For those of you who thought you had the market on prejudice in your home state, how about this piece of work on my Obama sign here in beautiful St. Helens, OR? Done in the middle of the night by an obviously brave and dedicated bigot, this is a prime example how ignorance is handed down from one generation to the next. I do know one thing, I've learned in my 58 years that there is no such thing as an intelligent or brave bigot. It's dead of night with spray paint. Just another example of how ignorance, cowardice and bigotry go hand in hand.
PS- the sign has been restored, and these idiots are about to be dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming. Let's shine a light in their dark little corners. VOTE OBAMA!!
Why don't I see anyone holding John McCain responsible for things that happened when HE was just a boy?
Does no one remember Atilla the Hun? Or the genocide of the builders of Stonehenge? Or the disappearance of the tribes of South America? Did McCane know those people personally or just live through those times?
Submitted to the Oregonian newspaper:
With the Presidential election fast approaching, McCain has hit the panic button. The negative ads are not designed to sway voters to their side, they are designed to discourage voters from showing up at all. When a pundit tells you that negative ads work, this is what they mean. People are turned off by the negativity and begin to associate both sides as crooks and liars, even though one side is obviously attacking and the other is clearly defending itself.
Republicans see this as a valid strategy and will vote anyway. Democrats and independents see it as repugnant behavior and many refuse to participate. This, and putting themselves in positions where they can omit a percentage of opposition voters, is the true base of the corrupt power we suffer today. It is how the Republican party remains competitive even though they are the smaller party nationally.
Throw in the racially-challenged idiots who refuse to evolve with society, voting machines that will complete the coup if McCain can get it to appear close enough, a main stream media that sells airtime on the premise that the race is close, and a current President that is positioning himself to declare martial law if he can create the right scenario, and what you have is an apparent lose-lose situation.
In the face of all that, I will vote for Obama, none-the-less. I don't just owe it to my daughter and her generation, I owe it to all those generations before who sacrificed so much to get us this far. People will only put up with these transgressions as long as they have personal security. When that security is gone, so is the need to play along.
As Thomas Jefferson said, revolution is not just a right in America, it is the responsibility of a true patriot when the government ceases to be a reflection of the will of the people.
Vote for a peaceful revolution. Vote Obama.
In the first debate, I kept noticing McCain shielding his eyes to the lights and searching for someone out in the audience. At the time I found this to be very weird behavior.
Last night in the second debate, McCain this time came to the front of the stage, while Barack was talking, stared off into the audience through the lights and raised his hand in a gesture of "what's happenning". This time the weird behavior brings on a feeling of suspicion.
Is the old man using the hearing aid as a debate tool? I not only think that he doesn't have an original thought in his head, but he actually needs someone to remind him of what the old thoughts are through direct communication during a debate.
Review the tape. Both incidents are blatant, the second one being a real "out-there" moment where McCain obviously believed that he was off camera since Barack had the floor.
I do not write this in some Rovian effort to attack John McCain on his supposed strength, but rather because I tire of the myth that is John McCain.
When someone acts in a way that is above and beyond the call of duty in the defense of his/her country or fellow servicemen, with little or no regard for his/her personal safety, that person is a hero. One can say that anyone who has met the enemy in combat is a brave person, but a hero is a step beyond that.
That John McCain was taken prisoner is a story of personal tragedy. That he was tortured is a story of outrage. But that having been said, he is not a hero.
The fact that he did cooperate with his captors is a matter of record and, in the same position, you and I might have done the same. But the fact remains that being held prisoner in a war does not qualify one as being a hero. Making a concious, (or unconcious some would say), decision to sacrifice life and limb in an effort save the lives of others is completely different than being captured and held prisoner.
Sorry John. You're a brave man in my book. But you're not a hero.
Is there any truth to the rumor that Ms. Buchanan had a breakdown last night on Larry King?
