I am a Filipino and a resident of Canada but I have been keeping track of the US elections. Everytime Barack speaks, I cannot help but cry. He is so inspiring. I keep on wishing that I am in the US where I can just pack up my things, and go volunteer for Barack's campaign. In my own little way, I have been calling relatives in the US convincing them that Barack is the right choice. Barack is not only good for the US, he is good for the world. Americans should appreciate the power they wield The world is totally affected by what US does. I am totally convinced that if Barack is the US president, he will also do the whole world a lot of good.
I have been part of the the people power movement in the Philippines where we ousted a US-sponsored dictator who wielded power for over 20 years. At first, we thought it was impossible to oust him but one by one, people took to the streets and eventually, the movement caught on. We drove him out to Hawaii where he eventually died. We were the envy of the world. I am convinced that Americans through people power, can install Barack Obama in the White House. Don't worry about the polling numbers. Be inspired by it. If you see that Barck is lagging, it means more effort to work for him. We were against the greatest odds - we were confronted with tanks on the streets of Manila but people came in droves, with rosaries, food and flowers. We came face to face with soldiers who were instructed to run us over with their tanks and shoot us with their weapons. But we offered them food and I'd like to think that we won them over. So we won and I think this is something Americans can duplicate with Barack. For now, because I cannot vote, I will pray for the Obamas and thier supporters and send in donation with little that if left with my paycheck as a struggling new immigrant. God bless America!
