If it's not apparent to you, you're not paying attention. The republican agenda, and philosophy of most modern American conservatives, is based entirely in response to new deal democrats. Oooh they hate us sooo much. How dare we force hard working executives to give back to those free-loaders down on the line. That's why they pick the Sarah Palins when a women loses, and Michael Steele when a black man wins. And this response has created a party that is disgustingly disillusioned, and dangerous to a progressive future.
Modern conservative thought flies in the face of all established belief amongst the greatest thinkers in history, including the lord of the religion they claim to follow. Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed, and Confucius; all agree that the way to an enlightened society is to strive for something bigger than ourselves.
To believe their mindless babble a conservative must go to great lengths to justify their greed and heartlessness. Lindsay Graham hates earmarks but uses them frequently. Rush Limbaugh has been divorced twice but rails in defense of marriage's sanctity. Gay bashers are gay. And worthless bank executives foreclose on thousands of homes but coming running when the hammer's coming down on them.
They don't stand for personal responsibility. They just don't want to be responsible for YOU. They don't stand up for smaller government. They don't want government helping the poor. They think poor is by choice and they are certainly not giving up their hard-earned money to help out those bums on main street. And for all their professed patriotism, they sure do seem close to secession... again.
I fear your revolution, patriot. You revolt against the brotherhood of man. Your is a reformation against knowledge. Your cause is self-interest, and your enemy is the universal right to the pursuit of happiness.
To the conservative it is a sin for companies to sacrifice a little short term profit to provide a quality product at a decent price. That's disloyal to the shareholders. Teachers are only in it to put forth a liberal agenda. Artists create works for the money. And unions should shut up and take pay cuts when the companies going bad, but executives need us to stand up for their contracts when they run it into the ground. Oh, wait, most house republicans ended up voting to tax the contracts anyway.
The neocon transformers want us liberals to be their bogeyman. They want to scare you with stories of socialism. But we will not apologize for a literate society, a 70 year life span, a car in every garage, and highways from New York, to San Francisco, and even to Freedom, Ohio. We take pride in Universal Suffrage, and we relish in the scientific revolution. Liberal spending put a man on the moon and it will one day mine asteroids and explore deep space. And we will not back down from that.
I am alone. I just want to know what it is that I can’t seem to get right. I cannot make a relationship work. Love, to me, is stepping out from the bushes into the most beautiful view you have ever seen, only to find out you have stepped off the edge of a cliff and are now plunging to your imminent demise.
I live, I love, yet I am alone. I seek, I find, yet I am alone. I struggle on without shame or pity; the world’s problems are far bigger than anything I could burden them with, yet I am alone.
I do not choose to be alone. I flirt, and engage. Yet I rarely get a response. Then, once in a while, I do get a response. And it fills my soul with a passion not rivaled by Mars. I push it further; perhaps I don’t push it far enough. But I expect a self-respecting woman to put in her fair share of the work.
Something happens every time that I cannot explain. I recognize it, yet I can’t make out it what it is. I try to stop it, yet I know it can’t be stopped. The Great Cosmic Reality offers no protection against this rampaging demon.
What is this love they tell me about? What is this fairy tale that is the true leading cause of divorce? How do I combat its evil, destructive power? What can I do to make them realize the power of true, lasting love? Monogamy is a fraud to all but the hopeless.
I still believe in the noble qualities; honesty, fairness, willingness to confront and overcome one’s demons, trust, empowerment, sacrifice, generosity. But they don’t seem to impress anyone.
Do I expect too much? I don’t expect anything. I hope for the best. But, after a fortnight or two, she always comes to realize she doesn’t want to be with me. Why? What have I done to be burdened by this curse?
I am alone and for strength I give my love to the world.
It is sad to me the extent to which people in the modern age still try to pry on the superstitions and fears of the masses. And it is the saddest to me when this is done using religion. I just cannot abide by such hate-mongering.
The vast majority of people are members of some religous orginization. And most of the ones that aren't, have some form of spirituality. And the rest, still believe in the power of Good. This is because most of us search for a higher meaning and a greater good.
But the selfish and the callous people will try to play upon the fears of these spiritual people. And this will cause them to fall into all kinds of detrimental arguments that they believe are saving the world. It just pains me inside.
I wrote this to hand out to people at the events I hold. Tell me what you think. Thank you.
A nation is most easily defined as a diverse mass of people whom identify with each other based on various traits they share in common; language, religion, history, or like of a certain cheese. A pact is made amongst the individuals that they will provide for the protection of all the other members of that nation. Many, if not most, may not live up to that pact, and it may be very loosely defined what protection they will provide. But, nations whose people take active leadership, and whose leaders clearly define what protections they will provide, these are the nations that stand the test of time.
When the people of a nation stop directing the course of their own destiny, and their governments don’t provide them with the freedom to do so, their ability to keep pace with the other nations begins to decline. Many times as this happens, people begin to lose hope and give up their engagement, relying on the fear mongers to protect them from their perceived threats. And the cycle further progresses with more people losing hope and giving up leadership. One of the first pacts a nation should make is in making sure its citizens have the ability and desire to bring about the better world they crave.
This is what our nation did when they created our constitution. We were given the freedom to engage each other, to protect ourselves and our property, and to insure fair legal practices. Though there were things left out, or even not thought of that should have been in it, the constitution was a protection never seen in the world before. It assured that this nation would allow its people to stand up for themselves and actively promote a better world.
Over time, zealots and autocrats found ways to rework the system to benefit themselves. And though we have pushed them back time and again, we need once again to battle back the forces of tyranny. Nobody is content nor do they trust their government. And voting rates are almost worthless. It Is being said that it is time for change. But the change that is needed most is for the people to regain their power to lead themselves.
Adam E Zandarski
The greatest battle the world faces is that between fear (which breeds selfishness) and progress. It is fear which holds back modernity. It is fear that breeds division. And it is fear which allows people to justify callousness.
Fear causes the stem cell research ban. Fear allows global warming to continue its course. Fear holds back the technologies of the future (you know, the ones we were supposed to have already). Let go your fear and face the world that is much bigger than you.
Fear is the cause of LGBT persecution. Fear warms the fires of racism and sexism. Fear causes the "liberal/conservative" divide. Let go your fear and accept the people which God created.
