Some of us may not have the money to contribute to the campaign but there is still something we can do.
We can spread the facts about Obama by using our email. Add a link to a Pro-Obama video (youtube) in your signature. If you use one of the social networks - Myspace/Facebook/Friendster, include a link in your comment or change your layout.
Do you like to blog? Then not only blog on your My Barack Obama page but also on your Blogger, Wordpress, Xanga, etc.
In other words help keep the focus on the issues. When you know of a lie that was spread then make sure you leave a comment, detailing the truth. Include links and backup when you can.
In one month we will have a new President. Let's do what we can to make sure that it is Barack Obama
It is sad to me that far too often many Republicans feel that their party is the only one that speak to and for Christians. To listen to some, you would think that you could not be a Christian and vote for a Democrat politician.
I am glad to find a group of Christians taking this issue head on. They also face so many of the falsehoods. Their website is at: http://www.matthew25.org/.
They have also taken the time to write a petition concerning Sarah Palin's speech. You can find it and sign it at http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/5167/t/3594/petition.jsp?petition_KEY=447.
Here is a bit of their text concerning Palin's convention speech.
If you watched Governor Sarah Palin's address to the Republican National Convention, we're sure you were as disappointed as we were in the tenor and content of the speech. As Christians, we are called to be respectful and loving toward our neighbors, honoring their intentions even if we disagree. We are also called to be truthful in all things, to "put away falsehood" (Eph 4:25) and refrain from slandering, belittling, or speaking out of contempt for anyone. If these are the standards God has set for us in our personal lives, our church communities, and our neighborhoods, how much more so should they be for those who choose to be in the public eye? Shouldn't we expect our brothers and sisters in politics to also speak the truth in love and to extend respect and goodwill even to those who disagree with them? It's because of these standards, and because Governor Palin is so public about her Christian faith, that the Matthew 25 Network found her address at the Republican National Convention so disappointing. We call on her not only as a political figure, but as a prominent Christian, to commit herself to campaigning in good faith, with love and respect for her political opponents and a strong commitment to truth-telling.
Please join religious leaders Brian McLaren, Douglas W. Kmiec, Rev. Dr. Susan B. Thistlethwaite, Vince Miller, Peter Vander Meulen, Rev. Dr. Derrick Harkins, Bart Campolo, Sharon Daly, Rev. Wilfredo De Jesus, and Delores Leckey by signing on to the statement.
As always, please consider a donation to help us keep spreading our message.
While I find she is pretty good at delivering a speech, I was shocked at some of her claims.
Also, I'm a bit weary in general when people insist on dragging out lines out of context. Just like I don't like hearing the McCain's $5 million line repeated over and over, I am way over tired of hearing about Mrs. Obama's proud statement (never provided with context) and Senator Obama's bitter statement with no one ever bothering to include the context.
Anyway, I was glad to see that the AP broke down some of the FACTS in their article at http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_fact_check
here is a snippet:
Some examples:
PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."
THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

I am sitting here impatiently waiting to hear his speech. I am so glad that I have lived long enough to see this moment.
How are you feeling?
Wading through messages about McCain's whining, Media Bias, Barack's looks, and I'm wondering what am I spending my time on. I do like to stay informed but if I am just reading messages and doing nothing about it than for myself it is wasted time.
So since I spent about an hour basically wading through messages/email (still not under 900). I am gonig to spend the next 1 hour doing things will get Barack elected. Time for me to send out more fundraising emails, make some calls, write to the offices of the companies that have spread misinformation. Then after this hour me and my Obama shirt is going to hit the road and make an impact on those around me. There is simply too much to do.
Wanna Join Me in your part of the world?
In Los Angeles we have some voter registration going on at the Convention Center today. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it but I know that Voter Registration is something we really must work on.
So today's challenge for myself is to contact the college age family members in my family - letter, email and call and see if they are registered to Vote. I'm going to also make an extra effort to reach out to family and friends that I have in Florida and Arizona.
So what are you doing today?
P.S. I am glad to see that CNN did address the fact that McCain is trying to make a point of Obama not voting for something that McCain himself did not bother voting for. We must get the word out. Look at the link for more information and be willing to confront the lies and misinformation in a respectable manner.
