I decided not to watch - my blood pressure is already high and I need to avoid stress. Please give some details about the debate.
I take it, of course, that Obama was awesome!
Geesh- he makes my skin crawl. I don't know where he gets his poll #'s from but they are so off what we have all been seeing.... so its official (if anyone cares). I will wait to get my news from here - and from Keith Olbermann.
GEESH
I am feeling very optimistic by the polls - and I hope to remind those who get scared by some of the polls with wider gaps that if you have a cell phone - you have probably not been polled. The numbers do not take millions of people into the picture. I do think the groundswell of voters in our country will come to fruition in November. I see that 71% of people do not think this country is going in the right direction and a majority of people now believe the war in Iraq was and is wrong.
Think - McCain is so pro-Bush and so pro-war that its hard to separate the two. He also can't keep our enemies names straight. He's 71 and he knows nothing of the economy - nor does he really seem to care.
Think - HRC is making mistakes in judgment, she has made may mistakes in judgement, she down in the polls. Obama is closing the gaps in many state races and in some are now thought to be able to even win! Now she is bringing up Samantha Powers again and pulling at very desparate straws.
I just heard that 19% have changed their vote from HRC to Obama - while very few have gone the other way - on CNN!
I think we have to stay positive - do the fantastic work so many have done, keep the message that Obama is totally qualified to be President, that many other countries are watching this race with great interest and excitement, that many of our troops now know the war was wrong and may not say so in public but will when they vote - that a change is crucial to the survival of our country and the world.
Have faith in our candidate - he really is a remarkable man. If they haven't polled us they don't know we are out there! But with the amazing number of new voter registrations.... we just have to have faith!
Now - go forth and do what we need to do to get him into the White House. Yes We Can! YES WE CAN! YES WE MUST!
Good Morning!
I have been watching a story about the "Family". There is a lot here that I think people need to know about regarding the level of HRC's involvement. First is a link to the story and the blog from the Daily Kos. Then, below that is a link to an MSNBC feature about the family. Please read and be aware of this - it is scary stuff. While you are in the DailyKos, scroll down about 1/3 and see Clinton having a nice chat with Rev. Wright at a function.
I am a 55 y.o. white woman from Massachusetts - near Boston. I am married, with two children, one of whom is a musician in Colorado and the other a college student. My entire family are Obama supporters and we know we NEED to have a new voice - new chance - new changes -and a new party in the White House and the world. It can't happen fast enough.
I do apologize - I cannot seem to get the links to work today.

I want more than anything for Barack Obama to be the next president. I really cannot stand Sen. Clinton (I promise). I'm hearing on many different shows that people would rather vote for McCain than if Clinton (perish the thought) is the democratic nominee? Has anyone else heard this. Or is this another MSM game. How many people would really vote for McCain if Obama is not the candidate
I wonder if it is better to not vote rather than giving McCain the vote in protest. I do not - as I have just said - like Clinton. I really can't stomach her. But I would rather vote for a democrat than let McCain anywhere near the presidency. And I really don't know what to think.
I know we have our strong feelings that Barack Obama has earned and will continue to earn the delegates and super delegates needed and that he will be the person to unite the people in this country. But I don't trust Hillary to not do something highly questionable. And her supporters are saying the same thing.... they would vote for McCain rather than Obama. How much more devisive can that action be.
I will have to vote for her... ONLY if Barack doesn't get it. I will hold my nose. I will ask for forgiveness. But I can not and will not vote for McCain. The democrats must take control of this government and keep McBush away from the red button - or our economy.
