I am very happy that this video was made, but there is still a lot of work to do. And while I am compiling a packet for my republican family, I will include this video but I will wait to send it to them right away... I feel that I have to tread lightly with them. Its like how Obama is with Hillary, not too much because he doesn't want to piss them off and not have their support in the fall... So I don't want to OD them on all of my Obama knowledge until I have it al together and I can hit them with it all at once instead of a daily email... that's just me.
Here is my response to the video and an update from my family:
Yes the problem is that the MSM is not covering these issues, but the problem also lies in that many Americans simply pick their candidate and then go about their business..... and don't pay attention and only hear sound bites. For example my father thinks the remarks W made in Israel were not about Obama- and that it was a stretch to conclude that.... sigh....(barfgh)And then its only us the die-hard folk who pay attention to this world everyday, we are up on all the latest breaking news. So when another political conversation took place between myself and my parents this weekend and I mentioned more of these flip flopping moments, they were surprised and didn't really believe me.And yah know what really got my mom's attention!? When I told her about the time McCain called his wife a trollop and a "c u next tuesday" in front of the press. She was appalled, still a little in doubt that my source was some how making it up, but she remained appalled and I feel that the seed has been planted.

As we approach the next primaries tomorrow, we need to rise above and remain un distracted! This is not just with specific Obama distractions of what his former pastor said, etc in our fight against Hillary for the Democratic Nomination, but the bigger picture with the distractions that keep us from seeing the truth about our current US government.
Although I try to remain postive and not dwell too much on the negative, because I don't want other's actions to weigh me down and distract me from doing good for this campaign and for my country, I am outraged. I am stunned, disgusted and nauseous!
I try not to buy into conspiracy theories either, but there is just too much evidence out there, not to believe that we have been LIED TO!
so here's my own theory-
the sh%# is hitting the fan in Iraq, and news flash it has been since the very beginning. As Obama said- this is a war that never should have been waged. We were dupped into this! Just as we were dupped into voting for Bush, hey I admit it, I voted for him- but only the first time, fool me once shame on you full me twice, shame on me! i'll admit I was young, it was my first GE and Colin Powell had just spoken at my college and I thought- this guy is great! I think Bush is a real dip, but if he surrounds himself with people like Powell, there must be something working up there. I was too naive to know much about Rumsfeld and Chenney!
anyway, THIS IS WHY THEY HATE US!! This is why other countries dislike the USA- we are too self absorbed! I am truly disgusted to be an American, honestly I am saddened. The disgusting part is that the MSM is pushing us to focus on the drama of this election and not on real news!
Remember a month or so back when it was being reported that the coverage on the Iraq war took a real dive in the news? Well then- in response it made a quick little reappearance, only to die once again!
And now the Pentagon propaganda ties that have come up last week on the NY times!?!? Were overshadowed and pushed back into the recesses and instead we focused on Rev Wright's new gaffes! Its disgusting! I am smarter than this!!! I want to be informed!! Cut the crap with Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Oj Simpson, Michael Jackson, Rev Wright! This is what Obama was talking about in his speech "A more Perfect Union!" He was asking us to not be distracted by these sensational gossip moments! We have bigger fish to fry!
So this is what I am proposing!
Like the program "Obama Works" we need to start another like minded movement, that not only demonstrates how we are the change in our communities, but in holding our Government accountable!! And especially Our Media accountable! Its not just Fox news! They take the blunt of it and deservedly so, but my family, who happen to be Republicans and do not watch Fox, have been seriously fooled so far about this war and about McCain!!
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Countdown, but its all gossip, he said she said, true "Bushed" is a good segment, but where is our world news? Must we always be so focused on ourselves? On this election?!? GOOD gawd! Let's be less self centered and focus on what's going on in the world!!! Both the good and the bad!
for example!

