I was thrilled to watch Pres. Can. Obama's announcement this morning. And glad that this community blog exists for me to share my exuberance with.

I made a donation. I don't usually make donations.
But hey! After I make the donation.....
"Contribution Processed

Go to the home page."
How much did you take from my credit card? Verify the info!
....(2 minutes later)....oh....I see....you sent me an email....but please, most people will still feel uneasy before they check their email....so verify before you take the money. Thanks.
....(5 minutes later)...Hey an online store to buy campaign buttons!...Oh, I need to enter my payment info all over again?....Oh, the shipping cost is more than the button but you don't say that up-front?....sigh.....

On the seeds of this blog

This is a great setup. Every posting a blogger makes allows for comments by other people, and has a link so the blogger or anyone can easily email a friend.
I felt a little bit lonely when I opened this "My Dashboard" and found no messages, no contacts, no friends. I'd love to have a message from Barack or one of his staff to greet me. I'd love to see a link to "Barack TV" which introduces me to this site. Barack's Feb 9 message detailing the features here won't be seen by a lot of people. Send a message to my Inbox and welcome me!
I write these suggestions because of my background in online marketing and online community building. I'd like to be involved.
Wouldn't it be neat if there was a section where we can say, "This is how I'd like to help!" and others can say, "Hey, get over here and help!"
Blogs are a great start. Now I'm lookin for community.

This is a terrific start

This BarackObama.com website is a terrific start. I'm confident that the My.BarackObama.com subsite will attract a lot of supporters and ideas.
The videos of Barack and Michelle are compelling and it's interesting to me to watch the facial expressions of Barack in the last few seconds of his clip -- he looks like a little kid.
Drawing on the legacy of Lincoln has its pros and cons, and I'm excited to see how this turns out.
I'd like to be involved, and so the opportunity to host and attend events is terrific.
Why not, instead of only having My Fundraising as a section on the dashboard here, have My Supporters, or My Votes? Because really isn't that what voting is about? Not money, but results. Why can't we say that we've gotten 5 people or 500 people passionate about this campaign, about these ideals? Focus on the bottom line of results, of passion, of 'wow!' results, of participation in this process, of which votes are the tip of the iceberg. Money? Come on, we can do better than that.
