To make the best choices, to have access to the best creative solutions, I have to have the ability to remain calm in the midst of perceived chaos.
The one who can do this in sports is the skiier who can ski between the trees without harm, the base jumper who can make split-second decisions in the 4-8 seconds he has to save his life, the BMX racer who avoids crashing into the others.
It is a focus, a stillness within the rush, motionlessness while riding the wave.
Barack Obama demonstrates this ability to maintain a stillpoint within the chaos, the onslaught of polluted truth, the cacaphony of the masses all screaming their individual and collective 'truths' of what should and should not be.
It is mastery of this, I realize, that is the key to not only being at my best to make a difference in this campaign and in the world, but in my own life as well. This campaign has clearly revealed just how vulnerable I often can be to the push'n'pull of charged emotion and how it can rob me of "what I know to be true."
The number of times I've lost my sh#$ recently is embarrassing to say. But it's ok. Scream, rant, and rave at the injustice of it all. Then .... THEN I MUST return back to my strength, my truth, what I know, my center.
To creatively respond to the challenges I face - THIS is key! No matter what I face. No matter how impossible something appears to be.
Simply put, I am clearly at my best when I can stay calm AND piercingly focused AT THE SAME time.
I know this experience very well in extreme skiing. I know this to be true in music as well. When I play percussion, playing 3-4 rhythm patterns at the same time, and yet somehow able to carry on a conversation or watch the tv.
I promise to remind myself of this important skill every chance I get. It's too important not to. This is a critical time in my life. This is a critical time for the people on this planet.
The tipping point is most certainly near, where we take a quantum leap forward in the evolution of who we are becoming.
Could there be a more exciting time to be alive?
I think not :-)
To finding your stillpoint in the midst of it all ....
I wish you a good evening.

Life as a Wave
Ok, I've had enough waiting on the sidelines .... time to stand up, step forward, and shine. The possibilities of each and everyone of us are amplified as we come together under a common cause, catylized by a wise leader... who KNOWS that indeed ... YES WE CAN
First post ... wahooo!
