Now that election day has come and went, I just want to say wow. We did it, Barack Obama will be our next president. It is through everybody's hard work that we have acheived this great accomplishment. Its been a great campaign and a great political year for us, and can't wait untill Inauguration Day and I know these next four years will be very exciting, and hope that we can turn this country around.
Thank you everybody for all that you've done to help make this dream come true. Let's stand behind Barack and show the rest of the country and the rest of the world how much we can all do to implement change. Yes We Can.
All you can say is Wow.
This is what John McCain is saying about the situation in Georgia, where Georgian and Russian troops are engaged in an intense battle over a territory called South Ossetia. He believes this is the FIRST international crisis since the 1980s. My friends, this is not funny. We can not afford to have a president who does not realize the truth about what is going on in the world. He is stuck in a mind set which is dangerous and may lead this country into a very dangerous place. There is a diary post which details this in a much more detailed way, here it is, with a video... http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8/15/115621/064/117/568388 ... Please read it, and watch the video, there is more at... http://thinkprogress.org/2008/08/15/mccain-russia/. And by the way, John McCain should stop attacking as if he were already the president. It is pretty presumptuous for him to assume that he has the authority he believes he has.
Today, I got an email from my uncle, a forwarded one of course, attempting to detail and compare Barack's executive experience to John McCain's. The two columns of comparison were years in Congress and years in the military.
It was along the lines of McCain: Congress-26 years, Military-22 years...Obama: Congress-143 days, Military-0.
Here was my response.
I have believed this for months, but I thought it may just be because I was so pro Obama that I thought so much of the news has been against him. But it was not just my crazy imagination, at least according to a study done by George Mason, which has been doing similar studies for many years. In my opinion, these news outlets 1) seem to like the old McCain, so they're giving him a pass, also 2) they are reacting to the stigma of the liberal media and are over correcting and biasing their news stories against Obama.
Just because he gets more media coverage doesn't mean that it is always good. Here's the article with more details...Touger on Obama.
Hello all,
Tonight will be a night of historic proportions when Barack Obam hits the number (2118) to become the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party. As of now (6:35 EST), he is only 10 delegates from clinching the nomination, and it is almost a lock that will gain the requisite number of delegates, super and pledged.
Hillary Clinton has fought a very hard and tough campaign, whether we like it or not, and she may still be claiming some type of "victory", probably symbolic, as Obama passes such a threshold. As she speaks, we must accept her attempt to be proud and prideful of her campaign. This is a time for UNITY, we can't be spewing blogs of hate and anger, because it will simply continue to splinter our party.
Let's all take time and reflect our own unique part in this campaign, as well as what this campaign has stood for since day one. Whether you were original Obama supporter (awesome foresight), or joined the campaign when your candidate dropped out (like me-Jan. 30, woo!), or took your initial role in this movement when you casted your ballot for Obama, all of you have contributed a great deal to this grassroots movement we're calling a campaign. Congratulations, I am very proud and all of you should be too. This is a moment to cherish and hold on to for the rest of your life. YES WE CAN!!
Thank you all for everything!!
Tomorrow night, or on Wednesday, Barack Obama will successfully obtain the required number of delegates to become the nominee of the Democratic party for President of the United States. After this, we must begin, or continue, to unite the Democratic party around Barack Obama.
Of course, Senator Clinton has said many things that a great number of us in the Obama campaign, along with many around the country, have found to be disgraceful, or unsettling. However, we must evaluate her based on her past accomplishments and the base which she has been able to galvanize herself.
By evaluating these two factors, only then can one distance him or herself far enough from the primary fight, and begin to focus on the prospects of the general election. By assessing these aspects of Hillary Clinton and her political and governmental skill, we may need to put our "politics" difference behind us, and focus on her governmental accomplishments and her ability to win over people who we need to win over.
Here's why...
I was once again browsing the DailyKos and I read an important blog. Here is a link to the blog, or you can read the full text below. Full credit is given to slinkerwink, on DailyKos.com, for this insightful and important blog.
More over the jump.
I was browsing the Daily Kos and a found this diary which shows a video of A guest on Fox News joking about the assassination and death of Barack Obama. This is an utter disgrace to the news business and we cannot have lunatics like this on TV. Please spread this video around and I urge you to boycott this disgusting type of language and speak which is openly accepted on Fox News.
