Below is the text of my letter to my Senators, Congress-people and the Obama and McCain Campaigns. As Biden has said, "America needs to get up." We are being robbed while we're in the house ASLEEP on a hangover of debt-driven binge-spending.

I am absolutely OUTRAGED that we’ve gotten to this point. You are about to let Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke become financial dictators of America. I’m not some uninformed, ignorant voter. I understand economics. I know what we face. I know that we have been asleep at the wheel for years.
I agree, now is not the time to point fingers. However, now is also not the time to rollover and facilitate the demise of this nation.
Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke are the same two that came to Congress and said the subprime problems were “contained.” The same two who felt a stimulus wasn’t necessary and that inflation was the real worry. These are the two that let this get this bad. In the case of Paulson, he was running Goldman Sachs (as chairman) which has profited from their KNOWLEDGE that this was going to implode. In the case of Bernanke – read his books/articles – he plans to bring on hyperinflation to get us out of this as he already said he would.
They are asking that you do the following:
I urge you to read how Hitler came to power or simply what happens to countries in hyperinflation.
Congress needs to learn ECONOMICS. Congress needs to stop relying on these “experts” who don’t have the American people as their focus. Yes, the deleveraging would cause significant pain. Yes, it needs to happen in an orderly fashion. However, hyperinflation is far worse and if we’re not EXTREMELY CAREFUL, that’s where we’ll be. As I believe you now know, we don’t control our financial destiny. As with any DEBTOR, it is in the control of our CREDITORS. Step very carefully here. We will NOT avoid a recession. Stop lying with your good intentions to the American people. We will experience significant pain REGARDLESS of this bailout. Don’t patronize like Bush and tell us to go shopping. Please level with America and NEVER, EVER let this level of deregulation and dereliction of DUTY ever happen again.
Sincerely,
Troy Christmas (One mad as hell taxpayer)
As of late, I've been encouraged that Americans are finally starting to wake up from a long slumber - and they're not happy with what they see.
It is truly sad that it has had to come to this for America to begin to wake up. When the lights finally come on, it will likely be worse than most Americans had ever thought. Yet, with all that has gone wrong - 40% of Americans want to vote for the same party that either caused the mess or at least did little to stop it. I wish I could say this was shocking to me, but it isn't.
I frankly don't hold most politicians in high esteem. The misleading statements, the false promises and personal attacks are disrespectful of America. Unfortunately for us - THEY WORK. I hope this time is different which is why I encourage FactCheck.org and videos like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYNfJ9SabFU You must view this.
In preparation to commit to raising even more funds for Barack, I revisited this page to see what I'd already written. My only other post here (I have many on CNN.com) was written during the primary and was an analysis of why I favored Barack over Hillary. As I said then, I wasn't voting against Hillary and that she would make a fine president. I believed then as I do now, that Barack Obama presents an opportunity for America that we should not pass up.
He is literally, the right person, at the right time, in the right place. His intelligence, his openness, his inspiration, his purpose, his balance, his insight, his discipline, his inclusiveness and yes, his background, all suit him for the humungous task at hand.
My expectations for Barack are huge, but they are not that he will fix healthcare, bring world peace, fix our economy, our environment and our educational system. In fact, I expect, hope and pray for something much more profound. I expect for him to lead all of us, the American people to tackle these challenges OURSELVES. For me, that is the definition of leadership and that is what this moment needs.
This opportunity - for me - is one of collective action, of shared purpose. An opportunity to transcend the things that divide us and concentrate on what we share. We instinctively do this in wartime, but in our relative peace, it is all too easy to divide and distract us from being all we could be. No candidate since John Kennedy has presented that opportunity. No disrespect to John McCain, Hillary Clinton or any number of patriots with records of service to the country.
What we have here is something different. I am confident that the majority see it or more importantly feel it. They don't want to be disappointed and may be afraid to put their hopes in such a man. They may wonder if the younger generation is naive or being fooled either by their faith in this man or his ability to do what he so believes. I say, put your hopes in yourself, but accept the leadership that such a man can provide. Let us use this man for the betterment of all men and women and we will all be better for our decision to do so.
I don't thnk Barack, his campaign or his policies are perfect. Neither does he, by the way. I know he doesn't have as many years passing legislation as his compeition. I know he can sound professorial and may not shop at Wal-Mart. I don't need those things from him. I need him to call all Americans to a common purpose. I need him to remind us that government WILL NOT WORK without our involved participation. I need him to call "horse puckey" when he sees it and bring some of Washington's dark places to light. I need him to gather folks with different perspectives in a room to solve problems, not debate ideologies.