Fear is what allows us to debate the merits of torture. Fear will not extend Habeaus Corpus to all peoples. Fear allows one to believe his persecutions are just. Let go your fear and realize your conscious self.
Fear can only be conquered through the realization that your self is not that important. It is the power of you have been given to bring about change that is important. And it is up to you wether you will allow fear to control that destiny, or progress.
It has come out today that the campaign feels it does not need Ohio to win the election. This is a grave decision if they decide to give up campaigning here. This state is in a delecate balance right now. We may have just elected a Democratic governor, but there are still a lot of "Limbaugh Red-Staters" inflamed at the so-called liberal agenda. We in this state HAVE to pick up the slack where the campaign leaves off. If they won't campaign here, we will campaign HARDER than they do in any other state.
This state has been slowly slipping down the tubes recently. If we allow our representatives to forget about us, we will never regain our prominence. If you believe the same, I need your feedback on what you think we can do.
The republican activists are beginning to come out of the woodwork. Soon their tyrades of dishonesty and scare tactics will threaten the progress of this movement. It is up to us to counter back, hard, with the Truth. We cannot afford to sit by with complacency anymore.
I was reading this article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/going_after_obama) discussing the recent resignation of Jim Johnson, and the mounting attack on Eric Holder. The contention is that people so connected to the nation's largest mortgagers shouldn't be a member of the team to find the vice-president, especially in this housing crisis. Though these people wouldn't be attacking fannie-mae if they had anything else to stand on, I'm going to have to say I agree with them.
I don't know all the details of this story, but, appearances are everything. If our message is against lobbyists and corporate representatives, the last thing we want is one high in our ranks. I don't know, I would love to hear some more detail from you.
The story then goes on about Obama saying it would have been easier on us had gas prices not rose so sharply so quickly. I was reading an article I wrote four years ago that was complaining about $2 a gallon. I think its apparent that the speed of the rise was the real problem. We can watch prices rise by the day... that sounds like the Soviet Union.
And even though Barack said if fuel efficiency rose along with prices "(encourage the market to adapt, particularly US automakers)" the problem would almost be moot, that is not going to get a mention by these dellusional partisans. The good of any message is lost when people see only what they want to see. We cannot cease in our efforts to get the message of the strength of brotherhood our to the people.
For far too long in history have the zealots and autocrats threw tantrums to get their way. It is time for reasonable people to stand up, put our foot down, and push the self-centered back to where they came from.
Chapter 1:
I had always loved the days when my grandchildren would visit. We would laugh and play games, and they would ask me questions of what America was like before the Honorable Coalition. I suspect my children carried on the lessons I taught them, but they are intelligent enough not to speak of it too openly. It was on that day, I believe, that justice finally regained its foothold in America.
“Then what happened grandpa?” Ahh, Myeena, my granddaughter. She’s a bright girl, fluent in numerous languages, math, history, and all the things a person should know. She reads books with a vigor I could have only dreamed of. Things were so much different back then.
“Well, after President Moaba was elected the Moral Coalition unleashed itself. There leaders convinced them that Moaba had blocked God’s will and that McWalker, as the Shrubb’s delegate, was the true leader of the States. In reality, they were far too irrational to allow a Democrat in office, especially an urban one.”
“And for good reason, urban people are degenerate and criminal.”
“No, Harold,” Myeena said. “I’ve snuck down into the city. Most of the people down there are just like us. We’re only shown the ones we’re meant to see. Grandpa, what is a deh mocrat?”
“A Democrat?” I forgot, partisanship is gone… “Before 2013 America had more parties than just the Moral Coalition. The Democrats were there biggest, and really there only meaningful opponent. The Democrats actually had a larger party. And more of the country agreed with the core of their message. But, that just goes to show you what happens when people become inactive and complacent.”
“But the Shrubb family has Heaven’s Mandate,” Harold said. “Who would oppose God’s favor?”
“God’s favor is not to murderers and oppressors! Heaven is not a place of starvation and desolation! GOD…”
“I’m sorry Grandpa. Did I say something wrong?”
“No, Harold. I’m afraid you are still too young to understand. The world is not always as it seems, people’s actions speak much louder than what they and other people say about them. When I was your age religion wasn’t apart of public office. Most people were religious, but policy wasn’t dictated by the Bible. God was a matter better left to the self before the Faith-Based America Initiative.”
“But what did you do about the unholy ones?”
“There was a time, Myeena, when it was okay to express opposition to policy. People who thought differently were allowed to express their opinions freely, without fear of persecution. You know, I was one of the Forgiven?”
“Really, From the insurgency?”
“No. We were never the insurgency. The people who now control our government were the ones who started the violence. They were the ones who lined people up and shot them in the streets.
We all knew what would happen if Heichdub Shrubb’s presidential recall was allowed to happen. But they had the country in a vice. We knew the war would escalate on a massive scale. We tried to warn the people of the coming Tyranny but, they trumped us on Moral Values. But, the values these people practice are anything but moral.”
“Why not grandpa?”
“Because they believe in keeping people down. They separate us in order to divert our ability to stand up for ourselves. The so-called Unholy, those of us that didn’t agree with them, were just the same as everyone else. Every side was allowed their argument. And that is exactly what they didn’t like.
The problem they faced was that their arguments just didn’t hold up to scrutiny. It takes a substantial amount of dishonesty to believe greed is good. No, in those days one wasn’t defective for being against the War. It is wrong to kill innocent people children. I want you to remember that.”
“What if they are Soddomists? Soddomists are against the Father and seek to uproot the foundation of our society.” Harold, I feared, would go far in this government.
“The various types of people vilified by the administration as “Unholy” are just tools used by the government to keep your attention off of their lack of leadership. No matter what anyone tells you, it is not Unholy to disagree – we used to call that freedom.”
“Grandpa, my teachers say you are a sinner and that God looks down on you. They say I shouldn’t visit you anymore, that you’re deceiving us about the past.”
“Do you believe that Myeena? I will say this… I would never lie to you. But, if you were to repeat much of what I say, they would most certainly submit you to Community Cleansing. They call me a sinner so that nobody listens to me. But I tell you what I tell you because history must be preserved. At some point, an administration will get cocky. When that happens the people must be united. But until then, it is probably best to take small steps toward a better world.”
“Grandpa, we have to go back to Mom’s now. Are you coming out for dinner?”
“Yes, Harold. I would never miss it. Bye Harold, bye Myeena.”
