This story came to me from another group 2 days before election whenceI just came back from phonebanking to Indiana--not my best night to say the least and ended up down on the way home and wanted comic relief but found this letter in my e-mail and got a cry relief. I won't give up no matter how many hundreds of calls I need to make to find that ONE vote from Indiana and all swing states. So keep it working so we end up with a Special Human Being in the White House--Our Barack and Our Joe!
I am passing on: This is a true story that happened earlier this week in Palm Beach County Florida ---Enjoy!

My daughter, who has spina bifida and is a wheelchair-bound paraplegic, attends school there. She was awaiting his arrival in front of a long line of other people. When he arrived, she was able to see him get out of his vehicle. The next thing she knew the crowd engulfed her and pushed her out of the way so they could get close to Mr.Obama. Somehow, with everthing else Mr.Obama had on his mind at this busy time, he was attentive to the situation. My daughter said, 'He (Mr. Obama) grabbed me from the crowd and pulled me away from all of the people who were pushing me out of the way. He hugged me and whispered in my ear, 'When I become president things will be better for you.' She told me that she was so overwhelmed all she could do was cry. Then he hugged her again, and personally wheeled her wheelchair into the building, gave her two t-shirts and instructed the secret service to assist her to the VIP section, which is where she sat to watch the speech. I called everyone I know and shared this touching story because it speaks volumes to me, much more than any campaign speech, commercial, or debate. We were lucky enough to have a personal experience with Barack Obama, the man...the human. I am so overwhelmed that he was perceptive enough to observe what was happening to my daughter (as she was being swallowed by the thoughtless crowd) and that he took the time to remedy the situation (even though he was running late that very busy day.) This gave me insight into the type of person he is in everyday life. He didn't have to go into the crowd and save her, he could have pretended he didn't see her and go about his business, or he could have instructed the secret service to help her. But, he didn't. He took his time and made a difference...right there...right then...no fancy campaign speech, no media coverage...just his true essence, shinning through, with an incredible act of kindness that one Tuesday Morning. I felt compelled to share this story with others, so they too, can get a glimpse of the inner essence of this man. It is not often we have the opportunity to see the true nature of a person making a spontaneous choice in a difficult situation. Mr. Obama's choice lets me know that he is attentive to his enviro nment, willing to get involved, compassionate, and will make a change...even in the seemingly small problems of everyday life. Barack Obama, won this our hearts, because of this seemingly simple act of kindness to our daughter who was being swallowed by a thoughtless crowd. If he would stand up for her like he did, I now believe without ANY doubt he would stand up for this country and do the right thing. Mr. Obama you have my vote. You touched us beyond what I can express with mere words. Dawn Leacock Please share our story...pass it on...........................

Dear Cheryl,I apologise if this is not the correct way to contact you, but I was unable to find any other means of contact.I was hoping that you might be kind enough to send me the attachment for the Obama bookmarks, even though I cannot donate to the campaign, or indeed help in any way at all.I am an Irish citizen, living in Northern Ireland and I have been a follower of Barack Obama since he first entered the race to become the Presidential nominee for the Democratic party. I am following the campaign every day and (together with loads of my friends and relatives) praying as hard as we can for a landslide victory for Mr Obama.I really wish I could contribute, or vote, or do something that would help (I really want an Obama T-Shirt, but I can't buy one because that would be illegal) to put Senator Obama into the White House. I would love to play a part in this historic event that is going to have such a magnificent impact, not only for the people of America, but for all the peoples of our world, and for the Earth itself.I spend hours every day reading the blog(and following HuffPo, Daily Kos, Keith and Rachel etc, etc) and you are all doing your country proud.Keep up the good work!A new world is only a few days away!Best wishes,Monica (in County Tyrone, Ireland)
ObamaCart “rolled” over 2800 miles Across America from Divide, Montana to Unity, New Hampshire for Obama during the DNC Convention week from Aug 23-Aug 30! Traveling through 15 plus states along rural and small communities gaining media attention in each state with local newspapers and radio. As well small gatherings, events, and rallies cropped up along the route with a simple message of bringing positive attention of Obama for President along the way to open up awareness and create dialogue as the ObamaCart passed through the communities of: Montana, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island straight up to New Hampshire and then end in Boston, Massachusetts.