Last week, two important events occurred in the Senate.
First, was the confirmation hearing of General Petraus to become the overall commander of the United States Army. This hearing was held by the Armed Services committee, a committee on which Hillary Clinton and John McCain both sit. While Hillary Clinton was at the hearing to ask the nominee important questions regarding this important position, John McCain was at a fundraiser in California. For a man who claims to be experienced in foreign policy and concerned with our military, a big money luncheon was more important than the confirmation hearing of the country's commander in the field.
Second, was the vote on a new, bipartisan GI Bill, written by Vietnam veteran and military father Jim Webb (D-VA) & Korean war veteran andformer Chairman of the Armed Services Committee John Warner (R-VA). The bill was passed 75-22, with 3 members absent, one was John McCain. Once again, he was at a fundraiser, but what is important to understand is that he did not support this bill. This bill will increase veteran benefits all around, and John McCain, following Bush's lead, opposed this bill. It is unbelievable for a man with such a past would not want to increase veteran benefits, or much less be in the Senate chamber, doing his job, and voting on such an important and significant bill.
These are the important events and issues which truly show the priorities of John McCain, let people know what's going on here. We can't stand for this.
Yesterday, Hillary Clinton made comments about the campaign and the Democratic nominating process. These comments can be found here. These comments, I believe, were not made with the intent that many believe is there, and I believe that, at her heart and in her soul she did not mean that she wants or believes Obama will be injured. However, she did utter these disturbing comments, and any utterance of such devastating events must be viewed as unseemly and extremely inappropriate. The safety of any presidential candidate is a very serious issue, and cannot be viewed lightly. These comments put thoughts in disturbed people's heads, and give them an inner justification for any hostile action.
In response to these comments, Keith Olbermann has issued a Special Comment, that I urge everyone to watch. The video can be found here. The distasteful comments of the Clinton campaign, intended or not, must stop. Her actions and comments are not up to the standard of the presidency, and my opinion of her has been severely damaged.
Overall, I attribute these comments to her desire to win, regardless of the cost. If her initial intentions, at the start of this campaign, were selfless, then those goals and objectives have been completely thrown out the window. I am embarrassed for her. Currently, and with increasing presence over the past couple of months, her sole goal is to win, no matter the cost to Barack Obama, the Democratic Party, or the public at large. These comments are simply the culmination of the transformation of what was once a great advocate and legislator into a divisive, relentless politician. It is truly a shame to see such an upsetting and disappointing event.
I originally brought up this subject earlier this month and judging by the comments and the public awareness, but I recently saw these comments played on Countdown and Verdict on MSNBC. So, I thought his would be a good time to revisit this critical issues. Please read the following message and spread the word to everyone you know. It is important that the public is aware of these disturbing comments.
Hello all, I don't know how you all feel about John McCain, but I'm pretty sure you find the Holocaust as one of the most horrific events in history. Well, I urge you to watch this video of John McCain supporter, John Hagee in which he claims that the Holocaust was a justifiable, God created event, through absolutely outrageous language that can not and should not be tolerated. John McCain actively sought out the support of Mr. Hagee throughout the Republican primary, and his willing association with a man who could make such comments says something very significant about his judgment. Please watch this video, take a stand and make the public aware of such a willing association, and such hateful speech. Thank you, Chris Comninel
Chuck Hagel is a very knowledgeable Senator, a Republican from Nebraska, who is retiring this year. In the past couple of years, Hagel has consistently broke with the Bush administration on many foreign policy issues, including the war in Iraq and in dealing with Iran. I saw him speak at Rutgers last year and he truly understands the situation and knows what he is talking about.
In a post on the Huffington Post, he offered great praise for Barack Obama and discussed the perils of John McCain's policies. I urge everyone to read i, and do you think its important, or symbolic.
Hi all,
I don't know how many of you read anything on the DailyKos blog, but it is a wonderful and insightful place. I found this blog on the Kos which shows proof that John Hagee, from who McCain sought support, justifies the actions of the Holocaust, among other things.
Please watch the videos on the blog, they are very insightful and shed an important light on an issue the mainstream media has not been covering. Here is the blog...
