I felt that this would be the best time to create my first blog because it feels like old times. The question that has continuously been asked of this campaign is "How will you handle the swiftboating that happened to John Kerry". We are about to see. You cannot simply tell the American people that this is what is happening, you have to fight it. Some people think that the Senator is not a fighter and therefore will not be able to handle the foreign threat. Now is the time to show your fight. How?
This is politics. Stay on message by all means. Just make sure your message is being heard. You have to get the media's attention first and then your message will be heard. Negativity is at the top of the news hour. There are facts on the other side that are negative that does not require this campaign to "go negative" just to "go factual". I am not a campaign manager but just a few things that I think may be effective.
1. Do an ad on the back ground of Karl Rove since he is an influence in the McCain Campaign. Make the American people remember how ruthless this man is. Concentrate on the fact that this is devisive politics which is why we are in the trouble we are now. The polls show that the American people believe Sen. Obama is a uniter. Remind them that we need to be united to fight terrorism.
2. Do an ad on the background on the Lobbyist running the McCain campaign to show that unlike Sen. Obama, he is indebted to these people. The most important line in Sen. Obama's acceptance speech for me was "This campaign was never about me...it was about you".
3. Show how the Mayor turned Governor left her city in debt. With our deficit is this REALLY what we need?
4. Do research to find out what type of healthcare John McCain received once he returned and contrast it with what is being offered today. Show that there is a big difference from being held captive during his time to the beheadings going on today. (this is a harsh one, someone else may need to run that regarding today's tactics) But the care he received in contrast with today's is fair game. He is running on his POW experience. What has his votes been like to provide sufficient care?
5. Talk about child predators and the reasoning behind your education plans. (You HAVE to hit back on this one..HARD)
6. Put his voting record out there! Show how he is not change at all. Putting a female that believes the same as you do on your ticket doesn't make you an agent of change.
6. Remind the Republicans that if John McCain is running as the Maverick, that means that he is not going to represent their belief. Remind them that he went against their party.
7. Stop playing with Sarah Palin. Go after her. No one cares about McCain, it is all about her. That campaign cannot continue to shield her. The terrorist will not. Other foreign officials will not. You have to show that she is as devisive and irresponsible as the other Bush/McCain people.
8. Issues. Change this election back to the issues. Remind people of their bank accounts, foreclosures, Nafta, etc. Utilize that voting record. It is not there for decoration.
GO FACTUAL!!! GO HARD!!! I see the Republican party packing that boat and trying to put this ticket on it to sail.