“Bye Grandpa.”
As they left I could see the hope of the world travelling with them. Most of today’s youth see nothing past their own self-righteousness and the values fed to them by their overlords. After WOLF Media was given control of the Communications Commission, community was tossed out the window for support of the Grand Ol’ Party. Reality died sometime at the end of the last century.
Everybody knew what would happen, the signs were clear. An elitist son of an elitist president was given the office. Then, in a truly Machiavellian way, he uses an unexpected attack to march the country off to war. It was a story often repeated throughout history. We could have told you forty years ago we would be attacked again, the war would escalate, rationing would start, and then they would come for the dissenters. How many times must this happen before people get wise to it?
Nobody cares anymore. They are too caught up in their own existence to think about the state of the world. And why not? Every few years “terrorists” mysteriously attack somewhere, or let off some disease… Why bother? I’m going outside, I can still enjoy that.
I don’t know why I come out here though. You never see a blue sky anymore. It’s either raining, or it looks like it will. Why does nobody care? They know what is happening?
No, people just want to go about their lives. They want to do whatever work will give them just enough not to starve. The people don’t care about their situation anymore? No one has bought a new car in this neighborhood in twenty years. And the few who have bought new, used cars can barely afford the gas to get anywhere. It is not uncommon to see someone drive halfway to work and walk the rest. I remember when a cheeseburger only cost four dollars. Hell, I remember when it was only a dollar, and pennies were actually used occasionally. Now the dollar has become the penny, and the amero is worthless.
Here comes Jimmy. That kid is infatuated with the Coalition. He believes they are the savior of the world, and that everything is exactly as it should be with them in charge.
“Good morning old man! Beautiful day isn’t it?”
“A beautiful day, Jimmy, is when the sun is shining and the clouds are white, puffy, few, and far-between.”
“I disagree, sir. The sun has over fifty thousand carcinogens. And the rain was sent by the Father to wash us of our sins.”
“Yes Jimmy. But the sun gives life to almost everything on this planet. And though it has hazards, it is no more dangerous than anything else.”
“It is only through faith in the Father that things are allowed to survive on this planet.”
“But you will die one day. Is that because you lost your faith?”
“No, but that is why we must use what is available to us while we are here. What the Father has provided our leadership with will be used as it is needed.”
“Would God really want us to destroy his creation? People are sick because of all this pollution, and a lot of them are dying. The land is spoiled, the air is dirty, and the water is almost unfit to drink. If you care about God, shouldn’t you take care of his kingdom?”
“Father Carlson tells us that we are to subdue the Earth and have dominion over it, according to Genesis 1:28.”
“And that same passage also says to replenish it and be fruitful. You must not rely on your pastor to tell you what passages to read. A good ruler takes care of his domain. He doesn’t just use it for his own benefit.”
“You are crazy old man. They’re going to cleanse you one day.”
“No Jimmy. As long as people see me as crazy for expressing my own beliefs and educating myself, they will never cleanse me. If I am seen as deranged and unclean, they will keep me around as an example.”
“But you’re a Forgiven. You were a senior member of the Devil’s Uprising. You have disgraced the lord.”
“Why? Because I don’t believe the elite should be allowed to rape and pillage the Earth and its people? That makes me crazy to you? I don’t believe we should kill innocent people who don’t agree with the leadership and that makes me deranged? It is you and this society that is deranged, young one.”
“But our leaders bring God’s gift to the world. To go against them is to reject the Lord himself.”
“Have you ever read the Bible Jimmy?”
“I go to church every Sunday.”
“If you ever decide to read it… and I mean read it for yourself… you will find that it says to beware the prophets. Those who claim to bring God’s will are not necessarily his servants.”
“Surely if you pronounce HIS GLORY in the streets, and give alms as the Leaders do, God will give you favor.”
“The small alms they give were beaten off the backs of the people, and they have used every dirty trick they could to gain them. People starve because of your leaders. And the voice they could use to proclaim God’s glory is taken from them. God sees through a man’s false concepts about himself. He sees into your soul, your reality, and the contributions you have made to further His Kingdom. God is not affected by your illusions; He grants forgiveness to those who deserve it. Asking is not enough. “
“Then how does he decide who deserves it?”
“If a man slaps another man, apologizes for it, then walks down the road and slaps another, does he deserve forgiveness? If he takes your food, eats enough to fill his gut, puts the leftovers in his pouch for later, and hives you the scraps, does he deserve to be rewarded for his generosity?”
“Uhh…”
“If YOU would forgive this man, you would gain God’s forgiveness. If you were to also give him your coat and a ride home, you would gain God’s favor. Anybody can proclaim God’s Glory, even the Devil. But Satan will never return to Heaven because his actions do not show any true faith.”
“You have a weird outlook, old man. All I know is, our leaders show moral convictions and serve God’s will. That is the truth.”
“If you want to continue believing that, I can’t stop you. You could go far with that attitude Jimmy. The way you mold reality to suit your own benefit and your fervent support of the Leadership may one day get you a good job with the government.” But, in the end he will have nothing to show for it, other than a few smiles and a pat on the back. As I began rolling a smoke I got that feeling…
“You believe me to believe your thoughts on God and yet you smoke?”
“As I said before, how you treat God’s creation is the key to your salvation. You can follow the leadership, believe in God with all of your heart, and go to church every Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday, but it still isn’t enough.”
“Aren’t you a part of His creation? Shouldn’t you take care of yourself?”
“Yes, but it all depends. Besides, that is my choice. Is it better to take care of the world around you, or yourself? As long as you give what you have to further the advancement of this world, you are in the clear. As the Gospels say, it is not what you take in that makes you a sinner; it is what come out of you that judges your fate. A heroin addict who constantly treats people with kindness, generosity, and respect will find himself in heaven long before a clean-cut man who does not.
I smoke the Ja. It helps to refine my world-view. It calms my soul and helps me look at the world objectively. What good am I if I follow what I am told, with no objections, even if I know it is wrong?”
“But the Shrubbs were given Heaven’s Mandate! To object to them is to object to God.”
“Who gave them Heaven’s Mandate?”
“The people. They gave them the mandate in the recall.”
“Don’t you realize no one knows, nor do they care how the votes are counted, and who is doing it?” Talk to people; they don’t like their situation. But, the national media portrays the country as if EVERYBODY is happy. How many of those people do you ever meet, other than yourself? But, the media portrays US as if we’re the minority.”