According to my sources, she began to laugh uncontrollably after having to defend Sarah Palin's answers to Katie Couric's questions. Witnesses said it was an almost painful psychotic laugh.
The second time, after comments by James Carville, her eyes began to water, and she started to gag.
On the final round, after extolling the views of the Alaskan Governor, Ms. Buchanan supposedly threw up offstage and went into a foaming fit. She had to be sedated and held down to keep her from harming herself. She was said to be shouting, "she's the best he could find?!", over and over again.
After a ten minute meeting with Rush Limbaugh, she appears to be acting much more subdued and lucid, and although she is slurring her words more than usual, she will be back on the circuit in no time, according to those closest to her who asked to remain unnamed.
Picking today's winner of the King George Imbecile of the Day Award is not going to be easy. I know that we have to wait until after the debate tonight to give Alaska's governor her long awaited shot at the title, but the trolls today are uncommonly unintelligent, even by their standards.
As we wind down these last days of their candidate's hopes for stemming the tide of a full-blown landslide, the faithfully delusional fans of McSame and his incredibly shallow sidekick become ever more outspoken, kind of like a group of auctioneers in quicksand. Humorous and sad at the same time.
Please do not chastise them. Only those who have a solid grip on reality should be made to suffer for their convictions, and obviously they do not rise to that standard. No, let them vent. Losing this contest by such a wide margin must be humilliating. Try to imagine yourself in their place- you have lied to everyone about everything for eight years, and you're just now finding out that no one believes you anymore.
They do not deserve our trust, but we can have pity on them.
There are many out there, medical and otherwise, who have recognized that McCain's appearance yesterday showed signs of having had a mini-stroke. This is being speculated as the true reason for his suspension of his campaign.
I hope the old coot is OK, but it certainly brings his ability to serve into question, not to mention his VP's weaknesses as a standalone candidate.
Jamie Drogan and Thomas Kelly, whoever they are, have figured out or been given permission to post with a fabricated time of posting which allows their message to stay in the first position all day long. I have seen this done a couple of times in the last months.
What a great idea!! I will contact my friends, who are internet geniuses, and find out how it is done. Then I will post the method to everyone. Fantastic!!
Can you just imagine? Not just the priviledged or sneaky, but everyone will be able to freeze their post onto the blog ALL DAY LONG!! We won't have to communicate with each other anymore. Just post one message, and BAM!! All messages will stack instead of shuffle through.
Or better yet, why don't we all just have the Drogan's and Kelly's do all the blogging. Just give us access to read it. They are obviously more important and better connected than the rest of us anyway.
What a bunch of eliteist crap.
All I get when I try to see the blog is "Down for Maintenance".
Are they going to put it back up when there are two people at the top of the ticket? Are they keeping it down until they can get the picture of the new VP on it? HMMMMM.
Why is this fascist, dry-drunk, pseudo-Christian imbecile trying to provoke a fight with Russia? Does he really believe that he is the one to bring on the end of life on this planet?
Russia didn't start the war in Georgia. Georgia's President did. He signed a cease-fire on Aug. 7th and attacked South Ossetia later that same night at the urging of George the Imbecile.
Russia called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to condemn the violence, and guess who stopped that resolution. That's right. George the Imbecile!
If Russia wanted to re-colonize Georgia, it would be a done deal. No contest there.
This is an attempt to convince other ex-Soviet satellite countries to join Poland in putting up missle sites around Russia by claiming they are the "evil empire" of the cold war days.
Russia has let it be known that they will not allow US missles on their borders. Period. And unlike Bush the Imbecile, I don't see Putin as the kind of leader that issues empty threats.
This is tragedy in it's early stages. Either Bush the Imbecile is made to back off or we face the ultimate price for Bush the Imbecile's bent vision of our future. (Mutually assured destruction!)
Gloom and doom. Oh, the polls, the polls. Look out. Here comes McShame. Oh no, Hillary's making another run. Blah, blah, blah.
