If the Republicans lose this election my guess would be that Gov. Palin would continue to work to separate Alaska from the United States for wealth and political purposes. Look at it this way; if successful she would be the President of Alaska.
May our thoughts and prayers go out to Barack Obama and his family for the loss of his grandmother. Let us continue on her spirit and make this happen. He MUST be the next President.
Let us know that she passed on knowing in her heart that things were going to be alright. She is at peace with her savior. She raised an outstanding man and should have been as proud as all of us as the man, the father, the husband, the leader that he is.
May God Bless Barack, Michelle & family.

Senator John McCain has no respect for the senior population which is trifling. He is clearly out of touch with the issues and concerns that everyday Americans have. Seniors and every other American who understands that at one point we too will be elderly are concerned with how we are going to make it. Seniors should not have to revert to survival mode in their golden years. That is an American disgrace. As Senator Obama clarified – HEALTHCARE IS A RIGHT and yes, even when faced with pre-existing conditions.
Senator McCain kept referring to viewers as his “friends”. Governor Palin in her RNC speech attempted to get people to identify with her stating that with her they would have a “friend” in the White House. Unless you are one of the chosen few that are living in a shatterproof glass house – the reality is that you are not their friend. It is time for people to be clear on the fact that not even “hockey mom’s or Joe six-packs” are their friends because they are ordinary people like you and me and in the world of McCain-Palin we simply don’t count. Obama is the change that we want and desperately need!
Having anxiously awaited the Vice Presidential Debate, I watched with an open mind ready to hear the positions of both candidates directly from their perspective. I never took for granted that Governor Palin would recover from the embarrassing collage of interviews leading up to the debate in which she proved that she is out of touch with not only mainstream politics but within her own perimeter as well.
As a woman I find myself incessantly offended by Gov. Palin’s demeanor which suggests that women should utilize female gender as a form of persuasion. Respectively both Senator Hilary Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, two women of stature, intelligence and power have not only earned respect but command it. Never have they appeared to step away from the politics and the issues at large to draw support based on congeniality.
The struggle for women’s rights is ongoing and should be taken seriously. Politics is not the place to gain undue personal spotlight in a way that is not flattering to Americans and to women. If there was any one thing that was proven in last night’s debate by Gov. Palin it was that she is uncomfortable in an arena that forces her to speak on issues for which she is not scripted. While she was a labeled as a shining star after her speech at the Republican National Convention, we must attribute that to her well prepared speech, inclusive of sarcasm, witty one-liners and mockery of critical members of society such as community organizers.
The role of the Vice President is not scripted. It is not a role that you audition for and are awarded the job if you read the “script” the best. Gov. Palin very slyly avoided answering Gwen Iffl’s questions when she did not have a scripted answer available to respond. She therefore kept swinging the dialogue back to the topic of energy in many cases, an area that she feels most comfortable. Even at one point rudely stating, "I may not answer the questions the way you want me to and the way the moderator might want, but I'm going to speak to the American people". I even found it odd that she referred to Gwen Iffl as “the moderator” and not by name.
Again, another form of disrespect not only to Gwen Iffl but to the millions of people looking on who needed to hear the answers to the question asked. Many undecided voters looked on trying to decide on who will be next to run our country. To be elusive in a public forum in today’s climate is simply irresponsible and disingenuous.
Smiling is natural and can be warming, but winking? I would expect to see excessive winking in a beauty pageant and even then is it acceptable? In my place of business, amongst my colleagues and even on the street – this is disrespectful and flirtatious behaviors are meant to change the nature of the interaction. It is also disrespectful to the media at large to refer to them as “pundits” which was repeated last night by Gov. Palin and was meant to be used in a derogatory manner against the mass media who in the recent weeks have revealed direct commentary from her in which she was unable to rely on knowledge and expertise even in areas that she should have basic if not executive level knowledge.
The Vice Presidency is not about “your” comfort zone but that of the American people that you strive to serve.
“Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future”, says Palin, however she never bothered to lay out any details of a formative plan for the future on any area including education when she made this statement.
How about this comment, “… My brother, who I think is the best school teacher in the year, and here's a shout-out to all those third graders at Gladys Wood Elementary School, you get extra credit for watching the debate”. How bias is that? If you are going to give a “shout out” per say, then why not to all of the hundreds of thousands of children out there whose parents sat with them watched and waiting to hear plans for relief and for change?
Also stated by Gov. Palin, “…your wife being a teacher for 30 years, and God bless her. Her reward is in heaven.” Is that appropriate? Is she speaking on behalf of God? More importantly is the issue that for many teachers in our country working in poor conditions, under paid and overextended, their reward stems from the premise of reaching one to teach one. The rewards are long overdue for many of our teachers, here and now.
I am not comfortable with the body language and verbiage of Gov. Palin as a Vice President hopeful or potential President. I am not seeking split personalities interacting with the American people one way and foreign leaders in another. I would therefore expect that what we see is what we get with her.
Bringing it full circle I must say that if Barack Obama as black man would have used terms such as “gosh”, “darn right”, “straight up” and/or doggone it, the public would have has a field day and characterized him as “uncouth” and probably even “ghetto” simply for having black roots. It would be made well known that his presence would be unwelcome on the forefront of handling this nation’s affairs. If Hilary Clinton was being evasive and winking, smiling and speaking casually about the nation’s position on critical issues, we as the people would see her as conceited and intellectually naïve.
Last I checked, the definition of a “maverick” was an independent person who has no allegiance to any party or group. Since they have coined this term as their motto, how does either McCain or Palin fit these criteria? Is this the true hypocrisy of their campaign?