The story began as a Yankee Trade between me in Boston and the Johnson's in Anaconda, Montana. I create Obama bookmarks and attach them to e-mails for printing as a cajole to donate to my Official Obama Fundraiser--others in the HQ blogs write Haikus, Limericks, An Obama Recipe Book, and a terrific Obama Quilt or some other method for attention as we battle for money blitzes in the BarackObama.com website blogs. Bill Johnson had already peaked with his donations and asked for a trade with a round wooden sign he made with the Obama logo painted on it. I said yes to the trade and he reported it was rather a joke as it was 500 pounds or was that 50 pounds…(a large wooden Wire-Spool) but that he would pay half the shipping if I wanted it. I said he should just roll it East to seal the deal. He said OK. I didn’t hear from Bill for about 2 weeks. Lo and behold Bill fashioned and attached an axle and made it into a Obama Pull-Cart that humans or a donkey could pull. And that began our adventure which grassroots style blew up into a big adventure and we together with his wife Dixie were in the thick of it, setting up host beds for their nights with events, small rallies and small community media as he rolled East.
It quickly became too big for us but as we are only “community organizers” but of course we did it because we are Community Organizers! The Johnson’s were quite brave and adventurous. They hitched a trailer bed to their car and placed the ObamaCart on it in visible site, ready to be taken out for a moment’s “pull” for a few miles or around a block by those willing along route. I then needed to forge ahead and guide them East with what was next and up ahead. It was time consuming and many a day I thought I fell into a vortex and everything around me suffered except that I knew there was much “rolling” on me to see it through as a team with the Johnson’s and the kind folks who stepped up and offered a host bed for the Johnsons along the way, an event, a convention watch party, a picnic, a rally or a cheer and then a donation, and suddenly we weren’t alone in making it happen! The small community newspapers were thrilled to have some election attention along their route. A friend of mine who just became a brand new US Citizen decided to underwrite the expenses of the trip for gas and tolls so we could concentrate on the fundraising component on HQ website.
Bill Johnson exhausted at night would try to get a diary out on his Obama Blog Group site From Divide to Unity for Obama.
We received notes of inspiration from those who received our blogs and were tickled by the story as a brave grassroots adventure with national community interest! Our Event Fundraiser was successful and we are still receiving donations for the adventures from the ObamaCart.
It should be noted that Bill and Dixie Johnson needed to get back to Montana and that is a whole other route passing through DC that concluded to almost 6000 miles with ObamaCart!
At long last arriving in Unity, New Hampshire the Johnsons met up with a journalist for a local paper. The Johnson’s then backtracked and wended their way to me in Boston at 10:00 P.M. on Friday, August 29 to seal our deal and my husband Antonio and I had their desirous dinner of New England lobster and steamed clams waiting for them as well as our trade for the Obama bookmarks! My husband is like many of the spouses in Obamanation, a true supporter, but one who keeps the house and family going while the other is actively volunteering for the campaign more full time than was expected!
The Johnson’s are the loveliest, kindest, most interesting and knowledgeable folks to meet! After long tight bear hugs we immediately jabbered away about the great Democrat Convention for Obama and how pleased we are with Joe Biden coming on board as VP! We had much to talk about their travels East with ObamaCart, which the Johnson’s say is a life long keepsake memory and will forever treasure meeting the good folk all along the way. It should be noted that Bill’s inspiration was to make it a good old-fashioned campaign event that was positive and fun—and that he made his mission and succeeded. We ended up talking about kitchen table issues—just like the rest of America. But it wasn’t all about politics, after my husband and Bill checked in for sleep, Dixie and I stayed up until 3 A.M. getting to know each but acting as if we always have in a giggling fit over Bill staying left on a Boston rotary and couldn’t get off but kept going round and round while Dixie and I were on the telephone with each other trying to get Bill to take a right. Of course Bill has a different version of this and squarely blames me and then Dixie the co-pilot for telling him to stay left! But we were all punchy for lack of sleep and tears of laughter was the best medicine!
