My husband and I hosted our first House Meeting this month. We feel it was a success. I invited a banker who works for U.S. Bank. He answered many questions for us -especially those questions that dealt with the economic stimulus package.
I served cookies and punch; and we snacked, discussed economic and neighborhood issues. It was great. I believe our participation number will increase for our next meeting because everyone was so pleased with our first.
Mainly, my guests are concerned by the trickling of information about the economic stimulus package. It appears we're getting more information about earmarks from republicans -especially Fox News.
I believe transparency means clear, see through...see it for yourself. We can not allow negative republicans to paint a negative picture of this economic package because too many American people are hurting and the numbers are growing by the day.
I believe we need to get rid of earmarks (Pork). I personally don't agree with adding unnecessary spending to this economic stimulus package. For example: St. Louis, Missouri have no real need for a bike path. Cut it from the package unless it creates jobs for average citizens, or youths -no nepotism or friends knowing friends who get these jobs... which is what always happens to these jobs.
Hello everyone.
I just want to tell all of you why I became attracted to Senator Barak Obama's campaign.
During the month of August, I learned that there were six young men in Jena, Louisians being tried for a crime against a fellow classmate. I became involved in that movement because I wanted justice to be done. After hearing some facts about the Jena Six case, I felt it necessary to contact my legislative representatives. I needed them to be aware of the circumstances happening in Jena, Louisisna. Many of them responded to my call.
I contacted Senator Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton. Senator Obama replied in one day, and Senator Clinon took two weeks to reply. This act by both Presidential candidates speaks volumes to credibility. I'm sure Senator Obama was just as busy as Senator Clinton; but his headquarters was set up to answer the calls from citizens immediately - no matter how small or great the problem. I became an Obama supporter immediately.
I believe he is as qualified as Clinton, or Edwards to be the President of the United States.
My name is Barbara; and I am a retired Classroom teacher. A few weeks ago, I contacted Senator Obama to inform him about the events happening in Jena, Louisiana. He/supporters replied to my email in a little over 45 minutes. I also contacted Senator Hillary Clinton. It took 3 days to get a response from her/supporters.
I believe anyone who has citizens in mind enough to respond so quickly is deserving of my vote for President of the United States. I also contacted several other Missouri Representatives and Senators. I've not heard from them yet.
You would think I would have received a reply (even if it would have been a generic response) from the President of the United States. Yes, I wrote to him also. But, I've not heard from him either.
We need as many people as possible to support Senator Barack Obama for President.
