My friend and I had a Women for Obama event and gave out homemade Obama necklaces. The 130 attendees loved them so much we turned the idea into a fundraiser.

We have made so many we have cleaned our our local craft stores!
We are willing to trade the necklace (which we usually ask for a $15 direct donation to the campaign) to anyone who is willing to help us find/buy the charms and mail them to us. We bought them at the local Michael's stores. JoAnn's Fabrics sells them online and I purchased some from there but they may take up to 10 days to get here.
They are by Blue Moon Beads. The series is called Heart & Soul the are metal charms in three packs that say "love" "joy" and "hope". We are obviously using the Hope. Here are photos of the pack.

If anyone out there can look in their local craft store we would be so thankful!!!
Thank you!!

I have organized an event for Sept 24th and I would love it if others joined in.
Here is the idea:
1. ask a friend or two to do something, meet somewhere and wear an Obama tshirt.
2. You can take a walk together, meet for coffee, go to dinner, meet for drinks, go bowling, whatever!
3. Mine started as a girls' night out display of support of women for Obama. I have had to change the venue because so many women wanted to come. (some friends, some friends of friends and some people who just wanted to be involved)
4. Aim high: I invited my Congresswoman, and other local elected Dems, heck I even invited the Gov!!!
5. Turns out Palin is expected to be in our state that day. Wouldn't it be great if everywhere she went she saw Obama in action at the grassroots!!!
IF YOU ARE IN THE SEATTLE AREA PLEASE JOIN US!!!!

****Let's get out there and show American's exactly what Community Organizers can do!!!****
This election has asked us all, who are you, what do you believe in?
I am a wife, a mom, a friend, a concerned citizen of the world. I have an uninteresting life. I get kids to the bus stop, I volunteer in their classrooms and I try to get a healthy dinner on the table most nights. I am wrapped up in the world of homework, school fundraisers, family and friends.
But our world is changing. Gas is getting more expensive. A galon of milk is costing more than ever. I have two friends who did tours in Iraq. Thank goodness they came home alive. We are the lucky ones.
The harder times get the more you think about others who were not as lucky as you are.
When I see our Rx print out I see how much insurance saved us, and I wonder about those without insurance. When my first daughter was born we received a bill from the hospital for $1200. In the description line it said, "Resuscitation of infant." Every child deserves the best medical care we can provide. Anything less is unacceptable.
How do we get things to change? Who speaks up for those without a voice? If you see it, you know it isn't right, you should move to change it.
I am doing more than I ever imagined I would. I am organizing friends, educating myself, writing postcards, making pins, blogging, raising money.....why?
Because I believe Barack Obama understands the changes this country needs. I have decided to "be the change I want to see in this world." What a wonderful world this would be if everyone decided to take a step in the direction of providing for the least of us.
The next time you feel inspired to donate to the campaign, do it through my link and get a free Obama bottle cap necklace! Any donation through the link, in any amount, will receive a free necklace!
Here’s my link:
Have a question? Want to see a photo of a necklace? Want to send me your mailing address to receive your necklace? Email me at carlabarokas@hotmail.com
Necklace is on a ballchain (like dog tags), pendant is a bottle cap with the word “HOPE” inside using the Obama logo for the “O”, and is filled with a shiny resin.
Thank you all for all you do for this campaign!

Obama '08
So I haven't invested much time educating myself on the caucus/delegate/super delegate aspects of the political process....until now. In WA state only our delegates and super delegates will count toward who we chose as the Democratic nominee?! I can't stand it! I cannot go Saturday and I feel as though my vote will not count at a time and place when I care most, and have invested myself most in our country's future and my role in it. I have an absentee ballot and will vote for Obama then, but that isn't until the 19th.
I took the time today to find Gregoire's web page and sent her a message asking her to support Barack Obama. I have never writen a public official before! But I would like to write the other super delegates in our area. Does anyone know who they are?
I voted for Gregoire in her race against Dino Rossi and that was a squeeker! Super delegates shouldn't vote for their friends or who they owe favors to, they should represent the people. And I want my voice to be heard!
Please let me know if any of you know of any Super Delegates in the area, I will research how to contact them, I just don't know who they are.