Saturday morning brought us all together with the Anonymous underwriters of the trip and we headed out to Castle Island in Boston to hand-pull the ObamaCart around the American Revolution Fort Independence. I got to witness for the first time what the Johnsons were able to enjoy the whole trip and that was seeing first hand the soft approach and easy attraction of the ObamaCart for the curious folks on the street. Bill and Dixie were natural Obama supporters with those that stopped to chat. Many of the curious signed their names on the one Obama wheels that the Johnsons will keep as a souvenir of their adventure. Bill made over a dozen Obama logo wheel signs and passed them out along the route East with the Yankee Trade one for me, now my Obama garden sign and later an outdoor garden table!
My family and the Johnsons wish to thank everyone along route who participated in making this a great success! Up with Community Organizers! Up with Obama/Biden!
We still get tickled from a dollar per mile donation as you would like to own.

Hello BOJO-Folks! I took one week-end off--sort of--and feel that I shouldn't have because I see the panic, and more panic, and well I became panicked! Then I remembered something! I went to a 2 hour Northeast Steering Committee Meeting on Saturday, Sept. 6 (see not really taking any time out) and there was a sizable group of 350-400+ who showed up Fired Up and Ready to Go. The speakers-- many from previous Democratic Campaigns were there, many from Massachusetts and then some Managers from the Kerry campaign who INDEED have insights about any kind of failures in a campaign from GOP tactics. They brought their wisdom of GOP Dirty Games to Share! This is what every single speaker had to say! Yes it will get fierce and dirty! Yes it will be the worse yet coming from the GOP than any campaign in the past--stuff NOT IN THE NEWS but underground tactics in places just like New England, not just Ohio, Florida and swing states. Simple things such as scaring unwary voters that their voter registration will tip off their credit card debtors, their voter registration will tip off the DMV for past tickets. Sounds silly to many of us. But guess what it works! OUR JOB: To WIN THIS Campaign! HOW?: Door Knocking/Canvassing! Voter Registration! PhoneBanking! Donations! That's it in a nutshell! They all fully agreed that it will come down to whether we get our collective pretty personal faces out there and knock on doors. Knock, Knock! They all fully agreed that you don't necessarily need to have a laundry list of specifics. Because it will be our fortitude, excitement and FACE that will make the difference! Knock, Knock! They all agreed we need to stay FOCUSED! Turn away from the Negative as that IS THE PLOY of the GOP to try and Defeat OUR ERNEST SPIRIT! Knock, Knock! Please remember WHO WE ARE! LIKE NEVER BEFORE! WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! Here is a Link that reminds us who we are and it will inspire us today! Link I include this particular reply to you from today! Let us continue to Inspire Each Other! Reply By Obama/Biden '08 - The Unbeatable Ticket Ok, Cheryl, your post brought tears to my eyes. I have been one of those wringing my hands and getting discouraged. You are so right. WE ARE THE ONES WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! Keep posting these beautiful words of encouragement! It sure helped me! SO GET FIRED UP! AND READY TO KNOCK KNOCK ON HEAVEN'S DOOR and Wake Up the Angels in All of Us to Register to Vote and Vote for Obama! Go On Now and Tell it to your neighbor and across your state!
Just Do It! Tip: Keep One Foot In the Door and One Hand on the Phones! Keep It Going Forward!

Please make your donations based on the amount of Miles you wish to Sponsor:
Hello from Bill Johnson and his ObamaCart as he rolls on through the American landscape from Divide, Montana to Unity, New Hampshire!
