TX Medicaid system only will help me NOW if I get pregnant. To me, I would rather support one person, rather than them and their child they cannot afford. For me to get pregnant would be an act of stupidity/desperation due to lack of health insurance. My severe Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Lyme’s Disease, and Diabetes, I did NOTHING to contract. Pregnancy, except for cases of Rape/Incest is self-caused. Why only help the pregnant?
I even went through the whole SSI process with a lawyer, took 2 yrs, but I won. Bitter sweet though, I got $2 K back pay for 2004-2006, then was told Ken made $100 too much for 2 people to get any more SSI, and I was 2 work credits short to get SSDI!
Recently as Ken separated from me and lost his job, I went back as I have next to NO income. They told me it had been 2 yrs, too long to automatically resume SSI. They are making me start ALL OVER!!! Will it take 2 more years!!! Now I am without meds the Cataplexy is Horrible, and the applications to get PPA from Nord, etc are impossibly lengthy and exhausting. Uggh,

The problem with Capitalism is that eventually we run out of the Middle Class's Money, and run them so far into the ground, that they cannot even afford food, shelter, health care.
What is the rate of increase Health Insurance Premiums have raised in comparison to Wages? 3 times. Eventually with this rate going up, almost the entire nation will be unable to afford private Health Insurance, or even employer sponsored HC Insurance. In 50yrs, if this reform is not passed, there will be a revolution for HC reform, I almost guarantee it.
Of course we could just wait for big Pharma and Health Insurance to play fair. Hmmm…. Profit Motive will never bring them to abide by fairness. Currently, the middle class is taxed the most in our society, and has been for decades. This is a Regressive Tax System. Heck, even a flat tax is a regressive tax, because we all have to buy the essentials of life. The rich pay less proportion in taxes, and thus have more unfairly, while the middle class blindly has been taxed to the bone for decades! Don't assume I don't like capitalism. That is not the case. Capitalism works as long as there is competition. Health Care is not working with the purely capitalistic model. Sorry, it is not. Do I like some aspects of Socialism, yes, I do. Do I think we should be a complete Socialistic Nation, No, I don't.

Do NOT CAVE and GIVE UP the Public Option. Please Be Strong. So many will be disappointed, and perhaps even worse die without this reform. Please stand up for what you believe in, as do so many Americans, Canadians, and British. Health Care Affordability and Access is as important a human right as is Freedom of Speech and Religion. Of course any reform will be better than none; however, we need big change to fight greed and corruption, as well as ensure quality. We need preventative medicine and stress reduction to be the new focus and health care. Current “Sick Care” is to “Preventative Medicine as “Regular Car Maintenance” is to “waiting till your car breaks down, costing much more money and damage.

It is the difference between getting your car maintatenanced vs. waiting until it stops running to get it fixed for a much higher cost. Pre-existing clauses is why many even wealthy self-employed or underinsured persons cannot get health insurance. Obviously it is not just the dirt poor, disabled, or unemployed suffering, but all the ones WHO Make this great nation go round!

Totally a nightmare, unless it is true that all poor folks, esp. the ones waiting for SSI approval, who I call America’s Forgotten get Medicaid. Current Law in Texas Medicaid only helps kids, the pregnant, those already with SSI approval, and those with rare forms of breast and cervical cancer. Most Americans do not know that not everyone really poor can get Medicaid who needs it. verage either. SSA made me start from scratch all over again. Didn't the insurance companies spend over 15 billion dollars in 1994, in negative add campaigns, to kill reform to our health insurance system? I wonder how much they are spending this time?
