EnvirObama is a completely grassroots endeavor, started by a group of strangers who were brought together by their concern for the environment and the fact that they recognize that Barack Obama is the only candidate with enough visionary leadership to tackle the immense environmental challenges of the 21st century.
EnvirObama was formed by members of Environmentalists for Obama to encourage voters, the media, and the 2008 presidential candidates to recognize the vital importance of addressing issues affecting our environment. We realize Senator Obama hasn't addressed every environmental issue that plagues our world, and many of us even feel like he could do better in some areas, but despite our differences, each of us believes that he is willing to listen and make changes based on sound judgment, rather than special interests and party politics.
At this stage in the presidential race, there are not a lot of ways to attract attention, however, the Obama campaign has garnered great media recognition due to the impressive size of his campaign rallies and his unsurpassed online fund raising success. Our idea is to combine concern for the environment with Barack Obama's wide appeal and extensive grassroots support by recruiting people to make an official campaign donation in support of Barack Obama and the environment, on Earth Day - April 22, 2008, to show that green matters!. The success of this endeavor will show that the environment, while usually relegated to the bottom of the list of people's top ten concerns, is in fact a strong viable issue in the 2008 campaign.
Two years ago, my father died of ALS...also known as Lou Gherigs Disease. Prior to his diagnosis he couldn't remember the last time he was sick. He was healthy and happy and the best father anyone could hope for.
During the quick decline in his health a local reporter (Chera Kimiko), who has taken on ALS as her cause, came into our lives. She has proven to be more than just a reporter...but also a friend and a unstoppable advocate. Aside from the many things she does on behalf of ALS patients throughout the year, she organizes a fund raiser called "Hunt for a Cure" We went to the fund raiser dinner this past Saturday. It was an amazing night for so many reasons...but the end (which was an Obama moment) was like the cherry on top!
We sat at a table with two couples we had never met before. Throughout the night we laughed and cheered on the auctions and found that we shared alot in common. The older couple was donating a puppy from the no-kill animal shelter they just started. The younger couple was donating a dinner prepared in the winners home, by the man, who is a personal chef. They asked what I was donating...I said "my dad." Both of their auctions sold for $10,000 each - of which every penny will go to ALS reasearch and outreach....their contrbuitions (and the generous bidders) mean more to me than they could imagine.
At the end of the night a photographer came over to take our picture and we gathered together...I had my purse on my shoulder, which happened to have my big Obama button on it. One of our new friends shouted "HA! they're Obama supporters - now wonder we hit it off so well!!" Come to find out...both couples were also Obama supporters.
I went home with the most amazing feeling...one I have felt before - the feeling that the skies the limit!
here is some photos (the small one is the group photo, the other two are my dad)
This is my response to John...a fellow Obama supporter and environmentalist who thanked me for my contribution to www.envirobama.com & shared his inspiration with me...
John,I have always been one to take things into my hands and never one to think anything was beyond my reach - but I have never ever had the slightest inkling that I had any control over the government and/or the decisions it makes. When I had the "ah-ha" moment while watching Mr.Obama - there was no turning back. I saw the possibility of what could be and what SHOULD be and knew that I would take any opportunity within my means to help ensure he is our next president. This is one of many steps in that direction... I am glad that there are others who share my passion and want to make it happen as bad as I do. What boggles my mind, warms my heart, and puts a smile on my face more than anything... is that every single person that I have met on my Obama journey has been some of the most amazing people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, people I never would have met otherwise. We have become a society of people who does not reach out, who does not interact with people we don't know. Obama has opened the door for us to reach out to our neighbors far and wide and find common bonds and unite for one cause (the betterment of our nation) - THAT is amazing!
Thank YOU!
I really don't see how he can not win.I know its possible BUT it seems impossible.I have tried to image what life will be like if he doesn't get the nomination or presidency and it's really hard to imagine. Where will all this energy go...these people who've come together for the greater good - I just don't know.he's going to win - he HAS to!
your thoughts?
