Barack Obama had my attention early on in the campaign......before the campaign began to unfold and the list of Democratic Candidates began taking center stage to appeal to Americans. In addition to developing a plan to bring our soldiers home from Iraq, he is an avid supporter of the middle class/working class.....The Employee Free Choice Act.....A national healthcare plan.......I could go on and on........
I am a proud Communications Worker of America Member of Local 4621. My international fully supports Barack as well......
What appeals to me is the 'real' approach he has used to talk to Americans. It is refreshing....and for the first time in a long time, he brings about 'hope'. He instills a sense of pride in being an American.....that we are no longer for sale to the lowest bidder....that he will lead with honor and integrity and not repeat what we have witnessed over the past eight years.....and catering to a select few.....I believe that he will change the direction of this country....and that my children can look forward to a bright future.
But...what I am most proud of....besides conducting alot of union member to union member education efforts......talking to family and friends.......doing door knocks to union members in the Fox Valley......being involved with the EFCA movement.......putting up a sign in my yard to support Barack/Biden.......wearing buttons and helping folks focus on the real issues and not get caught up in the muck and mire of this campaign...........
I was able to convince my nearly 83 year old mother in law to register to vote for the first time in her life......which she has done and she has also cast her absentee ballot by voting early.......he has touched her heart, inspired her into believing that real change is possible........and I have Barack/Biden to thank for that.......she has witnessed alot in her life......good leadership and poor leadership.....and this election was one that she would participate in because she believes it is the most important one in her life.......I am so proud of her.....
Go Barack!!