Here is the link: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/07/11/mccain-misfires-on-obama-attack/
Here is a portion of the story:
In a statement criticizing Obama’s positions on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the organization claiming credit for the missile launches, McCain wrote, “This is the same organization that I voted to condemn as a terrorist organization when an amendment was on the floor of the United States Senate. Senator Obama refused to vote.”
The problem with the critique? McCain also missed that vote on the Kyl-Lieberman amendment on September 26, 2007. Records show that Obama was in New Hampshire and McCain was in New York instead of being in the Senate chamber for the vote in question.
I've been thinking that now I must commit to doing some positive step each day. From now until November I want to commit to doing some action step that will help get Obama in the White House. I've really appreciated how his campaign does include everyone and really encourages people to discuss, make changes as oppose to trying to lump all people in a For/Against mode.
Since I plan on having in home work days for the next two days wearing my Obama Gear would not be that effective. So my Daily Challenge for today (it is mostly for me but anyone can join) is geared towards fundraising.
I've created a fundraising page but have not done much with it. So, today I am going to do the fundraising email step using my online address book. This will also serve to help me open up dialogue with my friends/co-workers/acquaintances. Let them know where I stand and encourage them to join the effort.
I also believe this will help give me a chance to discuss voter registration as well as make sure I'm educated on the issues to address some of their concerns.
So, if you like to join me with my daily challenge. Please do. Stay fired up.
P.S. Don't let the Homeless Vet Bill go undiscussed.
Each day I hope to do something to get the word out and keep things on a pretty positive vibe.
What is my positive step for the day? Share a youtube video. Wanna join me? Maybe you use blogger, wordpress, buzznet, myspace, facebook. If so go to http://youtube.com/user/barackobamadotcom?ob=4, and choose one that fits the mesage you want to share and include it on your blog. You can even share a link in your email signature. This is the one I am choosing to share today, it doesn't cost money on my end and will still get the word out.

Let's strive to make a positive impact each day. Have a great week
November seems so far off but it will be here before we know it. I admit - I'm nervous. Why? I truly believe Barack should have won both of the last two states. He won only one. I think it will be important to keep the energy up. (which may be difficult in this heat). We must stay active. We must keep the word out and combat any negativity.
If you read this do something each "today". It could be wearing a shirt. Keeping extra stickers/buttons to pass along. Keep our community strong by attending events when possible. Let the organizers know their efforts are not in vain. When things seem tough imagine it is probably tough on others and offer that kind word and understanding ear.
Today MoveOn.Org is having "Hungry for Change" bake sales nationwide. I am not a member but I did sign up to volunteer. Maybe you can check and see if one is near you. The website is http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/index.html?rc=homepage&action_id=123
I truly believe each positive step I can make is a step in the right direction. I do not want to walk alone though, so can you take a step with me?
As we go about our chores and errands, lets remember to get the word out about Barack Obama. Wear your shirt, buttons or stickers (and maybe take a few extra to pass out). November will be here before we know it lets keep the momentum up (or build it up).
Have a great and safe weekend everyone. Be part of the change.
Thanks for taking the time to join and show your support. I am sure with each new person the excitement and ideas will grow. I truly believe that a Barack Obama presidency can make a difference.
Look forward to working with you and learning from you all. Have a great Sunday!
I am anxiously waiting for my shirts to arrive. (anxious but not patient) November will be hear before we know it and we must stay fired up.
If you have a button, a sticker, a shirt - wear them when you can. Be pleasant. This is the pep talk I've given myself. I've decided to make an extra effort to be kind, even when confronted with rude people. Why? It is not that I'm weak but I know how people would love to stereotype Obama Supporters in a negative light. I will not back down but I will be kind.
I encourage you to also do the same. Confront the fear tactics with the facts and the truth. You do not have to back down or listen to craziness but don't let others pull you to their level. We are working together towards making things better. Keep your eye on the prize.
On running a race with dignity and class.
You worked hard and you deserve the nomination!
Also thanks, for never failing to give credit when credit is due.
I am extremely disappointed that Senator Watson has not endorsed Barack Obama even though the district she represents - my district - voted overwhemingly for Mr. Obama.
I must admit I am also disappointed in myself - for not calling her on it and having her address it one way or the other. That changes TODAY. I may be just one person but this one person will be contacting Senator Watson and letting her at least know where I stand.
If you are a resident of her district and would like to join me , you can respectfully contat her at
