This new Activity Index, in my opinion has very little to do with the things I am somewhat competent in doing, which included blogging, speaking to fellow union members and behind the scenes promoting of the Democratic Party agenda.
Henceforth, I'll try to do this weekly review.
First, please check out my blog at www.southeastvirginia.blogspot.com this is titled "What IS Right for Virginia". It is more about issues facing 5th Congressional District residents, but I try to cover a variety of things.
Second, I am now a member of the South West Virginia AFL-CIO Central Labor Council. The CLC is comprised of Labor leaders from a host of Unions. The CLC makes recommendations to the VA AFL-CIO executive board concerning political actions, and educates members on issues concerning Labor.
Third, on Tuesday members of Barack Obama's Virginia campaign held a Town Hall meeting in Martinsville, VA. Oscar Ramirez the VA. policy director and long time Obama advisor Daniel Sepulveda both spoke, then answered questions from concerned residents. It was amazing to see both supporters, undecideds and even a few Republicans there.
Finally this week ended with sending a letter to the editor, which according to publisher Ginny Wray will appear Tuesday of next week refuting a Republican "Drill More" LTE.
After hearing about it and watching an interview w/ Pickens on CNBC last week, I'm starting to look very favorably on it.
Has anyone else here done research on it and formed a conclusion?
I had the opportunity this morning to meet with the team of young folks that will be staffing the Obama Campaign office in Martinsville, Va.
Enthusiastic, energetic and focused is how I would describe them. They are currently working out of the Perriello for Congress office until more space becomes available.
As a Union officer and as a local Democratic Committee member, I was pleased to offer them my support in their efforts.
The fact that the Obama camp is willing to staff an office in rural Virginia speaks volumes, and will most definitely help turn Virginia Blue in November!
What an exciting time to live and work in this area!
This is the first post on my blog here, so I want to say hello! If we aren't already friends here, shoot me an invite.
I have a blog at www.southeastvirginia.blogspot.com, and diary at DailyKos, I also post at Mid-Atlantic States Labor. I fight Republican rhetoric and fact twisting at every turn.
Just so you know, I was a John Edwards supporter turned Barack Obama supporter and I do not always agree with every stance my party takes. But, I work as a member of the Martinsville, VA Democratic Committee and VaDP as well as a Union officer in my Communications Workers of America local (CWA2277) and AFL-CIO to make a better world.
Peace to all!
