During this season of rebirth and renewal it is a wonderful thing that Barack Obama is in the process of solidifying his lead of the nomination of the Democratic party for the President of the United States of America! I have throughly enjoyed following the progress and been surprising myself with my williness to financially and personally support the nomination process. I like many others, have never really supported a political candidate with such intensity before. My adult children are quite pleased with my interest as well. It has been a new development in my life. I find myself soul searching my core beliefs about race, gender, and economic standing and feel challenged by the campaign's premise to unite all points of view for the good of all Americans. It is truely a chance for us to forge together healthy change. Barack states that change comes from the bottom up. I honestly agree. I also know for myself change comes when I am willing to be honest with myself about what is true for me. It is in some ways freeing to step away from predijuce and buried messages of my past that aren't loving or accepting. I think the work for some of us older Americans begins with honesty with ourselves and then choosing to be generous with our attitude shift towards all of us in the community. Letting go of fear of others that is leftover from my childhood and from my upbringing that was right of center. I think that my faith in God plays a huge job in forgiving myself and having room to step beyond these issues. In other words I would like to walk out the ideals of honesty, concern for my suffering fellow americans, and have the politics in this nation operate from similar principles. Best wishes from the Green Mountain State!

We have had two meetings at our house in order to organize after the election of Barack Obama,as our new President. We are interested to support the change that is needed with regards to the economy, healthcare, and global warming and energy independence. Last meeting we shared our stories about the economy and our lives. We got to know new members and we realized we have similar concerns about sustainable agriculture, energy independence and the need for jobs to be opened up for some of us who are unemployed. We discussed having a lighter footprint on the earth in the way we live so as to lessen global warming and dependence on foreign oil. It was a good mtg. We all wanted to continue what we have started with OFA.
