The major article in Rolling Stone this week is on none other than Barack Obama - "Destiny's Child."

It’s a good article – in favor of Obama but not over the top so. They present a fair sided portrait of him, on his pluses and his minuses.
The most interesting part for me was hearing about the preacher of his local church, an inspiration for him, and yet I’m not even religious. (Hey, I was raised Unitarian.)
”Rev. Jeremiah Wright, a sprawling, profane bear of a preacher, a kind of black ministerial institution […] Wright takes the pulpit here one Sunday and solemnly, sonorously declares that he will recite ten essential facts about the United States. "Fact number one: We've got more black men in prison than there are in college," he intones. "Fact number two: Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!" There is thumping applause; Wright has a cadence and power that make Obama sound like John Kerry. Now the reverend begins to preach. "We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns and the training of professional KILLERS. . . . We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God. . . . We conducted radiation experiments on our own people. . . . We care nothing about human life if the ends justify the means!" The crowd whoops and amens as Wright builds to his climax: "And. And. And! GAWD! Has GOT! To be SICK! OF THIS SHIT!"
Right on, brother. I want to hear this man preach for myseslf!
Check out the article.
Did you know:
Livonia, MI is the whitest big city in the nation at 96% white?
Detroit, MI is the second blackest city in the nation (after Gary, IN) at 82% black?
Warren, MI is the ninth whitest city in the nation at 91%?
Dearborn, MI is the second largest, and most dense Arab American city in the nation (after NY, NY)?
Almost 9 out of every 10 black residents in Metro Detroit lives in one of five cities: Detroit, Southfield, Pontiac, Inkster, or Highland Park.
Metro Detroit’s cities and schools are the most segregated in the nation.
Michigan’s unemployment rate was 7.1 percent in 2006.
I don’t have to tell you how bad our economy is. Everyone here in Michigan knows it and most folks around the country know how desperate our state is, too.

Although I rarely watch tv, I had two dates for tonight. The Obamas' interview on 60 Minutes and the Grammy Awards.
Unfortunately, I missed the majority of the Obamas' interview, but I hope it will be on BarackTV soon so that I can see what I missed.
But at the Grammy's I noticed Wycliff Jean give a shout out to Barack Obama in the middle of his performance (or rather at the end) with Shakira. I wanted to catch what he said and see if anybody else caught it, but so far I haven't seen it reported anywhere, not even here in Obamaland!
Anyway, the excitement and support is catching and spreading like crazy. I don't think it will peak too early, as many pundits have predicted/warned - I think it is a huge snowball affect and the force is getting bigger and bigger as it rolls.
My thoughts after listening to Obama's announcement speech today.
It is very lengthy but is also somewhat informative. I linked a few different websites from sources I quoted but the links didn't come through. Unfortunately I don't have enough will or brain power at this hour to fix it.
Here is my last ditch effort but if the links don't work this time they'll just remain broken for now

Also, I was thinking that what would be SUPER COOL is if Obama started using music from unknown artists. Maybe it could help their careers. I bet there are a bunch of Obama-fan-musicians who could even write something and submit it to the campaign for this purpose. That would help change this nation too.
