I live in Texas and our primary is coming up on March 4th. I live in a small town and usually if they post election information(Even for presidential primaries/general elections) it's just a small article in the newspaper and I miss it. So does anyone have any information to give me.
Do I need to be a registered democrat to vote in this primary? I have never voted in a primary and the last election I voted in was 2004(I voted republican then). Can I just show up with my voter card/license and vote democrat?
I also heard someone say that in the morning there is a primary election in texas but then you have to go back in the evening for a caucus. That might be a problem for me because I work evenings. Does my vote not count if I don't attend both?
It may be a little soon to start panicking about not knowing what to do on March 4th, but I'd appreciate any information anyone can give me. Also in the town/area I live in I'm not expecting Obama to do well because most of the people here think he's a muslim(I wouldnt care if he were a muslim but the people around here think islam is so terrible)! Seriously the only election signs you even see around here have Ron Paul on them!
Most importantly, do all precincts have the extra caucus step?
Thanks for any help!
I'll start off by saying I am annoyed by superdelegates! I am happy that Obama picked up so many wins this 'Super Tuesday' but still dissapointed with California. I truly believe that Obama is our only hope for a future in this country. Why anyone would see Hillary Clinton as that is beyond me.
I have been going back and forth about who I wanted to vote for this year and have finally decided to vote for Obama(March 4 is the primary here in Texas and I am hoping it's a win for Obama, we do have a lot of delegates here). I will be donating money in a few minutes after I finish writing this lol.
As a last word, I am a Republican, and I shamefully admit I voted for Bush in 2004. And as I was watching election coverage this morning a commentator came out against Obama saying there was not a significant number of Republicans changing sides to vote for him. Obama had publicly spoke about how republicans in a few states were changing sides to vote in the primaries for him. Well I am, and other republicans I know are too. Though I don't support his position on every issue, I do on most issues. If any Republican took one look at the Bush Administration and one look at the republican candidates who fully intend to continue what Bush started, they would run to the democratic primary to vote. And hopefully for Obama!