“How can you say that? Everyone has to sacrifice in support of our troops.”
“What have the elite sacrificed? Where is their contribution?”
“They have to keep their money for investment.”
“This is why I like you Jimmy. You make me have to defend every word I say. It keeps me on my toes...” I took a long drag off my smoke and could see that something had just set in with him. I don’t know what it was but, he appeared from then on to be in deep thought. Good! With his ability to analyze, he just may be able to realize that he doesn’t have to live this way.
“When the insurgency started… Why did you oppose Heaven’s Mandate?”
“It was not God who gave the Shrubbs a mandate, Jimmy. It was the media. WOLF would criticize their opponents until the rest of our news was forced to be supportive of the Moral Coalition. The “insurgency” was nothing more than people who wanted to live in a world of truth and reason. We saw the oppression and elitism behind the message. And we saw their lack of caring for the people dying for their benefits.”
“I’m going to end up just as crazy as you if I keep talking to you old man. Tell me, how do you keep yourself so fit when most people your age are hunched over and losing their memory?”
“I eat well, exercise, and avoid vitamins and medications that I don’t need. Keep yourself in shape, calm your mind, take less medicine, and have balance in your diet and you will maintain your health.”
“But only the Son could heal without medicine.”
“No Jimmy, disease may be the problem. But it cannot survive in a healthy environment with a strong immune system. You only need medicine to assist your body in what it does for you naturally.”
As my spliff burned halfway down I caught that “thinking” look in Jimmy’s eyes. “You know, President Shrubb received the most votes of all time in his reelection. How do you explain that?”
“He also received the most votes against him. And how many of those votes he actually won remains a debate. There were massive accounts of voter fraud across the Nation. They intimidated poor and minority voters. They threw out at least 3% of the vote as inconclusive. Even if the vote was correct, and he did win, it doesn’t matter. His entire first presidency was a campaign of deceit. They used the concept of morality because they know the under-educated members of society will put their morals above all rationing and reasoning. All they have to judge themselves on is if they stood up for their principles.
A lot of America has always been deeply religious. To those who have not learned of, and even those who don’t like reason, rationality, and objectiveness, the Church was their salvation. Most inherently want to be good people, and religion helps them focus that. The problem is, most have neither read the Good Book nor any other religious texts of the world. The message of forgiveness, kindness, generosity, and humbleness has been lost in favor of dogma. The brotherhood of man has been separated by labels and established religions.
So, what they did was take seemingly immoral and important issues, like homosexuality, and wedged them into their campaigns to trump the fact that the nation was slipping into poverty and the war was escalating. And people bought it.”
“So you’re saying abortion isn’t wrong?”
No, I am saying it is our place to love the sinner, and hate the sin. If you disagree with it, don’t do it. As long as it doesn’t harm anyone else, it is not your business. I believe people should raise their own children. And if they can’t do that, they should find someone competent who can. But the whole issue is designed to take your mind off the fact that your country is being destroyed.”
“I see quite a few content people out here. If what you say is true, that wouldn’t be the case.”
“That’s the point Jimmy. They are content. With no standards of comparison, they have no idea what kind of life they could have.
What has this regime brought us? Are the United Mid-Asian Territories any better off than they were 40 years ago? All we did was implement even more oppressive regimes that murder in our name, instead of their own.”
“The Terrorists declared war on civilization on 9/11! How can you support the ruthless barbarians who killed our fellow citizens?”
“Come on now Jimmy. Why would I support murderers? But Al Qeada has been all but forgotten. No, they used…”
“Who is Al Kaida?”
“They were the ruthless barbarians. They were Islamic fundamentalists opposed to America’s dealings in the Middle East. But, terrorism quickly became a general term for anyone opposed to American expansion. When they created the PATRIOT ACT they defined terrorism as any kind of politically motivated crime.”
“Well, of course. The Unholy can’t just run around and disgrace the Father. We can only serve His will by stopping those who do harm to our society and showing those who would do it why they should not. Isn’t that why we have laws in the first place?”
Good point. “But where do you draw the line between God and the Shrubbs. One is your leader, and one is a false idol.”
That one hit him hard.
There is no line to this generation. They have never had to think about it. All they know is that the terrorists want to kill us, anybody could be a terrorist, and only God’s Mandate, and President Cory Shrubb can protect us until His return! When that is all you have what else do you need to know?
“Let me ask you this Jimmy. Is it worth taking a man’s life for murdering innocent people?”
“Yes.”
“Okay. Is it worth killing a man who said we shouldn’t kill the man who killed a man?”
“What?”
“Should you kill someone who has voiced their opposition to killing a murderer?”
“Of course.”
“Why?”
“His mind has deceived him. If he doesn’t believe killers should be killed, he is unclean.”
“Then what about the executioner? Isn’t he now a killer?”
“No, he kills in the name of God.”
“But though shalt not murder is the word of God.”
“But what about murderers?”
“And the man asked Jesus how many times should he forgive his brother, and the Christ replied 40 and 100 times, and 1000 times after that.”
“Then what is your suggestion?”
It depends. If he truly is crazy, and kills for the sake of killing, if there is nothing that can stop him, he should be kept away; left in a personal, secluded environment, in the care of well-trained individuals.”
“And if he’s not crazy. If he just killed someone…”
“You know as well as I do where to draw the line. But we probably differ on where that should be.”
“So then, where do we draw the line?”
“It’s a matter better left for the majority to decide. That is what democracy is supposed to be about. Certain rules are laid out beforehand, and when a nuance arises, the issue is voted upon.”
“I would think the majority agrees with the Shrubbs, that is why they vote for them.”
“Do they? Or do they just think everyone else does? Is it so hard to believe that what you think you know could be wrong? The Education Czar is the former CEO of WOLF Media; the new CEO is the former National Security Advisor, Reese Condor. The Secretary of Energy used to be on the board of three different energy companies.”
“No, there are checks and balances.”
“Who speaks for the people’s rights when the congress and Supreme Court are all in-line with the President?”
“Aw come on, they fight for our rights every day. Why are you so unpatriotic?”
“What rights do they fight for?”
“They fight for our right to security. They keep the evildoers from allowing sin into the world. Conquer sin and all other Rights are automatic.”