Nigeria: Militants May Suspend Attacks After Obama's Plea
"The MEND command is seriously considering a temporary ceasefire appeal by Senator Barack Obama. Obama is someone we respect and hold in high esteem. The period of halting attacks, we hope, when considered, will afford the Nigerian government the opportunity to address the issues with Henry Okah, including improving his living conditions and having access to a bible which he has requested for but was denied," they said.
So McCain and Hillary, don't give me this crap that Obama is unelectable, that he is green, and too young to have an impact. I truly believe more than ever that he will help our country and he's right, he can't do this on his own, he needs our help! In his speech last night at the JJ dinner, he talked about how Change is a lot of work, it wont be accomplished on day one! Honesty. Thank you Obama for not talking down to me, for not lying to me! For stating something that I am smart enough to realize on my own!
We need to speak up and stop being focused on the gossip of this election! Don't let it distracted you from the US soldiers who are being killed in Iraq! Check out this story about Tillman and how his death was used for Propaganda. Don't let it distract you from the total mess we have made of the Middle east! Don't let it distract you from the thousands of Iraqis we have killed, or helped kill by association!

Its all a facade! The pulling down of the Saddam statue was staged! They flew in the sept 11th flag from the pentagon to hang it on the statue as if they were rein-acting or creating an historic moment!
Enough is enough! Let's stop being such a selfish and self obsessed country! Let's turn of the "reality" tv programs, go for a walk outside, plant a bleeping tree, not consume so much waste and clothing!! Let's redefine our economy, live with less and in turn live MORE!
this is my rant for the day.
I know it is important to be involved as we all are, its important to call and take our country back and not let the media or lobbyists screw up this election. But at the end of the day, when this is all said and done and we have a new president, President Barack Obama in the White House, we have to continue to stay tuned in, not sink back into Apathy and forget about what we have been working for!! We helped get Obama elected and he will continue to hold us accountable as we hold him accountable.
Let's win Big Tomorrow!!!

