From now until Election Day we'll be featuring American stories from Obama supporters across Florida.
I am a 25 year old AF military wife, mother of two beautiful girls and I have never voted before. I have taken the first step by filling out the voters form. People always say that your vote counts and its the people who decide and put the individual in office. This is true, but nothing really convinced me to want to vote and make a change with just my vote. When Clinton was in office, I wanted him to be president, but for whatever reason I did not vote and was not registered to. But let me cut to the point.
I am not a political person, but getting to know Obama throughout his campaigns have touched and inspired me in a way to make the first step in voting.
…I can say that yes I was part of that change and my vote was part of it. For once in my life I would be able to say I am proud of the President when Barack Obama becomes president of the United States of America.
If there is a change I believe Obama can bring it!Most young adults don't have to worry about bills, gas prices, and finance their in college unlike myself… I'm a 23 year old college student, who is currently paying a total of 50,000 for my education…Currently I am a full time college student obtaining a 4.0 GPA and I work full-time for a whopping $9.00 an hour, which is the lowest amount of money I have ever made since I was 15 years old. But $9.00 is the highest evening time position I could fine…The student loans are just one of many things destroying my credit.I've been married for just over one year now and my husband is a chef…My husband and I would like to start our family but we can't because the economy is so bad, there are so little jobs and the jobs out there won't pay anything that we know a family is just way beyond our reach. It seems like everything we try to do to better ourselves or our families, the government and the economy just keeps shutting us down. The government can spend billions bailing out the rich yet are reluctant to spend a dime bailing out the middle or poor class (and the term middle is rapidly fading away).I may not be very old or experienced in politics, yet I do know that before this election I never paid attention to politics because in my opinion politics=corrupt, and all about the money. All I know is A CHANGE HAS TO HAPPEN! I am very disappointed in the nation, the economy and how the government is being ran…I'm tired of seeing good, honest…people on the side of the road begging for jobs just to put food on the table for their kids. I'm tired of people having to quit their dreams because the shift of the world just isn't in their favor, and I am Sick or the RICH getting RICHER and the POOR getting POORER! And the rich CEO's and companies outsourcing jobs to other nations because they can!A Change HAS TO HAPPEN, and hopefully Obama can make that change achievable!

"To say my life has changed a lot in the last four years would be an understatement. In 2005, I left the small town I had resided in since my birth for a city 900+ miles away all because a company here offered me the security of employment… Back home, we were having nearly weekly meetings to let us know that 20 of us would not be returning to our jobs the next week, and so it became not a factor of if you were going to lose your job but when. So when the opportunity arose to make double my current wage for the exact same work in a place where I could go the beach anytime I wanted, I jumped at it. In the three years since I've lived in Florida, I've left the industry that brought me here for healthcare because of economic instability in the small corporation sectors. Aside from my move to Florida, my life has changed in various ways. I'm now a wife to a husband that works for the state. We have two great girls, one of our own and one from his first marriage. And for the first time in my life, I'm not voting for me and my future, but for those of my daughters. How could we look at the changes our country has gone through in the last 8 years and say that its okay to continue on a path that will live ruin and broken dreams at the feet and on the shoulders of our children. The Obama-Biden ticket has inspired me as no political team ever has since I was of age to vote. I feel as if I can trust the future of my daughters in the hands of Senator Obama. I am proud to be voting for the Obama-Biden ticket."

There are many reasons people vote for a candidate. I would like to share mine. A president is a leader. He guides policies and procedures, he unites a country; he represents with dignity and direction a people; he motivates and connects. He reaches across party lines and family politics. He inspires; he remains calm in the face adversity; he instills pride. Senator Obama, I am not a person who places humans on pedestals, I am just a person walking through this world grateful for the gifts along the way to enhance the journey. I consider you a gift at this time to this country. I do not think you are God; in fact, I know you are human. This is not "your" country--it is "our" country. If you are elected, we must all do our part to support you. We must watch our expectations and be willing to emulate what we know is right.I have had numerous and continual contacts from your campaign from the time you made your commitment to run for President. I have been able to volunteer here and there and financially contribute. Anyone can reach out for support in the beginning and rally the people but to continually do that throughout the weeks is the mark of a leader. To have people in place who could handle such a communications task is another manifestation of good leadership. You have rallied my son from his computer to his Country. He was selected as an Obama fellow and works diligently in our state of Florida to aid your campaign and your supporters. He brings water to the countless elderly waiting in line to vote and shares his knowledge of your views with others. At age 26, he has found a purpose and will be doing his Master's in Political Science in January having been motivated by you. This is the power of a true leader.I expect, Senator Obama, that many Republicans will "secretly" vote for you when the curtain closes because of these qualities. Win or lose, what you have done for this Country already has made an impact on many lives. We are, once again, proud to be Americans. This...is what a leader contributes.Thank you from a wife, mother, worker and citizen.

Gov. Charlie Crist has just declared 'a state of emergency' in Florida, due to the overwhelming number of Floridians eager to cast their votes early. That's why yesterday he issued an executive order to dramatically expand early voting. Effective immediately, every early voting site in the state will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. through Friday, October 31st, and for a total of 12 hours between 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1st, and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2nd. To find your Early Vote location now, visit FL.VoteForChange.com and vote early right away. Certain locations may not be open on Sunday. If you have questions about weekend hours at your nearest location or anything else, please call 1-877-235-6226, or contact your county's Supervisor of Elections. The executive order not only extends the Early Vote deadline, it also increases the time that locations are open weekdays to 12 hours a day -- beyond the 8 hours a day mandated by state law. It is crucial that everyone who is eligible and eager to vote be able to participate and have their voice heard. And now with the extended hours, thousands more will have that opportunity. We encourage Floridians to continue casting their votes before Election Day, either at an early voting location or by mail, and to participate in this election -- because voting is democracy in action. Find your location now, and bring your friends and family with you to cast your ballot for change: http://fl.voteforchange.com And again, any questions, please call 1-877-235-6226. Warm, breezy night and a well lit location at Sims Park. Crowd of 3,000 turned out to hear Joe Biden speak. Senator Bill Nelson gave the introduction and Joe started his speech with a shout out to early voting in Florida. Nice speech, with great delivery of “America is one nation,” including a heart felt, “I’m sick of red and blue" and "America has a purple heart.”

John McCain has launched a new round of false, vicious robocalls, mailers, and attack ads – despite being warned to change his tone by a string of Republican leaders including Colin Powell and four sitting Republican senators. To combat his renewed effort to smear Barack Obama, the Obama campaign launched a fact-checking campaign centered around a new website, Radar.BarackObama.com. The site allows voters to report new attacks that pop up in their area – and get the facts about smears they’ve heard.