Today is Bills first day back on the road trip east going through Montana first stop in Billings. He stopped by the office at Barack Obama HQ in Billings where they got a big kick out of the story and couldn’t believe how just the two of us came up with this crazy idea and pulling it off with the likes of all of you in Obamanation!
Bill met a band on their way to Denver for Barack who cut their first album of Gospel and if I have this correct one of the singers is from Def Jam! They were excited to see the ObamaCart and stopped to speak with Bill and gave him a copy of their first CD! More about this later from Bill himself—who was quite pleased about the CD.
So far many folks along the roadway and through the towns give double-takes, then big smiles and waves to Bill as he rolls along—feeling he said like he has a huge sandwich sign on! Bill was on his way to Miles City and must have reached that by now as I write this and soon I will pick up another message from him.
Dixie went ahead and drove her son college in North Dakota outside Fargo and will pick up the trip with Bill on Sunday.
Bill was still looking for a Host/Bed tonight around Minot or Glendive or Dickinson for his first night—any takers? Let me know soon!
DO show your support for Bill Johnson for being so brave and alone today driving cross-country for Obama—who is very excited about our Joe Biden as VP!

‘Pullers’ wanted
ANACONDA — Bill Johnson was trolling a Barack Obama campaign Web site when he spotted a trade opportunity.
Obama fan Cheryl Souza, of Boston, was selling bookmarks to raise money for the presumed Democratic nominee’s presidential campaign. And Johnson, of Anaconda, was selling Obama signs from the ends of old cable spools.
“I agreed to trade her,” he said Friday.
But when the costs of shipping the sign to the East proved steep, the two brainstormed for a creative solution.
“I said, ‘You should really just wheel it cross-country,’” Souza said Friday in a phone interview. “He said, ‘OK.’ He just took it and ran with it.” On Friday, a cart Johnson made of three Obama signs will begin a long journey towards Souza from Montana to New Hampshire. Specifically, it will head from Divide to Unity, N.H., a route chosen to illustrate Obama supporters’ hopes for the country’s political future.
“This is such an ‘Obamanation’ thing going on,” Souza laughed. “We just get in over our heads.” The journey starts Friday at 5 p.m. at Divide — also Johnson’s hometown. From there, it will head to Butte, traveling down Iron and Montana to Interstate 90 at about 6:30 p.m. It will then journey on to Bozeman, Billings, North Dakota and ultimately New Hampshire.
“He found a way to connect Divide with New Hampshire, going through swing states,” Souza said.
Obama supporters along the route are sought to pull the cart, even for short legs. It has a hitch, and can travel about 20 miles an hour.
“We’re getting people slowly,” Johnson said, adding Obama campaign staff is helping find pullers. “Montana and North Dakota are the biggest problems because we have 100 miles between towns. Once we get it to Minnesota, then there are towns along the way.” Johnson, a local school board member, said he became an Obama supporter after hearing the candidate speak at the Democratic Convention four years ago.
“When Obama made his speech to the Democratic Convention I thought, ‘Oh boy, there’s a guy who’s saying what I’m saying,’” he said. “We need a rational and intelligent person; someone who’s familiar with the Constitution.” Souza, an ichthyology faculty assistant at Harvard University, is a longtime Obama fan as well. She frequents the candidate’s official campaign site and comes up with projects, such as bookmarks, to raise money for his presidential bid.
The Obama cart, she said, will be prominently displayed in her area.
“It might end up in the garden at my home,” she said. “But if I can find a taker in Unity, N.H., it would be really nice if I could find a permanent resting spot there.” Meanwhile, anyone interested in volunteering to pull the cart along the route can call Johnson at 563-6925 or e-mail him at dividemt@aol.com.
“Even short 10-mile pulls” are welcome, he said.

