I have always been involved in politics; however, I have rarely been inspired as I am by Barack Obama. The last eight years have left me depressed, disappointed and more distrustful of government that ever. Mr. Obama presents an opportunity for this country to move in a new and positive direction. He supports campaigns for social justice and will talk with those with whom we disagree on the world stage. I can't imagine he will ever take the "our way or no way" mentality that George Bush has so often adopted. Having said that, I have no concerns that he will hesitate to defend our freedoms.
To those who say that Mr. Obama lacks the experience of Hillary Clinton I say, by what measure? Hillary was first lady, true enough, but how much legislation did she write; how many decisions did she actually make? I don't think her experience distances herself from Mr. Obama.
I'm glad Mr. Obama decided to run. Any success he has will speak well for the country. I, for one, have donated to the campaign and will continue to do so. Keep up the good work, Mr. Obama. You have a lot of support.
