WHAT GENDER NEEDS BETTER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM?
Let us answer the question from different perspectives (!) and no need to be a feminist, communist or atheist to see the truth....
We just need to be a HUMAN BEING with COMMON SENSE.
1) In the world of MANkind, women's health related needs are more than men because women's biological structure is more complicated than men's and their role in the family is full of responsibilities, which are much more than men's. More pain, heartbreak, headache, etc.
2) Women at work force are mostly paid much less than men with the same cost of health insurance premiums although they are likely to be hired easier and more preferable than men are, especially in the administrative positions in many private companies and academic environments, which have more available vacancies.
3) Women are mostly more considerate and worried about the “real life issues” like a financially secure future for themselves and their children, the health of the family members. They go to doctor for a check-up more often and listen to more stuff about health issues and all other stuff, therefore, they are more conscious about their weight, aging and physical appearances.
4) The number of men who smoke are more than women who smoke because men don’t take care of themselves and more irresponsible about their own health matters. They think they are invincible as long as they keep their sexual activeness or till the moment they feel that they hit the bottom… like the last stages of diseases such as cancer or other fatal ones.
5) Men generally live shorter than women do if they are not selfish enough to worry about nothing except for themselves. The retirement period for men is much shorter than women’s because they have weaker health and die earlier than their wives although women age faster than men do regarding physical appearance. So, they are more concerned about aging and worried about losing their husband to a younger or younger-looking woman.
6) Women use more medication than men do although they have more friends to share about their worries, problems, personal issues, rumors, gossips as well as be able to easily cry and get rid of the problem partially… They are also more talkative and comfortably exchange feelings and thoughts.
7) Women do like attention more than men in most cases… but more jealous and obsession negatively affect their health conditions, too.
8) Religious approach is unfortunately worse one because it always ignores the "humanistic value" of life and woman is the forgotten gender in most belief systems created and adjusted by men, who were all the holy books were sent. Women are supposed to do their reproductive duties and give pleasure to the men they were created to serve to. Although man and woman make the baby together, and the woman has to carry and take care of it, while the man is spreading the sperm without any other responsibility and with the proud of his manhood, the woman is banned to make decision for herself and her unborn child because of some men-made religious / dogmatic boundaries.
9) The company owners are mostly men, and they don’t want to pay for health of his employees and ignoring the facts on purpose to make more profit. Most of the executives are men and they are paid well enough not to mind the cost of the doctor’s visits or medications.
10) Women have to take care of themselves more than men do when they have sex with or using public restrooms. I observed that many men don’t wash their hands after using the restroom. Women are more considerate about personal hygiene. AIDS, HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases are caused mostly by men, including the homosexual sexual contact. In the U.S. and some European countries, the cultural perspective and tolerance to “anything goes” life style makes the women’s lives more risky since the men act as a main virus transmitter in this specific issue.
11) Health care and other health related issues need the policy making level attention from our government. Like traffic rules, or banking laws, we need more regulations and rules in public places, restrooms, restaurants, hospitals, or schools. One’s freedom is limited by the freedom of other individuals. Therefore, every single individual is responsible for his or her health and personal hygiene as part of the social life in a civilized society.
Money doesn’t solve all the problems; some social and personal hygiene, spiritual support and solidarity for each other are all part of the sign of a civilized society. The richest country in the world and people should be a model by acting in a more civilized responsible and considerate way…
I am sure you may add more or omit accordingly. But I believe that if men in charge in the senate and the House were more considerate and not so selfish, the health care reform would have been done decades ago.
Respectfully,
Alp Icoz, M.A.
"In religiously conservative countries, the situation of women is really bad. In fact, most of the women are in similar conditions and suffer from the torturing life style that the men enforce in their countries. It is really sad to see how the men-created regimes based on religion affect the lives of women, children and youth... Why do women as the creatures of a secondary gender (!) need rights and equality that men have? There are millions of dangerously narrow minded men and ignorantly victimized women who still ask this question and cannot understand the concept of 'female' who has mutual rights of co-existing genders that were divinely created. What a double standard of an egoist mentality!!! The problems of women in the conservatively governed and male-centered countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey (partially), and more ---no matter what religion their demagogy, narrow mindedness and poor judgment is serving ... The suffer of women and children all around the world is still the bleeding wound of mankind in the 21st century..."
Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner :
"Be realistic about the trouble facing your economy. Develop rescue initiatives sooner rather than later. And make them big enough to meet the challenges ahead. You've seen the new administration in the U.S. move with unprecedented speed, not just to work with the Congress to authorize new resources to help strengthen the financial system, but to move very, very quickly to put in place this very powerful economic recovery plan."
"What's important now is you hear around the world a much greater sense of urgency and commitment . . . We all recognize that the power of what we do individually will be much more effective if we move together."
Britain's Chancellor Alistair Darling said in an interview.
"What Tim Geithner wanted to do is set out the framework in which he's operating. But he's made it very clear that he sees the urgency of this. It's quite clear that the new American administration is getting into its stride, it wants to make a real difference not just for Americans but for the wider world."
Withholding critical details was a conscious choice by Geithner and his team, the official said in an interview. They wanted to avoid the mistakes of the Bush administration, which announced proposals before fully debating them and then quickly abandoned them when it realized they would not work. Geithner and his staff also wanted to coordinate their proposals with lawmakers, the private sector and their counterparts overseas.
I am so proud to be part of President Barack Obama's historical movement in the U.S. and worldwide. As a proud citizen of this country, I am confident to say that President Barack Obama with his great charisma has been the unique opportunity and blessing for us the Americans and nations of other countries. He has proven that there is hope for the future and people can succeed only if they unite and believe in the common values to lift humanistic values... Thank you, my president. You always make me cry not because of sadness, but great proud and happiness.... We are so pleased to see these beautiful days of history... in which we witness the possibility of making a difference and change our country to a much better one...
"And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart. "

"Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each New Year find you a better man."
Benjamin Franklin
I think President Obama has all the humanistic qualities in the description of a true MAN by Rudyard Kipling in his poem "IF". I am so proud to be able to say that my president is the MAN of virtues to lift up the standards of humanistic values in our country and the world from now on... I dedicate this poem to President Barack Obama...
IF
If you can keep your head when all about youAre losing theirs and blaming it on you,If you can trust yourself when all men doubt youBut make allowance for their doubting too,If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,Or being hated, don't give way to hating,And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;If you can meet with Triumph and DisasterAnd treat those two impostors just the same;If you can bear to hear the truth you've spokenTwisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winningsAnd risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,And lose, and start again at your beginningsAnd never breath a word about your loss;If you can force your heart and nerve and sinewTo serve your turn long after they are gone,And so hold on when there is nothing in youExcept the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;If all men count with you, but none too much,If you can fill the unforgiving minuteWith sixty seconds' worth of distance run,Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
--Rudyard Kipling