I am confident this man will do that because he believes in it. I believe in it. I believe in the American people and that why I support Barack Obama for LEADER of the UNITED States of America.
We must seize this opporutnity because we never know when another JFK or Barack Obama will emerge.
I put the following post on Hillary's blog pages in response to Obama-bashers. It's my reasoning for supporting Barack and why I think he is an opportunity not to be missed.
__________________________________________________________________________________
First, I don't need to bash Hillary or her supporters in order to support Obama. I don't begrudge anyone who supports Her. If she's the nominee, I'll vote for her.As for me, I'm looking for who shares my vision for America and who is most likely to bring that vision to pass. Here's how my analysis goes on that front.1. Change. Barack has expressed a clear desire to change the way in which politics is conducted in America. He is the only one with credibility and history on this issue. This is important to me and should be to others IMHO. Specifically, bringing in the public, kicking out lobbyists and focusing on the problem and not divisive affiliations. He has had this same focus in his run in Illinois and expressed this same desire at the 2004 Democratic convention. He has run his campaign that way and is already reaching across the aisle and unlike Hillary, he is FIGHTING FOR EVERY SINGLE VOTE IN EVERY STATE - He is consistent.2. Experience. Truthfully, he and Hillary are both inexperienced. He just admits it and doesn't stake his campaign on it (a mistake for Hillary). Hillary's service as first lady and 1.5 terms in the Senate will get SLAUGHTERED by John McCain and any other Republican. Republicans have always sought the "conservative approach" and you'll see ALL their candidates have/had far more experience. Further, you'll see Democrats have selected the two candidates with the LEAST experience as their top two choices. Why? Democrats are progressive and want to change the status quo, not maintain it. Barack is the most credible to Democrats, Republicans and Independents on this issue as demonstrated by their polling and actual votes.3. Specifics. Barack has plenty of specifics. Check http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ if you doubt this statement. He doesn't talk about them in most of his speeches because initially he was told he sounded too much like a law professor (He is a lecturer for law school). Check his platform, determine if the revenues and expenses balance. Do the work and don't expect any candidate to put it all in a speech. Check his legislative record (sponsoring and voting) and see that this man has experience beyond his years. I think they are both experienced enough, but that experience in the machinations of Washington is simply not the key issue. Who had more experience than Cheney and Rumsfeld? Where has that gotten us?4. Skills. Anyone watching this campaign objectively has to conclude that Barack has far greater skills at inspiring, motivating and connecting with average Americans. Ask yourself, what does the President actually do? Remember, Congress drafts the legislation. The president sets the priorities, galvanizes the public will and negotiates tough agreements internally and internationally. His skills are clearly better suited to that task. How do we know? Look at the campaign. Look at the clarity, judgement, integrity, inspiration and motivation (e.g. MASSIVE TURNOUT) that he is creating. Whether you believe people should be responding to him, the fact is THEY ARE. That is a skill he has like no one in a generation. To deny this borders on the insincere. You may not understand it or value it, but you can't deny it. Some of it is the movement, but much of it is the man. It's not Hillary's fault, but she simply cannot compete on his level with respect to these skills and it is showing a glaring contrast.5. Execution. What has Hillary (or Obama for that matter) actually done in terms of actual execution of strategy? Not much really. They're senators and one could easily argue their current role is to propose and persuade. Who do you think is more persuasive? Show me what Hillary (or Obama for that matter) has actually done and I bet McCain or anyone a Republican would nominate has done more in terms of actual individual results. Luckily they aren't choosing a governor or that might be more of a problem for us in the fall. One good example of execution is the Obama campaign. Look what it's done. It's created a movement larger than the man. It's motivated new voters to engage in the political process in a very active way. It has won 21 of 31 states, over 200,000 more votes and raised more money in total and small donors than one of the most recognizable names in American politics. That's some serious execution. To summarize, for me, Obama has shown that he wants to fix the key problems in our system. Not just fix healthcare, but fix the mentality that's allowed the healthcare situation to get this bad. He wants to deal with our apathy and cyncism which is exactly which worries people about his candidacy. He's got sufficient specifics, but frankly, he could steal Hillary's platform and still be better executing it.The bottom line is Barack Obama offers everything important that Hillary does and substantially more. Is he a more of a risk? Maybe? But, the upside is so much more as to make this an incredibly easy risk to take for me.I wish Hillary the best, but Obama's simply a better candidate and leader.
