I was reading about various states purging vote registration rolls and it reminded me of a story I read about earlier this year where 10,000 names were purged from the rolls in one district in Madison county: http://missthirddistrict.blogspot.com/2008/03/madison-voter-purge.html This one person actually had the power to act on her own to do this, and even purged a candidate and his wife! That is ridiculous.
I also found a story that I missed in July about a plan for a massive two-year purge of inactive voters in the county. It was to have been conducted by mail, and the plan was scrapped because it may not be legal. http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080722/NEWS/807220372/1001/news
Rather than focus on the Sarah Palin soap opera, it's probably more constructive for us to focus on voter registration. Please make sure that your voter registration info is current with your correct name (if you got married or divorced) and your correct address. And if you haven't voted in a while, make sure that you haven't been purged already. You can verify your voter registration information here: https://www.voteforchange.com
Please spread the word.
After watching that KKK rally AKA the Republican National Convention this week, I am motivated to take a more active role in the campaign. I've made several donations, but now I want to help with voter registration drives and whatever else will fit into my schedule.
Sarah Palin's speech was one of the most nasty displays of political pandering that I have ever seen. I guess they thought it was cute because she's a woman. After all the flack that Hillary Clinton caught during her campaign, suddenly all these crusty old Republicans - Giuliani( the incestuous adulterer who had his mistress in Gracie Mansion while his wife still lived there) Fred Thompson (with his young trophy wife) and McCain ( who left his disabled first wife to marry the beer heiress rodeo queen)- are taking on the media for being disrespectful to a woman. Now that is rich. How dare the media question her credentials when she's only been governor of a state with 700,000 people for 20 months!
Anyhoo, I don't want to get sidetracked by the Pit Bull in a skirt. This election is about the future of our country, and we simply cannot afford another four years under a Republican administration.
