According to spokesman Chris Riggall of Deibold, a "critical programming error that can cause votes to be dropped while being electronically transferred from memory cards to a central tallying point" has been part of the software for ten years. The flaw is on both optical scan and touchscreen machines, and while Mr. Riggall asserts that the logic error probably didn't ruin any elections (speaking of logic error...), the outfit's president has confessed to being "distressed" about the ordeal. More like "distressed" about the increasingly bleak future of his company.
I don't know about anyne else, but here in Ohio we've got a mess. I was tempted to vote by mail, but once it's in the mailbox, it's literally out of my hands. But with all the problems with Diebold, who really feels secure about their vote actually being tallied even when you vote in person?
We can put a man on the moon...yada, yada, yada.
She warns in the memo that the party's quest to win back the White House could be damaged if the dispute is not settled, pointing to what she called the ''dangerously low'' results of a poll that found just 63 percent of Democratic voters would vote for the Democratic nominee in the November election ``if Florida voters are not counted.''
''Because of the unprecedented nature of the national race, a situation that previously was a relatively minor, party-insider issue now has the potential to result in irrepable damage for years to come,'' she wrote in the five-page proposal that went to Democratic National Committee members and both campaigns.
What a freakin' mess! A Republican governor started all this. See the full story at...

Yes, there are similarities in rhetorical style, K. Kiplinger states. As Kennedy did in 1960, Obama is inspiring idealistic young voters to get involved in the political process and public service. Like Kennedy, Obama is seeking to unite Americans of disparate races and backgrounds. Like Kennedy, Obama is a young man of great charisma and personal charm, but with a modest record of legislative accomplishment in the Senate, due to brief service.
Race baiting preacher Al Sharpton is threatening a lawsuit if the Democratic party seats Florida's delegates at the convention based on the primary held last January.
Oh NOOOOO!! Please, somebody, anybody; tell Sharpton to stay out of it!
This article raised my eyebrows. And I know Barry's a Christian but I had to put this out there to let others known what some are suggested to better equip ourselves. I'm a little concerned.
Concerns about the Muslim background of Democratic United States Presidential candidate, United States Senator Barack Obama, have been expressed by a best selling author, who is herself a former Muslim. She said the Illinois Senator's election might send the wrong signal to America's enemies. Former Muslim Brigitte Gabriel said she has concerns about Senator Obama being raised by a Muslim stepfather and attending a Muslim school as a child.
The most annoying, worst idea for a campaign tool ever! I'm sorry, but if there's one way to turn people off real quick, it's with an Obama ringtone. Whoever thought it was a good idea to greenlight Obama's voice over a heavy drumbeat ringing out "We can have universal healthcare in this country! We can do that!" or the synth disco beat behind "America, it is time to start bringing our troops home!" Seriousy?!
This was a bad call, simply obnoxious. Sorry. At least the Daily Show had some fun with it.
I thought this was HILLARYous! Scary even! This is the competition?!
NEWARK, New Jersey (CNN) -- The woman described by Bob Woodward as a spiritual adviser to first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton disputed several of Woodward's published assertions Sunday night .
Jean Houston, interviewed at the Newark Airport by CNN, said that Mrs. Clinton did indeed have imaginary conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt at Houston's suggestion.
"(But) that was maybe four minutes out of hours and hours of conversation," she said.