“Have they really protected us when we get hit every other year?” And anyway, what about our rights to equality and the pursuit of happiness? Do you really think it is a right to oppress the poor, the colored, and those who stand up for them?”
“They are Unholy.”
“Do you really believe that?”
“It is immoral and wrong. They are trying to uproot the fabric of our society. They’re all criminals and sexual deviants, and that’s against the Father!”
“What if I phrased it like this; they’ve been placed in a situation where it is worse to steal off one man than it is to steal off a thousand. On top of that, access is money, and money is power. They have no money, no access, and no power. They can’t find a way to rise up, so they steal. They have nothing to bide their time, nothing that gives them enjoyment, so they rely on the quick release that sex and drugs give them.”
“But, it is still not right.”
“Be that as it may, destroy the hardship and complacency, and you will begin to destroy the sin. Take care young man. It is going to be a long week.”
As I walked away I wondered which side Jimmy would find himself on in the weeks ahead. A great storm was brewing on the horizon. A plan was about to unfold that had been set in motion many years ago. The people of this land are going to have to make a decision. Either stand by and allow tyranny, or take to the streets and scream, “BE REASONABLE!”
In the coming months we are going to hear a lot about taxes and the economy. The conservative (actually liberal; look it up) viewpoint will be that progressive economic policy is about higher taxes, excess spending, and less freedom. This is the same rhetoric that has been used for years to decieve honest people into the beleif that sefishness is generosity. But, contrary to the desires of the self-serving zealots in our society, when access to resource is distributed to more people, and you grant them control of their own destiny, the overall level of society raises dramatically.
This is what Augustus Ceasar did, what Lui Chi did, and its what our nation was founded upon. This is why we outlawed deeds of nobility. Consolidation of power into a few hands only serves to bind a society to its present state of affairs. It is progress that decides what cultures succeed, and which fail.
Supply-side economics is an engagement in acedemic dishonesty. To give more capital to those who already have more than they can do anything with does absolutely nothing. But, if you are struggling to pay for the basic neccessities, and I give you a substantial amount of money, what are you going to do? (This is provided you are not the slave of some addiction you can't pay for.) You would pay your bills, buy your family food, clothes, and cable tv. You're going to fix that old stove and buy a new washing machine. You're going to take that boat you can now afford and spend money at Put In Bay.
If you want to see real progress in this country you will assure that the tax code is reformed so that citizens can spend less time worrying about their basic necessities, and more time buying new products and services that encourage advancement. And to maintain a strong backbone you employ public works projects to rebuild roads and schools, clean up the streets, plant trees and flowers, tend run-down properties. Finish this up by investing in education and scientific research. This is the formula for building a great society.
Throughout history, the selfish have sought control of various governments, and have wreaked havoc upon the population. Eventually, the people, thinking they have no power, become disenfranchised with their bureaucratic overlords. The noble principles like equality, generosity, and humbleness threaten the distribution of wealth, and those with power have, and forever will, seek to exploit them for themselves. We must never forget that we are America; we are the government; and we have a right to a decent life and control of our own destinies.
As many have gone on oblivious, certain policies enacted in the last 30 years have threatened the progress of this country; outsourcing, trickle-down economics, the PATRIOT ACT, the energy and media industries consolidation, and so forth. These policies do not stimulate economic growth; they work to keep power in the hands of a few. These ultra-wealthy, chicken-hawk conservatives have even convinced otherwise decent, upstanding people to forsake the facts for underhanded rhetoric. These are the plain and simple facts: giving more people access to wealth, health, education, and civil rights stimulates growth and creates a better overall society for everybody. Keeping wealth, health, education and/or rights in the minority impedes growth and makes society overall worse for the majority.
Conservative rhetoric will not put a chicken in every pot or a car in every garage. It will keep the wealthy 10% with pheasants in the pot, and the rest of society with bread and water. The best of times come when power is brought back to the people.
The authoritarian, autocratic, fascist, Stalinist, and other totalitarian regimes were nothing more than an Elite class oppressing the people by telling them their salvation could only come from the hands of the mighty few. They all knew the power of fear. Through knowledge of history, it becomes apparent that controlling the pursuit of knowledge controls the masses. And if people are scared for their lives, the pursuit of knowledge is the last thing on their mind.
By diverting our attention with thoughts of disease, foreign invaders, terrorists, or rebels we are brought to want strong leadership. It doesn’t matter if the threat exists in reality; the point is that we’re scared of it. In a state of constant Terror, it appears that those who don’t agree with the leadership must be trying to aid the enemy. Haven’t you ever wondered how the NAZI party convinced their people to take part in the holocaust?
The people inherently need a reason to unite for the common good. Unfortunately, what that is can be a slippery situation. It becomes easy for false heroes to arise. It is our duty to recognize that someone whose actions appear to be for self-interest is an autocrat, no matter what he says about himself.
So, why then, even when they know what is happening is wrong, do the people not put a stop to it? I think it was explained best by George Orwell; “The masses never revolt of their own accord, and they never revolt merely because they are being oppressed. Indeed, so long as they are not permitted to have standards of comparison, they never even become aware that they are oppressed. The only genuine dangers are the splitting off of a new group of able and under-employed, power hungry people, and the growth of liberalism and skepticism within their own ranks. The problem, that is to say, is educational.”
An example would be the lack of learning in our schools about the rest of the world. But we grow up hearing a lot of “America is the greatest country on earth.” Once you control how people learn about the world, you control their worldview. The people have to believe that the Elite are protecting them for such a hierarchical society to survive.
Many defenders of the “conservative” viewpoint would call me a communist. Total economic equality eliminates the need for progress, and a static culture is a culture that does not survive. I’m talking about the masses standing up for what is right; selflessness and brotherhood, and progress for all. I’m talking about a free and fair economy, where no power controls more than 30% of any market. I’m talking about protection of the rights of workers and consumers, the under-represented.
Our government is failing us. It is taking a course of Tyranny and Oppression. We are left with few choices over our lives. People say there is nothing they can do, or that their vote doesn’t count. There right only in that there is nothing they can do by themselves. The power of unity assures that you can make your vote count. Petitions, protests, and rallies, writing to your local paper; generally getting actively involved. Progress is not possible if the people don’t demand it.
There is a great threat of terrorism facing America. It threatens to dismantle all that we have established and hold sacred. This terror is a threat that can no longer be tolerated.
