Monday July 6, Yellow Springs Village Council unanimously adopted a Resolution supporting President Obama's Health Reform initiative. The Manager was directed to communicate this resolution widely. That will be done within the next week or so.
Citizens publically calling for reform through their government might help demonstrate grassroots support. At least I hope so.
The Resoluton will be posted on the Village's website at YSO.com in the near future.
Thanks all.
My event was a formal request of my local village government to adopt a draft Resolution to voice collective support for the reform principles outlined on Whitehouse.gov. I think there will also be an official Public Hearing in which it will be more thoroughly discussed by citizens. I believe the Resolution will pass. BTW, my proposal was broadcast several times on our local community access tv station, so it was widely seen in Yellow Springs. It will be discussed (and broadcast) at the next Council meeting (June 16) and I'm going to try to get the large area newspaper to cover the Hearing. Also, feedback was STRONGLY positive, so I recommend that others try it. I used the format used for official resolutions, which included a compelling (I was told) rationale linking the benefits the President's reform initiative to our local citizens's needs.
If other Yellow Springs Villagers will lobby Council or write letters to the paper in the next two weeks, it will add more voices to the effort and hence more evidence of grassroots support.
My small town is literally peppered with Obama signs.
Prior to the Ohio primary I organized putting yard signs up for the local GOTV effort. Afterward, I dutifully collected the 35 or so signs I'd placed by request of homeowners. Ever since, I've received calls from folks who heard I might have signs asking please could they have one!
Even though they know the signs refer specifically to voting on March 5, people seem enthusiastic for passers-by and neighbors to know they support Obama.

OBAMA GET OUT THE VOTE EFFORT IN GREENE COUNTY LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
Obama supporters will be canvassing neighborhoods in Yellow Springs and Fairborn on Saturday March 1, as part of a statewide effort to knock on a million doors before the March 4 primary. If you are interested in helping, come to the Epic Bookshop, 118 Dayton St., in downtown Yellow Springs, between 9 am and noon on Saturday to pickup literature and route assignments. The campaign is also looking for people to house out of state volunteers, make phone calls, and display yard signs.