I have been procrastinating making my report on the Unite for Change Event held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Perhaps the reason is that I held one under false pretenses! It was after all my niece’s college graduation brunch! Upon receiving the invitation to my niece’s event I confessed that I really wanted to hold a Unite for Change event on that very day, but of course I was excited to go and celebrate her graduation brunch. My niece Vanessa quickly surmised and asked “For Obama?—oh yes, you can talk about Obama and bring some materials”. I asked if she was sure because her guests wouldn’t know in advance that her silly aunt might bore them to death. As well I didn’t want to ruin her celebratory party. Yet, I couldn’t help but want to be ready for a batch of freshly minted college students ---who may just be needing voter registration forms that I would be armed with! What to do? How to do it? Such an opportunity ready made, ten college graduates and friends and families of about 30 people.
I decided to be ready.
My Obama Bookmarks!
Print Ready. Take a lookie! They are colorful and print up brilliantly! Start collecting as I will begin creating more regularly. I reset my BO Fundraiser and of course if you care to send a few dollars towards it that would be great also. However, I am pleased to share these with all of you so you can use them for your upcoming events throughout the campaign. I am using campaign images we all are familiar with.
Take a look from this link and get a glimpse of what they look like. Just let me hear from you!
My niece is having her college graduation party this June 28th and since I wanted to do an event that day yet be at her party, she thought it would be a great idea to have an Obama table talk on Issues and Register any of the young first time voters. So I am armed with State Voter forms and Obama Gear. I usually make bookmarkers for family and friends birthdays--such as my father's recent 90th! Then the idea came to make Obama bookmarks!

Dear Honorable Speaker of the House, Congresswoman Ms. Pelosi:
I only wish I was sending you my first e-mail to congratulate you on your new post. You have to-date made me proud of your strong leadership during these critical times in our country. As well I am impressed with your convictions and plain talk in delivery of business to the Congress.
Not to take away from my good esteem on your behalf, however I am especially compelled to write you today regarding Senator Hillary R. Clinton and her latest of countless and now most egregious and most unforgivable damnations to her opponent Senator Barack Obama, and to the Democratic National Party, and to all of America.
I am asking for nothing less than to have the Democratic Party impose full expulsion of Senator Hillary R. Clinton from the Democratic Party and this primary race as soon as can be delivered up by course of meetings to take place on May 31, if not sooner.
As strong as that sounds, I know of no other punishment that would be wiser. I leave to your protocol and in your capable hands.
In recognizing that I am among scores of thousands who may be jamming up your e-mail this week-end, I sincerely believe it is important that you have full account of what the voters are feeling, and on record.
It is with all my being that I write you with the utmost respect. I fear loss of words to express my total outrage over this unmentionable diatribe that came yet again out of the mouth of a Democratic candidate in HRC, who has consistently and willfully been acting as a traitor to the Democratic Party. Even the vulgar words running amok in my head cannot bring forth the clarity of my urgency to bring an end to her candidacy for the office of POTUS and (gulp)VEEP.
As far as I am concerned Florida and Michigan are a non-issue: being that those informed citizens who stayed home and didn't vote are also the disenfranchised and that could add up to either side, as well as those who didn't understand what non-committed meant and voted for a Democrat in the case of Michigan means that the Party has devoted Democrats! The situation is a no-brainer. Seat them but make it equal if at all and we have a wash out. Perhaps next time around the citizens will have matured and recognize that they must be a part of the process from the beginning and that it is their duty to educate themselves or befall the consequences! (Of course the Governors of those states are mightily in the doghouse now and come re-election!)
In summarizing I call your attention to Countdown --"Special Comments", by Keith Olbermann on Friday, May 23, 2008. He succinctly spelled out the outrage I felt hours before he aired. I fully adopt his message to you Speaker Pelosi and to the DNC.