Webster's Dictionary defines terrorism as "a great fear/a person or thing that causes great fear/a dreadful nuisance, the Terror, the period of the Grench Revolution from the fall of Girondists (June 2, 1793 to the fall of Robespierre (July 27, 1794) dominated by the Committee of Public Safety. Its mass executions were intended to galvanise national resistance in the face of foreign invasions... the policy of using acts inspiring terror as a method of ruling or conducting political opposition." Muslim Extremism, a form of terrorism in its own right, is but a mosquito bite on the back of an elephant compared with the growing threat of real Terrorism.
The Real Terrorism problem is a belief among large amounts of voters in fear and hatred, of both foreign and domestic threats, and that the executive branch should be allowed to enact whatever policies they choose to deal with the percieved threat.
Large amounts of voters in this Nation support policies of backwards-talk and double-think. They voted for, and many would vote for again, an administration that told us it was building a Global Coallition when it was clear that most of the world was against us. That takes a lot of intellectual dishonesty to believe that. The administration told us, and the media repeated, continually, that we were on the "right track" economically. Years later, how is the economy doing?
The real problem is that people, knowing full well that this is exactly what was going to happen, supported the administration anyway. People can claim to represent Fredom and Liberty and then support the arrests of non-violent protestors, and bar people that disagree with them from their speeches and rallies. War is not Peace, Freedom is not slavery, Ignorance is not strength. Nobody can provide you with real safety but yourself. The book 1984 is a good lesson in the dangers of sacrificing freedom for security (so is a history book).
Terrorist administrations only derive their influence from people willing to use terror to fight terror. By doing this, we have allowed global opposition to rise, thus causing Extremism to garner support. And when this undoubtedly causes them to attack us once again, these people would allow another administration to say "see, we were attacked again. If you would have followed us, we would have stopped it." But everyone knows they neither could, nor would have stopped it. Its nearly impossible to stop such small scale plans, you simply cannot put enough security in place.
How can we, a large, proud Nation, allow ourselves to get to the point of th PATRIOT ACT? Many of us are terrified. We have come to accept the policies of terrorism as a way of keeping us safe. But it is only keeping us safe from reality.
My desire is that us supporters of the Obama campaign and the movement to bring the people back into politics shall never use, nor support, and will in fact vehemently oppose any use of terrorist politics. This is why I support Obama because I believe he feels the same way. The politics of seperatism and antidisestablishmentarianism are no way to operate a free country.
"Naturally the common people don't want war. But after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drage people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and for exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country." (And it worked Here)
This is from Herman Goerring, Hitler's Reich Marshall and second in command of th NAZI Party. It worked there too.
This was posted a few years ago in the Daily Kent Stater. I think it still has complete relevance today.
"Corporations to blame for the media’s bias
Dear Editor,
It would blow me off of the face of the Earth if this story was actually printed in any of the corporate media outlets, but they have this entire country hustled. Trying to figure out if the media is left or right is like getting stuck in M.C. Escher’s House of Stairs; once you finally think you have picked the right way, you find yourself right back where you started.
Conservatives blame the media for pushing the liberal, socialist agenda and coddling liberal representatives. It’s all Hollywood Communists and traitors in the form of peaceniks. They go on all day about the so-called global warming and “evolution,” all while doing everything they can to render God non-existent.
And yet liberals blame the media for cow-tailing to Republicans. Just watch any FOX or MSNBC “news” program; the “debates” are two or three hard-nosed Republican ideologues against one weak, easily intimidated little girl who is more likely to agree with them then stand up for herself. (This is what they call the “FOX effect.”) Liberals say the media loves to jump on any pseudo-scandal involving a Democrat (Monicagate, etc.), but they won’t even touch a Republican one (the propaganda for Medicare, Tom DeLay, the weapons of mass destruction fraud, etc.). They say the media shows nothing but sensationalist crap designed to scare us into obedience. When you can’t trust your fellow man, who are you going to team up with to take what’s rightfully yours back from the establishment?
Trust me, left or right, the media’s not on either side. They’re on their own. They push the agenda of those who pay their bills. Corporate sleazebags like Rupert Murdoch who care for nothing more than the size of their pocketbooks and how much power their wealth gives them over others.
I think it’s time we un-mortgaged the deed on the fourth estate! I always thought they were supposed to help us keep a check on government and elitist exploitation, not be an agent to it. We’re looking at the left and calling them traitors; looking at the right and calling them chauvinist idiots; and all the while we’re getting something from behind — a hand in our wallets that isn’t ours!
Adam ZandarskiSophomore history major"
Herein is a recent debate I had with Dmitri Chernekov. If you ever wanted to know how "libertarians" can justify themselves, I believe you will find it here. It begins with Dmitri responding to a contribution of mine to the Daily Kent Stater. It gets a little heated, so it is edited for over-reaction on my side.
