Over the last week, the North County Democratic Party office has become a busy place. Fellows, volunteers and activists come and go, planning and coordinating voter registration drives, and local events, and getting the office ready for its public debut celebration on June 29th.
But the long narrow office in a strip mall with its mature carpeting and its four small office/cubicles and back room covered in precinct maps and Obama signs wasn't always a political hotbed. Or maybe it was. I guess it depends on how you define hotbed. If you look closely, you can see some of the tell-tale signs.
What a wild ride this has been so far. I can't imagine how McCain can be more formidable than the slate of potential candidates we overcame to get the nomination. The no nonsense way the Obama campaign took the reins of the DNC says a lot about the leadership potential of an Obama administration. It lets voters know that a new administration would take the same kind of action in Washington.
I can hear it now. "You can even take the "w" key off your government supplied-keyboard no questions asked. Just as long as you get out quickly and don't destroy any documents."