What the Primary Taught Us
by Tim Whitaker
Hillary lived in Scranton as a little girl … as a little girl … as a little girl … as a little girl.
When describing Philadelphia politics, the out-of-town media will always mention the time Santa Claus was hit by a snowball at an Eagles game.
The same out-of-town media will also note with derision that “street money” is one of Philadelphia’s oldest political traditions.
It’s clear now, thanks to Colbert, that the Ben Franklin creep has become our unofficial mascot.
Ed Rendell’s humongous appetite is surpassed only by the humongous amounts of TV airtime he gets.
A political certainty: Given the chance, Chris Matthews will always kiss up to “Eddie” Rendell on Hardball.
The sound quality of bullhorns attached to car roofs to urge people to vote hasn’t improved since 1957.
We get it: It’s the western suburbs, stupid.
“South Philadelphia’s Ninth Street Italian Market isn’t as Italian as it used to be,” began one Pennsylvania primary wire story as though it were 1997.
Fact of political life: Mark Segal will always find a way to seek publicity for himself.
Mayor Nutter gets nerdier by the hour.
Every Pennsylvania primary season Terry Madonna becomes a household name. The rest of the year, he’s “Terry who?”
All it took was watching Larry King interview Stephen Colbert to know the CNN host is now officially one can short of a six-pack.
Every single Pennsylvanian can now cite the Carville-ism: “Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between.”
It would appear both Democrats running for president have made the same unspoken assessment: Joey Vento has cooties.
Whistle-stop tours are cool. They look especially pretty in the countryside.
Richard Mellon Scaife, multimillionaire owner of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, once accused the Clintons of murder. Last week he endorsed Hillary. Lesson: Old rich people are scarier than polygamists.
Pigs fly! Best we can tell, Brian Tierney didn’t get his picture taken with either of the candidates.
FYI: The following five random facts about Pennsylvania were revealed in a recent AP story about the election: 1) There are 7.7 million acres of farmland between Philly and Pittsburgh; 2) the state’s steel, coal and railroad industries have atrophied, contributing to the slowest population growth of any major state; 3) 15 percent of the state’s population is over 65 (only Florida and West Virginia have a higher percentage of seniors); 4) 82 percent of the state’s population is white, compared to 66 percent of the nation; 5) and 46 percent of the state’s voters are gun owners.
OMG, Chelsea can talk! And she likes gay bars!
People in Philly don’t give a shit if you’re good at bowling. People in Shamokin do.
Bob Brady’s got the biggest cranium in the Western world.
Thanks to ABC, the Constitution Center will now always be the joint where that shameful debate took place.
It’s official. There are no Republicans left residing in Philadelphia. None.
Allyson Schwartz. Hillary Clinton. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. Those names must be said together. As if it’s an antediluvian chant.
Bob Casey is high. Definitely. No one totally straight-talks like that.
If Obama wolfed down two cheesesteaks in succession, they’d have to rush him to Hahnemann.
This from Monday’s NYT: “Philadelphia is a living museum of American history, where the political machine, though it wheezes and gasps, still functions much as it did 100 years ago.” Oy.
The most disturbing reportage of the primary—a Hillary appearance in West Philadelphia—was posted on a CBS website: “The dancers spun around the floor as Clinton bobbed up and down in place. The famous song by James Brown played in the background, ‘we’re gonna have a funky good time, we’re gonna take you hiiiiiigher’ at which point Clinton waved her hands in the air. Clinton, who has not danced publicly throughout this campaign, and often makes fun of her singing abilities, briefly let loose. She kicked her legs to the beat of the music and moved her shoulders from side to side.”
Will Bunch’s scathing open letter to Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos on hisDaily News blog following the debate elicited 207 comments.
When an enlightened orator addresses 35,000 Philadelphians on a balmy spring evening, it feels good to be alive.
Well Its a lot more low key here today, I think the majority of people are walking around in shock, I mean we knew it would be hard, but the city was so Fired up it was easy to think the rest of the state would agree with us. But as I was walking to class this morning in Center city I came to an intersection where a woman was handing out free metro newspapers, will Hillary's face on the front, and as I reached up to take one she saw my Obama pin, and tapped it with her free hand and said- "Yup, well we still got this!!" that was a nice little moment, I nodded and told her we sure did.
Yeah that's right I am still wearing my PIN! Woot woot, represent!
Honestly how dumb do Nutter and Rendell feel when their city does not agree with their endorsement!?!? Philly went for Obama, by one account by 64% and I'm sure that number will increase as the rest of the numbers come in! We Love you OBAMA! Come back anytime!
I'm getting for this weekend!
Woot woot!
My friend is traveling my train down from Boston to canvas with me on Saturday! Unfortunately we are unable to go to the Rally here In philly on Friday night- tonight... ; (
Luckily I have already seen Barack in Delaware, so I'm turning my disappointment into a positive and concluding that someone else will be able to go in place!
I made copies of the flyers and posted them and distributed them at my grad school, so hopefully some inquiring minds will go from there!
I'll report back after sat on my canvassing experience. Its a little strange to think back on when I canvassed in Feb in DE. I had to wear a winter coat, gloves and a hat! And now its almost 80 degrees here today, reminds me of what Barack says about campaigning for 15 months- babies have been born and are now walking and talking!!
Crazy business!!
I read a suggestion this morning on the blog to make a video of Hillary and McCain's out-of-touchness, in response to the hooha they are creating about the bitter comments....
It's not my dream version of it, I would love to have actual clips of the Hillary "misspeaking", etc but its a visual photo message that is under 4 mins, so that;s good!
Maybe when I graduate, I'll have more time to make proper videos ; )
here's the link!

We should reach our original goal of $150,001 and then move on to Indiana, etc.
The Colbert challenge on Donors choose.org has raised our goal yet again- from $150,001 to $200,001.
We are currently at $148,255, which is FANTASTIC!! But I think its time we moved on to another state that could use our support. So I wrote a letter and here it is:

Hi all!
So I missed the boat in getting two tickets to see Colbert... sigh...
I just turned in my Grad school thesis on Monday, I have three weeks until I graduate, and I am planing a wedding all at the same time, while I have an OBAMA blog IV hooked into my arm for the campaign! I'm canvassing for Barack in Philly the weekend before the primary (I rescheduled my bridal shower so I could canvas! I canvassed in Delaware two days leading up to Feb 5th! I'm housing friends who I recruited to come down and canvas from NYC and Boston!)
Point is- I'm a worthy volunteer who would love to see Colbert when he comes to Philly.
I WILL phone bank over 250 calls for tickets!!
Can you help me out?? if you are friends with Colbert or with one of his peeps, could you see if I could get two tickets! Heck I'll take just one, my finace will get over it!
Or let me know where the show will be recorded so I can camp outside to try and get in?
thanks!!!