Meanwhile, a Republican congressman from Tennessee just lost his primary. First time in forty years. Why? Because he was seen as too close to big oil companies.
Real people doing real things regardless of what they are being told by the media and the polls.
Imagine that.
Yes, WE can.
We've got a bumbling old codger on one side with a wealthy warchest provided by big business that is threatened by change, and a primary loser on the other side backed by a few very vocal hangers-on, and the media reporting it all from a jaded perspective that seeks to make as much money as possible by presenting it all as dramatically as possible.
And here we are, in the middle, panicking at every loud noise in the night. Calm down, people.
The convention will pass. Hillary will, again, pass. Debates will happen. McCain will show his ineptness and not all the money in the world can make him stand on a stage with Barack and not look like a complete moron.
Don't believe me? Check out his ramblings at the biker convention. What a moron.
As I reported last week, my sign was stolen from out of my pasture in the dead of night. It was my fault, actually. The dogs did their duty and made plenty of noise to warn me, but I didn't suspect that they were barking at idiots in the pasture. I thought it was a racoon, coyote or bobcat. (More like a skunk!)
Well anyway, in a private ceremony held yesterday, with a christening of Sierra Pale Ale, the new sign was hung for all to see.
We here on this little farmland are determined to stop the ascension of John McCain to the throne of King George, the Imbecile. To that end, we: my wife and I, our daughter, two horses, three dogs, eight chickens and a cat, have formed a new alliance.
It is called: the Organization of Brotherhood Against the McCain Ascension, or OBAMA, for short.
Behold the new sign. A full 4' x 8' statement along a locally busy country road.
It will be protected day and night and violations against it will be met with a swift paintball in the ass. (I bought a used paintball gun on ebay just for such an occasion, an idea that was smiled at by the local police.)
Yes, WE can!
King George, the Imbecile

The focus has shifted on the 3am phone call.
Now, it's who would wake McCain from his 3pm nap.
Much better yet, why not elect Obama and not have to worry about any 3am calls.
I couldn't help but to notice the news ticker scroling across the top of my screen as having a headline of "Mexican immigrant, beaten to death by four youths, exposes racial tensions".
Wrong again, my journalistic sages. The beating death of the man who has lived here for six years is the result of racial bigotry and ignorance. (Yes, I know that is redundant.)
But again we see where, even in the everyday newswire reports, our culture is shown to be one that focuses on our collective wrongs and idiocies rather than reporting the facts and letting the reader decide the reasons. These kids obviously were raised by parents that spoke ill of immigrants at the dinner table, and are the blame for this repulsive attitude.
The actions of a few radical assholes is nonetheless being portrayed as an undercurrent in our society. They are exactly what they appear to be; a group of young bigoted thugs acting outside the law, and not representative of some larger movement afoot. Idiots and bigots are a shrinking number in our nation, but because they do such outrageous acts, they get a lot of attention.
Don't try to sell me on the fact that racial tensions in America are higher just because a few criminals commit murder. It doesn't equate. They are the exception, not the rule.
Wow. The blogger "Obamaforhispanics" first posts about our need to support Nader over Barack, and now returns to ask why this campaign is slipping and how he doesn't get it.
How tricky is that. What an intelligent troll he must be. (NOT)
How completely fickle does he think we are?
Get a life, bud. (Or a job, or a girlfriend, or whatever.) Just don't expect us to take you seriously.
We've seen a few smart trolls on this blog. You're not one of them.
As I posted the other day, some local neocon yahoos decided to steal my Obama pasture sign, pictured below. Do they really think that they can stop me from showing my political intentions?
NOW, A SNEAK PEEK AT THE NEW, AND SOMEWHAT IMPROVED SIGN, WHICH WILL BE GOING UP IN A FEW DAYS AT A PRIVATE CEREMONY! IT'S BIGGER, SOMEWHAT BETTER AND THE DOGS AND I HAVE A FEW SURPRISES ALSO TO BE DISCOVERED.