I'm sorry - I just can't hold back anymore. This article - in its entirety is from the current issue of Mother Jones issue about HRC's faith. Just as a comparison - please read. I linked to this article in past posts, but I think it is so important to understand the hippocracy here. And may I add a Shame on you Hillary, SHAME ON YOU.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/20/opinion/main3...Hillary's Nasty PastorateThe Nation: When It Comes To Unsavory Religious Affiliations, Clinton Is A Lot More Vulnerable Than ObamaComments 54March 21, 2008by Barbara Ehrenreich. There's a reason Hillary Clinton has remained relatively silent during the flap over intemperate remarks by Barack Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. When it comes to unsavory religious affiliations, she's a lot more vulnerable than Obama. You can find all about it in a widely under-read article in the September 2007 issue of Mother Jones, in which Kathryn Joyce and Jeff Sharlet reported that "through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as "The "Fellowship," also known as The Family. But it won't be a secret much longer. Jeff Sharlet's shocking exposé The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power will be published in May. Sean Hannity has called Obama's church a "cult," but that term applies far more aptly to Clinton's "Family," which is organized into "cells" - their term - and operates sex-segregated group homes for young people in northern Virginia. In 2002, Sharlet joined The Family's home for young men, forswearing sex, drugs and alcohol, and participating in endless discussions of Jesus and power. He wasn't undercover; he used his own name and admitted to being a writer. But he wasn't completely out of danger either. When he went outdoors one night to make a cell phone call, he was followed. He still gets calls from Family associates asking him to meet them in diners - alone. The Family's most visible activity is its blandly innocuous National Prayer Breakfast, held every February in Washington. But almost all its real work goes on behind the scenes - knitting together international networks of right-wing leaders, most of them ostensibly Christian. In the 1940s, The Family reached out to former and not-so-former Nazis, and its fascination with that exemplary leader, Adolf Hitler, has continued, along with ties to a whole bestiary of murderous thugs. As Sharlet reported in Harper's in 2003: During the 1960s the Family forged relationships between the U.S. government and some of the most anti-Communist (and dictatorial) elements within Africa's postcolonial leadership. The Brazilian dictator General Costa e Silva, with Family support, was overseeing regular fellowship groups for Latin American leaders, while, in Indonesia, General Suharto (whose tally of several hundred thousand "Communists" killed marks him as one of the century's most murderous dictators) was presiding over a group of fifty Indonesian legislators. During the Reagan Administration the Family helped build friendships between the U.S. government and men such as Salvadoran general Carlos Eugenios Vides Casanova, convicted by a Florida jury of the torture of thousands, and Honduran general Gustavo Alvarez Martinez, himself an evangelical minister, who was linked to both the CIA and death squads before his own demise. At the heart of The Family's American branch is a collection of powerful right-wing politicos, who include, or have included, Sam Brownback, Ed Meese, John Ashcroft, James Inhofe and Rick Santorum. They get to use The Family's spacious estate on the Potomac, The Cedars, which is maintained by young men in Family group homes and where meals are served by The Family's young women's group. And, at The Family's frequent prayer gatherings, they get powerful jolts of spiritual refreshment, tailored to the already powerful.Clinton fell in with The Family in 1993, when she joined a Bible study group composed of wives of conservative leaders like Jack Kemp and James Baker. When she ascended to the Senate, she was promoted to what Sharlet calls the Family's "most elite cell," the weekly Senate Prayer Breakfast, which included, until his downfall, Virginia's notoriously racist Senator George Allen. This has not been a casual connection for Clinton. She has written of Doug Coe, The Family's publicity-averse leader, that he is "a unique presence in Washington: a genuinely loving spiritual mentor and guide to anyone, regardless of party or faith, who wants to deepen his or her relationship with God." Furthermore, The Family takes credit for some of Clinton's rightward legislative tendencies, including her support for a law guaranteeing "religious freedom" in the workplace, such as for pharmacists who refuse to fill birth control prescriptions and police officers who refuse to guard abortion clinics. What drew Clinton into the sinister heart of the international right? Maybe it was just a phase in her tormented search for identity, marked by ever-changing hairstyles and names: Hillary Rodham, Mrs. Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton and now Hillary Clinton. She reached out to many potential spiritual mentors during her White House days, including New Age guru Marianne Williamson and the liberal rabbi Michael Lerner. But it was the Family association that stuck. Sharlet generously attributes Clinton's involvement to the under-appreciated depth of her religiosity, but he himself struggles to define The Family's theological underpinnings. The Family avoids the word Christian but worships Jesus, though not the Jesus who promised the earth to the "meek." They believe that, in mass societies, it's only the elites who matter, the political leaders who can build God's "dominion" on earth. Insofar as The Family has a consistent philosophy, it's all about power - cultivating it, building it and networking it together into ever-stronger units, or "cells." "We work with power where we can," Doug Coe has said, and "build new power where we can't." Obama has given a beautiful speech on race and his affiliation with the Trinity United Church of Christ. Now it's up to Clinton to explain - or, better yet, renounce - her long-standing connection with the fascist-leaning Family.By Barbara EhrenreichReprinted with permission from The Nation.
Greetings Obama Supporters!