"Responding to a column by a member of our College Libertarians, Adam E. Zandarski writes that with the advent of the New Deal “[w]e, the people of America, said to the rest of the world, ‘gone are the days of a fend-for-yourself society. We recognize an obligation we have, as brothers and sisters of the land, that each one of us, rich or poor, will pitch in for the betterment of humanity.’” (Daily Kent Stater, Nov 19, 2007)
Now the problems with this are legion. First, as the title suggests, it confuses slavery to the state, having one’s goods forcibly confiscated and distributed, fear of being looted, with charity, where one person helps another out of love for him. As Rothbard writes, and let me quote him at length,
Heavily influenced by Jakob Boehme was the mystical English communist, Gerrard Winstanley, founder of the Digger sect during the English Civil War. Son of a textile merchant who had failed in the cloth business and then had sunk to the status of agricultural laborer, Winstanley, in early 1649, had a mystical vision of the ideal communist world of the future. Originally, according to this vision, a version of God had created the universe; but the spirit of “selfishness,” the Devil itself, had entered into man and brought about private property and a market economy. The curse of the self, opined Winstanley, was “the beginner of particular interest,” or private property, with men buying and selling and saying “This is mine.” The end of original communism and its breakup into private property meant that universal liberty was gone, and creation brought “under the curse of bondage, sorrow, and tears.” In England, Winstanley absurdly held, property had been communist until the Norman Conquest of 1066, which created the institution of private property. But soon, declared Winstanley, universal “love” would eliminate private property, and would thus restore the earth to “a common property as it was in the beginning… making the earth one storehouse, and every man and woman to live… as members of one household.” This communism and absolute equality of possessions would thus bring to the world the millennium, “a new heaven, and a new earth.”At first, Winstanley believed that little or no coercion would be necessary for establishing and maintaining his communist society. Soon, however, he realized, in the completed draft of his utopia, that all wage labor and all commerce would have to be prohibited on the penalty of death. Winstanley was quite willing to go this far with his program. Everyone was to contribute to, and take from, the common storehouse, and the death penalty was to be levied on all use of money, or on any buying or selling. The “sin” of idleness would of course be combated by forced labor for the benefit of the communist community. This all-encompassing stress on the executioner makes particularly grisly the declaration of Winstanley that “all punishments that are to be inflicted… are only such as to make the offender… to live in the community of the righteous law of love one with another.” Education in “love” was to be insured by free and compulsory schooling conducted by the state, mainly in useful crafts rather than in liberal arts, as well as by “ministers” elected by the public to preach secular sermons upholding the new system. (”Karl Marx: Communist as Religious Eschatologist,” 131ff)

The reason for the confusion is that in both slavery and charity self-interest plays no role. In slavery, because the “incentive” of the slave is fear of punishment; he is not free to choose what he wants to do but must obey the law that his master laid down for him. He is not a man but a tool being used according to the wishes of the slavedriver. Just as a falling body cannot disobey the law of gravity, neither can a slave disobey the command of his owner ordering him to do this or that or the other.
But in charity, because all of your desires are satisfied, and you are filled with the fire of creative love. This error, the idea that slave labor is equivalent to works of mercy, has brought untold misery into the world and must be combated at every opportunity.
Thus, even if we have an “obligation to pitch in,” it is a voluntarily incurred one, to be discharged at the time and in the manner of one’s own choosing.
Second, as Mises writes,
But the recognition of this duty [to help the poor and the disabled] does not answer the question concerning what methods should be resorted to for its performance. It does not enjoin the choice of methods which would endanger society and curtail the productivity of human effort. Neither the able-bodied nor the incapacitated would derive any benefit from a drop in the quantity of goods available. (Human Action, 839)
In other words, welfare is not a system of production. And entrepreneurs are pitching in for the betterment of humanity; it is through their activity that wealth is generated and consumers are served.
Third, there were plenty of “people of America” who disagreed with the policies passed under the New Deal. Why not, for example, exempt them from paying the taxes that financed those policies?
Fourth, why limit the spending to the territory of the United States? Don’t the non-residents have a claim on the wealth of Americans? If not, why not? Must not we put most of China, say, on welfare?
Fifth, the New Deal was implemented 70 years ago. That’s also how long socialism lasted in the USSR. Isn’t it time for another rEVOLution?

(I DELETED ONE OF THE SEVEN RESPONSES BELOW. IT WAS MINE, AND IT WAS IRRELEVANT.)
First, “Capitalism itself, though a great advancement for the improvement of society, is not sufficient to provide for the enhancement of the common man. A completely free market, which allows corporations to run wild, establish monopolies, and set its own prices has only one difference than the feudal societies of old; private property. Capitalism only works if the people (i.e. the government) step in to protect and provide a free and fair market. It is in the best interests of our nation to keep competition alive. And the monopolies quickly being established today provide for no competition.” Your argument that I believe in Russian communism, or communism of any kind, is absurd. That’s just another way of justifying your heartless beliefs.Second, as you should know, the authors of the letters to the editors do not write the titles. I didn’t even title my paper, they did it for me. (On a side note, a slave CAN disobey his master if he chooses to. He may be punished but, as a Daoist would say, “we can only be ruled by those we choose to rule us.”)Third, we are all brothers and sisters here, and we love one another. Would you say that you don’t love your American bretheren? Then why would you disagree to helping out your less fortunate family members? Do you not love them? Probably not. You probably see the poor as lazy good for nothings who could get rich if they just stopped doing drugs. I hope I’m wrong in that assumption, but I fear that I am not.Fourth, never once did I claim to be against entrepenuers or market capitalism. I’m an entrepenuer myself; AZCC Inspections. What seperates us is that I’m not so blinded by the pursuit of profits that I forget what the real priorities in life are; peace, love, and charity.Fifth, according to your argument, I should stop paying taxes because a small portion of it goes to pork spending and far too large amounts of corporate welfare to corporations that don’t need it (we should help corporations just like citizens but, if you think the amounts we give out should go to the companies they go to, you’re insane and highly dellusional).Sixth, yes, we should help the poor of China. But not before we help the poor of America. I’m sorry for the people of Brazil but, they’re not United States Citizens. This is about priorities. If you want to talk about giving the UN actual governmental power and creating one world-wide tax base that’s a different argument. But, I know you probably think the World Bank should rule the world.Seventh, (I DISAGREE WITH) RUSSIAN COMMUNISTS! They helped their citizens about as much as you would if you ruled. (I WILL FIGHT) any kind of totalitarian state. And (THINK ABOUT) any kind of non-state, that’s what we call Anarchism. And that is virtually impossible to obtain. I believe in government; I believe it works if the people in charge have the best interests of the people at heart. I know it makes you upset that self-centered, heartless twits like you get elected and (MESS) everything up but, that’s life. Whether you like it or not, some people do use power for good.Eighth, anybody can list things and quote people, and act like they’re intelligent. But, you sir, are dellusional. I would like to leave you with the same quote I left your friend Mr. Hamilton with, “I encourage you (Libertarians) to really look inside yourself, and see if it is America you support. Or is it Capitalism to which you hold allegiance? They are not the same thing.”
The more you allow corporations to “run wild,” the less chance there is for them to form monopolies. Monopolies are extremely rare on an unhampered free market. Almost all real-world monopolies arise due to a government-granted privilege, such as to the Post Office.
> Third, we are all brothers and sisters here, and we love one another. Would you say that you don’t love your American bretheren? Then why would you disagree to helping out your less fortunate family members? Do you not love them?
Voluntarily, sure. After being coerced to help, no. You promote and glorify legalized theft and violence under the guise of holy charity. This is demonic, and you are being a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
> Sixth, yes, we should help the poor of China. But not before we help the poor of America. I’m sorry for the people of Brazil but, they’re not United States Citizens. This is about priorities.
