I have decided that Fox News is so biased that it no longer deserves to have me as a viewer. I am an African-American woman, who changed my party from democrat to republican eight years ago. However, because of what I see happening with Fox News and other right-wing conservative talk show hosts, including Rush Limbaugh I am ashamed that I ever aligned myself with your politics. I am now changing my party to independent and encouraging my children and my husband to do the same. Your overall approach to Sen Obama has been embarassing, shameful and derogatory.A recent example is the fact that someone from your network visited barackobama.com to scour the terrain to either plant dirt or to look for something that you might consider sensational and would offend the American public. The outcome was that you, as I said earlier, either planted our perhaps discovered the profile by a so-called militant group (Black Panthers) and blasted it on the Hannity and Colmes show to exacerbate the already over-blown story of Rev. Wright. This was the lowest of low. Your need to tarnish Sen Obama has become an obession. I believe that candidates do need to be vetted, however, there is a fine distinction between vetting and scurrilous, scandalous attacks. You need to go back to the basic attributes of good journalism and reacquaint yourselves with what it means to provide real news to the American public. Your tactics are despicable, to say the least. As important, you were such pushers of the Iraq war after 9/11, yet your obsession is so powerful with smearing Barack Obama, that your signature host, Sean Hannity, barely spent 5 minutes on the 5-year Iraq war anniversary speech given by the president today. Get a grip--you are looking very desparate. Barack Obama is handling his campaign in a respectable manner and when juxtaposed with your ranting and raving, it cast you in the worst possible light. It appears that you don't have the character or the integrity to conduct your journalism business with integrity and professionalism.Your obsession has reached the point of even being called racist by other networks and talk radio shows. I would not want to have that be my label if I were you. It is okay to be a right-wing conservative and a biased, inflexible network. Here is a wakeup call: It is not a good thing to be categorized as lending to the racial divide in this country. What you should be doing is advocating the same thing that Sen Obama has called us to. To look in the mirro, assess where we are individually, and try to be a part of healing this nation. You are the antithesis of what Barack referred to in his speech-- you are the old school divisive form of journalism that furthers racism and misunderstanding. Shame on you.
Note: I have also sent messages to advertisers of Fox News and intend to send a message to the owners of Fox News, expressing my disgust w/their un-American coverage.
I believe that Barack Obama is the person that America needs for these uncertain times. I am so thankful that he and his wife, Michelle, or willing to put their lives on the line to serve this country. I am an African-American woman, who is registered republican, who has been struck by Barack's person. He is gentle, genuine, wise and brilliant. I have been committed to Barack since the Iowa caucus. This was the first time that I realized what we had in him.
Each day I pray for his strength and for Michelle's strength. I know that Michelle is a strong woman, and sometimes I believe she is biting her tongue as politics continues across this nation as usual. I am ready to explode sometimes when I realize the inequities in the main stream media and in political parties. Yet, I have hope. Not blind optimism, but real live hope...that one day our country will be lead by a visionary, who does not find it repulsive to say, I made a mistake or who does not think that it is weird to care about people.
I am in this for the long haul. I hope that America does not let this opportunity fall along the wayside.