I know that HRC has a huge number of elderly supporters. I am a baby boomer who has lost my mother (and my grandmother and great grandmother) so what is now known as Alzheimers Disease. It used to be called senile dementia. It is projected in the next 10 years that the number of baby boomers and their families having to deal with Alzheimers Disease will reach catastrophic proportion and possibly bankrupt the Medicare system. This problem also involves people - often elderly themselves as caregivers which will effect their own financial stability and overall health.
The Bush administration has, time after time, vetoed any proposals to allow stem cell research to help find a cure for Alzheimers, and more likely Parkinson's disease and diabetes - all of which takes a huge medical toll on families. Would our man, Barack Obama be able to address his stand on research for these diseases or at least more investmen into research to in finding cures or at least treatments for these devastating diseases that cost our elderly population - and thus our overall economy in taking care of the victims - in some speech or position paper. I am confident that those afficted with Alzheimers or any other dementia and their families will see how your presidency will give NEW HOPE to millions of seniors.
I can only speak to Alzheimers disease as I have had more experience caregiving to my mom (which took all my savings - and my health to a certain degree since I couldn't afford health care and went deeply into debt taking care of Mom) than I would ever want. But if anyone here wants to find out about Alzheimers disease - which is directly linked to diabetes and parkinsons, please check out the Alzheimers Association at Alz.org for more information.
Go Barack Obama! Finally, because of you I feel prouder every day to be an American!!!
I have an article that was given to me (and which I linked to this morning on this website) which is of great interest based on a book coming out in May about Sen. Clinton. I don't know if it is correct protocol to copy and paste the article here.... but I think it is important for Obama supporters to at least be aware of. It seems to have been buried way down on one of the earlier posts of the day and I can't even find it. The article comes from Alternet.com. Is it alright to paste it or should I not. I don't want it to be taken as rumor... but the author seems to be well known and has written books such as "Nickled and Dimed" for example.
I hate stuff if I don't know its true so I want to be very careful and I will do more research if I can.
Greetings Obama Supporters:
I am a resident of Massachusetts. I am 56 and a mother of two sons, one of whom will be voting for the first time in November. I am also a member of a UCC church and have attended now for 10 years. It is a protestant Christian denomination. It is not a cult. For those who don't know the UCC (ucc.org) it is an organization of many thousands of member Christian churches across the country.
That being said, I have wondered why Sen. Clinton has not said anything in the last week about this whole challenge. Then, my husband showed me the following article which would shed light on why Sen. Clinton has to stay quiet. Please read and judge for yourselves. I do hope this is discussed and perhaps Keith Olbermann wil read this and bring it to the forefront.

I am looking forward to the Sen. Obama's speech today on the Economy. I felt the last two were right on, had to be said and was so much more impressed that he stood his ground didn't throw Rev.Wright under the bus but did speek to his incendiary comments.
As soon as I finish my taxes and my son's financial aid app I will be volunteering my time at my local Obama headquarters.
Go OBAMA - we need you more than ever.
I am a member of the UCC (United Church of Christ) in New England. The website for the UCC is ucc.org. I encourage everyone to go and see what the UCC stands for. Jeremiah Wright is an educated, well sought after speaker - who has retired. The speech he gave that is causing such "hysteria" was given in 2006 before BarackObama even decided to become a candidate and it was given at a college - I don't recall the details. The UCC is comprised of many different member churches - it is a huge and nationwide.
I suggest folks look at the website and learn about what the UCC and its member churchs stand for as a whole and not allow one speech to be taken out of context.
Now - based on that... just because a minister gave a speech, before our candidate became our candidate, does that make it Barack's belief just because it was said by someone with whom he was affiliated. Yes - Jeremiah Wright was the minister of Barack Obama's church. But since when is everything any pastor says in a sermon bought hook, line and sinker. I don't agree or condone everything my minister says. I don't believe anyone really does if they are really honest about it.
Let's move on now - these diversions are just that. It is time for Barack to renounce all these attemtps to bring his candidacy down to a low level by those who want to "slime" him. It is time to focus the real issues that are important for our country going forward - the economy and jobs, the end of the illegal war in Iraq, privacy, health, housing, end of corporate greed, fair taxation, education, honesty in government, a unified country and respect for all that has been stolen from us by the current administration. Please Barack - address this once and for all and come out prepared to WIN Pennsylvania and the nomination for the Presidency of the United States. You can do it - We can do it. YES WE CAN!
