The mugger story knocked this off the radar this morning. It's critical that we put it back on. McCain is clearly educating the audience about what any schooled person knows. This nation in the past 100 years was built with progressive taxation, and this cynical, Joe the Plumber stupidity is as wrong as it is hypocritcal.

Background: Carter was leading by about 10 points, 8 days before the 1980 election. One "Amy" remark, and "Are you better off now than 4 years ago?" in the final debate, and Reagan won by a landslide. Surprises do work. We need to warn people to be wary of this.

This "Share the wealth" remark was precisely the wrong thing to say. Republicans have used socialist rhetoric and ideas to flog liberals for 80 years. This was not the time to even get near it, but it's too late now. They are now using it relentlessly all over the internet.
And the Robocalls about Ayers are everywhere. I have gotten 2 already. They are very ugly, and getting huge attention now. The chat rooms and social nets are just littered with this crap now.
I think obama should spend some money on ads that mock the idea that the McCain camp would try to fool people with such incendiary lies and distortions. They must be ads that, like "fightthesmears.com," themselves get a lot of coverage in the media.

Obama's ads are completely lost in the noise now
The media is constantly discussing how Palin is "just like the simple voters." She ran asmall business, don'tcha know?. She feels you pain. Oh, and she's now a wall street reformer too.
The only commercials that are going to be worth a damn are ads that say "Let's review how many lies you've been told in the past 8 years? WHen do you say, ENOUGH?" When do you stop buying the same promises Bush gave you, and now you're hearing from McCain? Do you think you're as stupid as THEY thinik you are?
Obviously, you can't say that, but good ad teams can imply it. It's just time to make the public face the fact that they continually vote against their interests. They don't care about issues. We know this. Maybe they will care about their self image.
Biden said the right things today on the stump, about the same old Bush promises, but they had better start saying it in commercials, or the independents will start flocking to McCain.
All this money raised, and his ads are duller than what you'd expect from a County Executive's race. And the AIP swiftboat ads start next week.
Something better change fast, or we're going to wake up to President Palin. Then we're all in very deep doo. And I don't mean her hair.
Obama is on now, hitting the idiotic "lipstick" thing out of the park. But damn it, he has to stay on this every hour. Make americans feel fooling falling for this noise every day. Put mccain on the spot, and force him to apologize for his own manipulations.
We have to turn their tactics against them, and there's not much time.

Week after week, McCain's ads just slam us into the dirt. Week after week, obama's team gives them free throws like bitterness, seals, and now lipstick on a pig. That was such an obvious thing to avoid, we were discussing it a week ago in chat rooms, wondering if Obama would be stupid enough to use it, knowing how republicans will use ANYTHING.
Meanwhile, their ad team just hones in for the kill, while Obama is running the same tired McCain is Bush ads which stopped working months ago.
If they don't bring in an advertising A-team fast, this game is over. I am seeing that same resigned to failure attitude kerry had, setting in, and it's infecting the party, the voters, and the campaign.
It's not too late, but if Obama doesn't start running ads, mocking voters who fall for the McCain/Palin distractions, it's going to be far too late. Republicans are simply no longer interested in correcting lies, so carping on them is pointless. They don't care. Their voters don't care. The media doesn't care.
Our only hope is hard hitting ads that mock people who "Want to be fooled again." We have to make it stylish to not be a sheep.