For the record, I am a 54 year old white female who doesn't make much money working in academia and fit the 50K borderline representation who HRC claims to own. I am an Independent who strayed from the Democratic Party in the 1980s, shortly after I worked hard to get the Great Liberal Lion of a Senator, Ted Kennedy in office! Regardless of my party affiliation I have continued to work on behalf of the Democratic Party by trying to get my great belated Senator Paul Tsongas elected in 1992! But I have indeed voted independently with others as I have seen fit to hold office of POTUS. I regard my voting rights--privileges as a responsibility since my first and early votes for McGovern, Carter to name two votes I am most proud of to this day—and getting what the economy cycle was during the time of Carter. This primary season I was devoted to the Great Senator Joe Biden, who I sent letters two years prior to get in this race. Because he bowed out of the race after Iowa, I was then left to really dig deep and do my homework and easily threw my full support to Senator Obama. That included looking up all pieces of authored and co-authored and sponsored bills of everyone! All encompassing, Obama was the one who could unite from one end of the spectrum and to all corners, but most importantly the youth of America, who have been among the missing for a few decades. That alone is reason enough to get behind Obama! We need engaged stewards for the future of this country to make the changes that are befitting of our greatness.
Barack Obama has earned the highest respect in my memory and I dare say this country's recent history as one who already has brought this country together and forward to a call of national duty like none before him and may surpass JFK time to come. His campaign is of the highest caliber and order of diplomacy and proven leadership of responsible management. He will surround himself with those of talent, intelligence and differing voices of reason, not necessarily loyalists! He is the one we have been waiting for--and the world is watching!
Because of this new sense of urgency that has been bestowed upon me as a voting citizen, I would likely consider coming back into the fold as a full-pledged Democrat with the likes of “Obama Nation” by my side to make a strong and unified effort to bring about the important call to change. I have always been involved in my local community, at times representing as president-elect my neighborhoods. It would be refreshing to know that the Democratic Party has a new lease on issues waiting for action in America.
With great pardon for the length of this letter to you and to your good reader, but I do hope you get to hear some of what the voters are painfully feeling today.
With Sincere Humbleness and in all Earnestness,
My name, etc.

Hello BO-Friends!
I just had to send this link on Carl Bernstein's View: A Hillary Clinton Presidency. He hits all the nails in her coffin.
http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/12/carl-bernstein-what-a-hillary-clinton-presidency-look-like/
Enjoy this one.
Dear BO-Friends,
I pass this on to you because it appears that Howard Dean and the DNC finally realize what a strong coalition and movement we really are. For those of you who aren't on the DNC mailing list I thought you would be interested to show them just how good we are in getting letters out! As if they don't already know that...So for those inclined. This is a good request from Dean et al.
Dear Cheryl,
John McCain is so wrong on Iraq, he can't even get the basic facts about the situation on the ground correct.
Today, as he was questioning Gen. David Petraeus, he again confused the difference between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
At least five times as a candidate John McCain has stated that Iran (a Shiite nation) is supporting Al-Qaeda (a Sunni group) in Iraq. This is not some minor mistake, but a significant gaffe. He clearly does not understand the sensitive political dynamics in that region of the world.
What's worse is that he's done it at important times when you'd expect him to be at his best -- he did it today in the Senate while questioning the commander of American forces in Iraq, and he did it on a recent trip to the Middle East.
If John McCain can't remember such a simple fact at crucial times, how will he be able to do it as President?
We have to stop John McCain from taking control of the White House, and stop him from taking over George Bush's war in Iraq. Can you write a letter to the editor of your local paper letting voters in your area know just how confused John McCain is?

Once is misspeaking -- five times is a dangerous lack of understanding. John McCain so badly misunderstands Iraq that he's content to stay there for 100 years, something he's said multiple times. He has also failed to explain how he would pay for a war that is now costing you and me $12 billion each month -- money we could be using to help our economy here at home.
John McCain wants us to believe that his decades of foreign policy experience make him the natural choice to lead our nation at war with terrorists.
We just can't afford someone who just doesn't understand Iraq -- it's too dangerous.
Thanks for your support.