"Painting the city "Barack!"
http://my.barackobama.com/page/group/PaintingtheCITYBarack
Yup, I just read about it on Huffington post!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/08/obama-website-hopes-to-ea_n_95574.html
ON Friday Night I was walking across the city of Philadelphia with a friend on our way to "First Friday" which is our gallery opening night for seeing art in the city ever month...
I had my HUGE Obama pin on my coat, wearing it LOUD and PROUD... and as I walking this white man, in a preppy/business outfit muttered under his breath as he passed me "Racist!"
Of course I didn't respond, because this was ridiculous!! I "turned the other cheek" ; ) ! I assume that he was referring to the Rev wright..
I have volunteered for this camp in DE, and I have received far worse response to my OBAMA pledge in Delaware- outside a polling location than what I heard yesterday. I just think its silly that people who are let's face it un informed about the issues, about the events- choose to use me, a young adult with a pin- as a speaking board to the campaign.... And I know that's what I am up against when i wear the pin, I'm representing my support of this great Candidate. I get it. And by even writing this log I am using his words to speak to the camp- the community. But I do so for awareness and for healing.
Ultimately this man's response simply reminded me of my twin Brother's arrogant and mis informed reuplican view point about OBAMA. Isn't it amazing that with all the crap with this war- we have seen how this adminstration is LYING to us and how the MSM feeds on this and just perpetuates these lies out of laziness and for a sensationalism that will produce ratings and something to talk about around the water cooler- generating gossip that is empty and false. It also made me realize- these people who are misinformed- are the ones who still think we should stay in Iraq, who don't see ALL of the bad things about the war, and instead only a few... So this is what we are up against essentially... But there are more of us who are informed than those who are not (HOPE)!
This comment this man made also sparked a conversation btwn my friend and I about OBAMA, about Rev Wright, America, 9-11, our standing in the world... and in the end it was a great conversation. By then we were in old city where the galleries were open and I saw more OBAMA love down there, with pins, signs and volunteers talking with the people on the street.
so for perspective- it was just one man, but he does represent people out there- people in my own family. But I could no more disown or dislike that man than I could my own brother! ; )
In closing- and in remembrance of MLK- what we need to do is- LOVE, love these people who are misinformed and help them understand in every small way- how OBAMA is the change our country needs.
I saw a post this morning from one of my Obama friends here on the blog. She is traveling from IL to Indiana to help register voters, she's excited but a little nervous, as most of us were/ are at the beginning.
So I wrote her a message in response- and I decided to make a little blog to share my story with others through this blog.
Here it is:
Good luck and have fun!!
So I was walking back from Lunch to school and in center city and we saw all of these HUGE buses!! And they were OBAMA's and then I saw that he was in Philly today. Dang it, I wish I had been at the market. But I was wearing my pin with pride!! That counts for something... well at least I'm trying to make myself feel better.
lol
AND there are guys around the city selling t shirts and buttons, some from stands other from duffle bags. the city is buzzing!
Just wondering how long it takes to have a group approved?
I created one the other day called "Paint your town "Barack"!" A group to help volunteers organize to paint murals in their town.
pretty, cool I KNOW!
the suspense is killing me, I want to get networking with my new group. So when will I know?
On this beautiful Sunday I went for a little walk around the city and I saw A LOT of Obama love!!
I wear my Pin daily and I saw at least 8 other people with pins on, and that was just on two blocks!!
I also saw a rad poster of Obama on Walnut st near the Diesel store and of course the posters on the street posts on Sansom where the office is.
Yup you can feel it in Philly!!
We do have work to do though, so let's all stay focused, call, and canvass. And donate to keep those commercials coming!
I'm also working on creating a group called "paint your town "Barack!"" Just waiting on approval, then once its up I hope to be painting a mural in philly and I hope the idea spreads to other towns and cities in the upcoming primaries!!!
contact me if you are interested and I'll send the group link your way once its approved!
