give a call of encouragement,
persuasion, information or just a thank you if the are for Obama.
So please
in addition to your phone banking please call people friends and family who know you personally.
