I would like to know if anyone has identified discrimination of post convicted people as a major factor to high unemployment in your communities and what have your communites done to eliviate this problem.
My view is, if people are not able to get jobs because of their convictions they will be roaming the streets broke while we are at work, and they will still be in the community.
They will still be our neighbors even if we allow apartments to discriminate against giving them housing they will still live in the apartments with someone else.
I feel the solution is to make it against the law for them to be discriminated against by employers where there is no conflict of interst relating to their crime and the jobs and also make it illegal for any housing community that rents to the general public to discriminate based on ta prior conviction when the person is no threat to the community.
If someone else has a suggestion please give me some guidiance to help me find a solution for the heads of these families I serve.
How do I have a bill proposed for this at the federal level, if we are really talking about re entry these people cannot possibly re enter when they cannot find a place to live and assume their parental roles as adults. If we won't give them a chance to really be free after they have given everything that was required of their sentences, we should not continue to punish them life is hard enough and they never finish their sentence it becomes a life sentence to them.
I really do not know how to write a blog, neither am I one to that likes telling everything that I have done in the community, but at the expense of inspiring people I will do this. I supported our president and defended giving him the opportunity to be, I had plenty of healthy debates with republican and democract friends. I started my support at the Panola road canvaa site I went to South Carolina, offered support by canvassing from our Tax office NCTR at Panola road over 60 volunteers from Lithonia on poll day alone and many other leading up to November 4th, I want to thank everyone from the family with the baby in the stroller that waved signs, to my OBAMA (1) and OBAMA 2 and 3 volunteer coordinator helpers thank you teachers, business owners, youth, single parents, and elderly who helped us stay on task the day of the polls in our area (Lithonia) I canvassed with several different groups in Dekalb County, I made calls from my cell phone from our voters lists emailed from our Dunwoody partners in the campaign.
I donated by purchasing campaign items in bulk with other supporters in our area.
We are now called to stand up and become a voice for our community, I need you the community to stand up with me I need the leadership skills you use on your jobs, the endurance you have when you exert energy and the patience you have with your children, because the community where I live has no resident associations, no homeowners associations and therfore no voice. I am organizing a collaborative of citizens to represent the communities so that we can come together as one voice for the area. Please give me advise of successful organizating tips for communities.
