I live with my parents - they are in the space between Medicare and Medicaid - too rich (right) to qualify for affordable home nursing care, and too poor to pay for it themselves. SO I am here to help... As I understand it, with the new health care plan, they will definitely benefit. Unfortunately, I will not. I am a self employed Author/Artist/Illustrator/Graphic Artist/Teacher and care giver (yes, all that to make ends meet here in good old Ohio) and I have to buy my own health care. I am profoundly disappointed that freelancers/self-employeed are the ones that will see their health care costs RISE. What could possibly be the advantage of making a scapegoat of the very people who are primed to create jobs for others, who are the innovators, the "backbone", where all big companies start? Please Explain.
Sincerely, LisaLi

I am so inspired!
Both of my midwesternized parents were hesitant at the start of the election and when I started volunteering my dad was a bit of a "fussbudget" but now all four elderly eyeballs are trained on the Boob tube, all conversation is garnished by change nuggets, and hope seems possible. My mother was disgusted with Bush and lamented the fact that our generation had no one to look up to... Now we do!
Wish I was going to the celebration!

Ok, I am sure there is going to be some mudslinging tonight! Look at those faces, making their points and standing their ground...
But... I have an alternate attitude... From my Friend Marty. Here is her email from the other day."In addition to participating in grassroots efforts (registering and phoning voters, etc.) and making financial contributions (if you can), repeat this affirmation: "President Obama, President Obama, President Obama". Say it every day. See him in the White House. See Michelle as our First Lady. Look at photos like the ones below to strengthen this vision. Don't strengthen the opponents by giving them undue attention. Shift your focus towards who and what we want, not towards what we don't want. "
Boy Does she ever have it right! Watch the debate tonight, but be sure to send as much positivity to the participants, the nation and the world that you can muster!
Enjoy the Adventure!

Friends:Check out http://womenagainstsarahpalin.blogspot.com/Below is the letter that started it. If you agree with it, please consider sending it to like-minded women and also sending a short e-mail with your age and location to the letter's originators at womensaynopalin@gmail.com.Mary AnnTHE ORIGINAL CALL TO ACTION Friends and compatriots,We are writing to you because of the fury and dread we have felt since the announcement of Sarah Palin as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Republican Party. We believe that this terrible decision has surpassed mere partisanship, and that it is a dangerous farce—on the part of a pandering and rudderless Presidential candidate—that has a real possibility of becoming fact.Perhaps like us, as American women, you share the fear of what Ms. Palin and her professed beliefs and proven record could lead to for ourselves and for our present and future daughters. To date, she is against a woman's right to choose, environmental protection, alternative energy development, freedom of speech (as mayor she repeatedly brought up the question of banning books), gun control, the separation of church and state, and polar bears. We want to clarify that we are not against Sarah Palin as a woman, a mother, or, for that matter, a parent of a pregnant teenager, but solely as a rash, incompetent, and all together devastating choice for Vice President. Ms. Palin's political views are in every way a slap in the face to the accomplishments that our mothers and grandmothers so fiercely fought for, and that we've so demonstrably benefited from.First and foremost, Ms. Palin does not represent us. She does not demonstrate or uphold our interests as American women. It is presumed that the inclusion of a woman on the Republican ticket could win over women voters. We want to disagree, publicly. Therefore, we invite you to reply here with a short, succinct message about why you, as a woman living in this country, do not support this candidate as second-in-command for our nation. Please include your name (last initial is fine), age, and place of residence. We will post your responses on a blog called "Women Against Sarah Palin," which we intend to publicize as widely as possible. Please send us your reply at your earliest convenience-the greater the volume of responses we receive, the stronger our message will be.Thank you for your time and action.VIVA!Sincerely,Quinn L. and Lyra K.New York, NYwomensaynopalin@gmail.com
Stitchers for Obama
Imagine my delight when I found that the Democratic Club I joined was the only one in our county with the donkey kicking as the logo. No roses for us! No little goofy little donkey standing still, nope, we are action political nerds! (sorry to Christopher Moore!) Our Donkey is bucking and the slogan that appears on our part of the site is: "Vote Democratic, the (picture of a Donkey) you save may be your own".
Delightful Folks! Join you nearest club and help us out!

Now, I am not the community organizer type, but I have been sitting here behind my computer percolating with a vengeance. Percolating ideas... Money making ideas... Having fun ideas... Getting Barak Elected ideas...Announcing! The new Stitchers for Obama Group!Gather around creative stitchers, be ye of the quilting clan or the embroiders league, gather new and old stitchers, pick up your needles and... STITCH! This is a group of fund raisers centered on fiber creativistas! The first order of business is to stitch a shirt. I have designed several nice shirts and have them for sale over at café press. They are the height of DIY! The lovely pattern printed on the shirt really needs nothing more than you to wear it and show the world that you love to stitch, but if you are in the mood, (and I am sure you are) to make it your own, use it as an embroidery pattern and embellish the shirt with stitches! Our blog is sponsoring a contest with the proceeds going to the Obama campaign. Buy one of these shirts listed on the blog and embellish it using the guides on the shirt, or do your own design.
Go here t get one: http://www.cafepress.com/wildspiritarts/5931503
We will have two winners, first the person who most beautifully uses the provided designs and second to the person who most beautifully creates his/her own design. All designs must have the Obama logo and be one of a kind (ooak) pieces of fabric art. You can paint, stitch, sew, embellish, distress, and craft to your hearts delight, wear it, take a pix and Upload it to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stitchersforobama. If you are not the joining type, email our group and one of us will help you with the technical stuff. The way café press works is that you design the art and then tack on 2 dollars, they print it, package it, and send it to the person who buys it. So we will give the 2 bucks we make Towards Getting Mr. O elected, its a great investment!
Stay tuned here for more info!
Oh! Our blog...http://stitchersforobama.blogspot.com
Dear President Obama and Family, You were wonderful last night!
My mother has often lamented that our generation didn’t have politicians that we could look up to as she did with Kennedy... well, in you, I think we just might! Finally!
I have returned home to live with my folks because they needed more help than we could afford and no one could figure out the meds, the forms, the maze that is our medical system. We are the lucky ones! They had a daughter that could do this, many older Americans don’t have the luxury of... ME! (Grin)
I am a small business owner and have suffered the trauma of trying to get health insurance for myself without a “real” job, I can only imagine what others with challenging medical conditions go through. Thank you so much for your work in this very important arena and GOOD LUCK!I am curious, what plans do you have for supporting the arts in our grand and creative country?