The California First Lady will make a surprise appearance on-stage at the Sunday event, backed by the candidate’s wife Michelle Obama, talk show host Oprah Winfrey and Shriver’s cousin Caroline Kennedy
yes...the terminators (who endorsed mccain) wife.

I am converting people one at a time...
I figure if I convert one they will convert one and so it goes...the momentum of change is in full motion.
The most common comments are : but he is MUSLUM or I don't like his name
It really does not take much common sense to conclude that those two excuses are pretty rediculous.
Today, while trying to convince my mother...I let myself slip (I've been trying not to say anything which could be construed as negative) and said -
"the difference between the rumors about Obama and the rumors about Hillary is...the ones about Hillary are true - the ones about Obama are not!"
We have just a few days left and it seems, more often than now, that the people who are undecided are under informed and just need some justification/reassurance to sway them in the direction of Obama.
If you don't have any Obama "gear" make some! Just like ahand written note is more meaningful than a computer printed letter - a hand made sign/shirt/sticker can make more impact than a glossy manufactured item.
for the most simple, but effective, gear you can...write ASK ME WHY I'M VOTING for OBAMA for PRESIDENT on duck tape and stick it on your back :)
Since I've started advertising Obama everywhere I go (poster boards on my car, t-shirts, stickers, etc)...I have had many interactions that I probably wouldn't have had if I hadn't been a moving Obama ad.
The best one yet happened today at.....
Chuck-E-Cheeses...where a kid can be a kid (and an adult can get a headache!)
I was at the salad bar (in my -Hope 2008 Obama- shirt) and a lady & her family approached me.
She tapped me and said " can I ask you a question?"
I said "sure"
she said "ARE YOU FIRED UP?!?"
I said "you have no idea how fired up I am!"
she went on to tell me I was doing a good job and reassured me that Obama's going to win!
I really am thoroughly impressed with the people I've met at the Obama meetings and in random Obama related interactions. They all have an amazing energy about them. They are positive and friendly and eager. I get a feeling from them that, with only one known shared interest (Obama) we would probably enjoy each others company and could easily be friends.
I've never been interested or involved in any other election, so maybe I'm disillusioned...maybe other candidates supporters experience the same thing - but something tells me thats not the case. For a candidate to pull so many different people from so many places together and move them to get involved in the politcal process, long before his taking office is a reality - is, in my opinion, phenominal.
It's almost as if there was this simmering of people just about to boil and along comes Obama to turn down the heat ...
I took the suggestion to write a letter to the editor, and am sharing it below. It only takes a few minutes, if you can spare a few...I hope you'll write a letter too!
Dear Tulsa World Editor & Readers, I have hand painted (by my 11 yr old son) Obama poster boards taped to the back of my car, an Obama shirt for every day of the week, I'm armed with fliers, stickers, and most of all HOPE! Although some people might think I'm a little over zealous with my efforts to encourage others to vote for Senator Obama, I know now...more than ever, the person we elect will profoundly influence my future, but more importantly my children's future. For the first time ever, I am inspired to be interested/involved in politics and feel like my vote and my efforts are worthwhile. I hope many others will join me in getting fired up and taking an active role in creating the changes needed to ensure we all have a better future. -- Amie C. I have made a point to hang an Obama flyer everywhere I go (if allowed)...I'm calling it "Random Acts of Obama"
I feel like the more people see him and his message, the more they will realize there are alot of people supporting him, and consider joining in the push to make Senator Obama our president in 2008.
I plan to post pictures of some of my Random Acts of Obama here...I encourage others, expecially those who are not able to canvass or call, to try it too!
This is the Vietnamese grocery store (Tulsa, OK) where I hung some Obama flyers. The man gave me a thumbs up and said "OBAMA is GOOD"
He's 3 and he needs a president who will look out for his best interests and be a good role model - he needs Obama!