Wow, so you are consistent! According to your logic, we should put a billion of Chinese on welfare. What’s so special about being a US citizen, aside from an accident of birth? How does being born here qualify you for government loot, while being born miserably poor in China does not? So much for your “peace, love, and charity.” Of course, I am against forced “welfare” for both foreigners and residents of the US.
> I believe in government; I believe it works if the people in charge have the best interests of the people at heart.
That’s just not true. Government planning and taxing and regulating would not work even if the bureaucrats were angels. Which, of course, they are not. In other words, government fails at practically everything it does. What does work is freedom.
So wait, we shouldn’t pay taxes for national defense because that’s coercion? I mean, we can defend ourselves from foreign governments on our own. It’s called a public good. It’s something no private citizen can do on their own. I don’t know why you see government as some far-off ruling body but, government is YOU. That’s what America is all about, SELF RULE. We the people are the government.Umm, I have a package arriving today from UPS so, maybe the post office once had a monopoly but… Now, the government does allow monopolies on energy, phone, and television. And that’s stupid. But, governments make mistakes. I’m sorry that people like you trick people like you into voting for them but, that’s life. You have to accept the good with the bad. Plain and simply, No entity should control more than 40% of the market on non-public goods.Which brings me to two points. First, Unbridled Libertarianism allows corporations to monoplize markets to the point of allowing them to control public goods; thereby they become the state. That’s Fascism. Are you a fascist?Second, like defense, private entitiies could never defeat poverty. Only WE the people, all of us together, could ever hope to do that. We need your cooperation. Stop letting your greed cloud your judgement. You are the government. Have some responsibility. Govenrment exists, and it always will. And it is people that control it. Either we can have a collective of us, together, controlling it. Or we can put it into the hands of some small collective of individuals, either nobles or board members, or party members, or some cabal of “wise men” who rule our lives for us. That’s what happens when the people don’t control the state through SELF RULE.Seriously can I ask you a question? How did you twist your mind around writing that paragraph about Chinese welfare? First, there are almost 2 billlllion people in the state of China. Second, as I’m sure you didn’t know that, you were probably saying that I think we should put all of China on welfare, which is not how the welfare system works. Second, as I said in my response, accidental birth (or a long and vigorous naturalization process) is the only thing special about being an American. And I’m sorry for that. In my response I said, we could create a world tax-base to combat that but, I’m sure that scares the bejeezes out of you.I want you to wrap your mind around this concept for me. YOU ARE THE GOVERNMENT. I AM THE GOVERNMENT. MR. HAMILTON IS THE GOVERNMENT (Ted and Alexander). YOUR NEIGHBOR IS THE GOVERNMENT. WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT. AND THAT INCLUDES YOU. I don’t know how many times I can reiterate that for you; YOU ARE THE GOVERNMENT. And just like you, me, and everyone else, mistakes are made. It sucks but, we have to work to stop that. And it will only stop when people start looking at the world responsibly.
Adam, see Murray Rothbard’s “The Anatomy of the State” for a contrary opinion, as well as his The Ethics of Liberty.
look, I know you have no further argument so you’ve resorted to redirecting me to the (works) you’ve read in the hopes that it will strike me like it struck you. what you don’t understand is, i’ve already read that, Anatomy anyway. But, unlike you, i use reading to help me form my own opinion, instead of just spitting out passages someone else wrote. you fancy yourself a defender of capitalism, go read An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. You’re probly going to find something you didn’t expect, and you just may not like it. See, but you’ll probably only see the lines justifying your greed-clouded mind. i’m not arguing politics with you brother, i’m arguing with your entire world-view. your mind is clouded by greed friend, you think maybe one day you would have a 500 million dollar bank account, and you don’t want no damn government stealing your hard-earned money and giving it to some lazy free-loaders down in the ghetto. and you know what, you did work hard for that money. so did your employees, your family, the guy at the store where you get your cofee, the guy you pass on the street… you didn’t do it on your own.Look, charities are a waste of time. most are innefecient, and they could never reach the size needed. you could go out to do charitable work yourself, which is great but even that’s not enough. what we need is a system where all of us, together, can contribute and develop methods to fight it. o wait, we have that. It’s called a self-ruled government, established among men, to create a more perfect union.
Trilllion dollar deficits, the drug war, the PATRIOT ACT, the loss of manufacturing to unorganized, cheap, foreign labor, these are all right-wing constructions. The left may have some problems with organization but, is fighting poverty really the biggest problem we face?
Over the past 30 years our legislature has lost its connection to us. On all sides of the political arena there is fear and discontent for our government. We have no personal connection, no say in the matter, and no idea what is really going on. This, sounding an awful lot like governments of old, does not bode well for our representative democracy. If we ever want to turn this around, it is up to us, the people, to do it.
Contrary to the extremist news media's coverage of us, the vast majority of Americans are decent, generous people. If we want to continue America's course in a positive direction, we have to figure out how to get these people involved. We, as supporters of this movement, need to get out and show people that the world isn't as bad a place as they are led to believe. We need to show them that to live in fear is only to compound the problem. We, as a country, need someone who will shatter the dome of secrecy surrounding our government, and encourage our citizens to see just who there leaders are representing.
Our defecit has gone out of control. And the so called leaders who claim to want to cut spending, only want to cut it for social programs. They want to continue giving welfare to corporate america, but real americans are just lazy to them. They continue spending money on intelligence and warfare, but abhor the idea of sanity and diplomacy. They cut taxes as a courtesy to us, knowing full well they don't have the resources to do so, which just makes everything else more expensive (have you tried buying license plates recently?). It's time we had a leader who will bring about sound economic policy that is dedicated to peace, prosperity, and the future of human advancement.
But, as we have seen in the past, we can't rely on our leaders to represent us. As much as I have supported Obama, it is up to us, the people, to assure our rights are being protected. When the election season is over we cannot afford to go back to sitting on the couch. We have to become actively involved. And our involvement shouldn't just be standing around a square, complaining. If we don't like something, we have to interrupt it. If we like it, we have to support it. We have sat on the sidelines for thirty years, and for thirty years the right to prosperity has gradually disappeared.
If we dedicate this country to bringing wealth and knowledge to the great mass of people, and to breaking up consolidated power structures, I can assure you this nation will usher in an era of hope unseen in this world.
