People want to know what went wrong with our once-great country. Who's to blame for our problems? As any thinking person would hopefully admit - there isn't any one answer or group of people or single person to blame. But I would submit that one particular word is at the root of much of our common distress: GREED! Specifically, CORPORATE GREED! Our capitalist system - the one which triumphed over the communist system - has been subverted by the corporate elite who collectively run this country behind the scenes. It is their mentality of "the bottom line at ANY cost" which has effectively ruined our manufacturing base by off-shoring our jobs. And that directly resulted in our consumer-driven "economy", which is now all about buying things instead of making things... Which, of course, the corporate marketing whores work overtime to teach us is the "American way of life". But if there are no more jobs available which pay a decent wage... how are we to continue buying the goods these companies are selling us? Long ago, in the last century, Henry Ford had the common sense (foresight?) to understand that the "common man" needed to earn enough money to buy his cars... Why can't our modern corporate geniuses understand this? Instead; they're more concerned with eliminating their competition to increase profits! Competition is a cornerstone of healthy capitalism! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING? Oh - that's right... they're NOT thinking - just scheming of more ways to increase profit while killing the goose that has been laying the golden eggs...
