WAKE UP PEOPLE!
Look there comes a time when the quiet, the on the sideline people need to wake up and take a good look at what is going on.
The saying, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything, is certainly relevant in this campaign. What does it say about a party who would rather bear false witness on their opponent than stay on the issues that affect the American people? Did I not hear both McCain and Palin profess to be Christians? Then as such, how can they with good conscience and a straight face MOCK Senator Obama with the personal attacks they have?
While there have been many ‘bold face lies’ told by McCain, Palin, Lieberman, Graham, Rudy G., Romney, Huckabee and many others, one lie I want to pursue is the issue of the community organizers.
When I sat there in disbelief seeing the people at the republican convention mocking Senator Obama for his dedicated service to being a community organizer, I asked what has this world come to?
Ignorance was certainly bliss in that convention. The people either had no idea what a community organizer was or they were caught up in the smoke that Guilianni and Palin was blowing and could not see the ignorance of their action. What was missing in that convention was the diversity of people representing the Republican Party?
How many times has the news media criticized Obama for not being able to ‘close the deal’ with the white people? Well, tell me why there is no criticism of McCain for the blatantly noticeable absence of an appeal to the black community. This double standard is the reason we must WAKE UP PEOPLE.
Working as a community organizer has more appeal to me in that the person on the ground, working in the trenches, sees first hand how the people are suffering. McCain and Palin and all those arrogant Republicans demonstrated with the highest level of emphasis that they do not know, understand or even care about the people who are suffering in those parts. Not only that, they don’t see the need to be concerned because they feel that people in those areas are not going to vote anyway; so why bother. WAKE UP PEOPLE.
If the republicans cared about you, there is no way they would have mocked Obama because Obama cared enough to work in that area. Not only that, what does it say about McCain in his decision to choose Palin who is the Governor of a "WHTIE" state? How can she even address the issues of the black community when she has not had to deal with them? I am sure there are some black people in Alaska, but how many? And of those there, how many are stationed there as part of their military duty. I know there is an Airforce base in Alaska, but just how many black citizens are there? There is a lot missing from this McCain-Palin ticket and nobody wants to look at the big issue right in front of his or her face. WAKE UP PEOPLE.
When it comes to being the Vice President of this country, I could care less about her being a female. I could care less about her being a Governor. I could care less about her being a mother of five. What I do care about is how truthful she speaks. I am crazy enough to think that integrity should be a number one characteristic of our president and vice president. Integrity means you tell the truth; plan and simple. You don’t exaggerate it and you don’t mislead. Palin stated she put the airplane on ebay. John McCain said she sold it and made a profit. She told a convenient half-truth because she knew people would respond to that. But she didn’t tell how it didn’t sale and that it actually sold off ebay for a loss. McCain boldly said it sold at a profit. So, what happened? Did John McCain simply tell a bold face lie; or did Sarah Palin simply tell a ‘lie by omission’? Either way, this is not the example our future leaders should be setting.
Everybody makes mistakes and being under the pressure they are under, I understand that they may make an inaccurate statement from time to time. But there is a big difference. WAKE UP PEOPLE. This election is too important to let the games, spins and bold face lies of the Republican Party cause us to continue down the road we have been on for the last eight years.
WAKE UP PEOPLE.
John McCain keeps saying ‘the surge worked, the surged worked’! REALLY! On the surface, it worked to decrease the number of troops being killed. GOOD. But I raise the question that if the surge really worked, why aren’t the troops coming home. That is the only measure we should consider in measuring the success of the surge. But another more important fact has been birthed as a result of this surge issue. I saw Obama in a new light. This man has the judgment to look to the future. He said that in order to say the surge worked, we have to also be able to say it fulfilled it purpose in its entirety. That means the political reconciliation must have also occurred. That means the leadership of Iraq and surrounding countries must reconcile there differences to ensure this fight would not reoccur. John McCain does not get it despite all his military "experience". Barack Obama has the judgment to see the big picture and look at what needs to be done to permanently fix the problem rather than put a McCain-Palin bandage on it. WAKE UP PEOPLE.
I just hope that people will educate themselves in this election. The price to pay will be far greater than any loss job, health care or foreclosure. It’s a matter of life versus existence. If the average person wants a good life in which the playing field is more neutral and they have a CHANCE even to make it; then they need to see what Obama-stands for. If the average person wants to simply exist at the hands of a wealthy first society and you do the best you can on your own; then McCain-Palin is your team. WAKE UP PEOPLE.
John McCain – Possibly a great Defense Liaison, Ambassador or Secretary of Defense; but Not the President of the United States of America
John McCain acted and sounded like he was running for General of the World rather than president of the United States. Everything he responded to involved some reference to his unfortunate POW experience. I can’t help but wonder whether he has anything RECENT to say about himself. I for one, am tired of hearing about his POW situation. It happened. It was unfortunate, but it was so many years ago and just like General Wesley Clark said, his POW experience does not make him qualified to be president. If he was telling a story of how many of his fellow soldiers were captured in Vietnam and HE was the one who came up with the plan to free them or HE was the one who lead a unit to rescue them or HE was the one who proved the US could stand against an enemy in their own back yard, then I would be one who would stand up and say this is our man!
But he didn’t, he wasn’t and he isn’t!
John McCain is a military man, make no mistake. But sometimes I get the feeling he has to prove a point with his family because he did not make the ranks as his other family members. He has to ‘see their admiral position and raise them a president position.’
Practically every answer John McCain gave last night included some reference to his being a POW. But I wonder if the American people really want a president who will be talking about that POW experience for the next 4 years? I don’t. I say, enough already.
McCain has proven to me that he would be a reactionary leader and not a visionary leader. That’s what military people do. They react to situations once a command decision has been made. He hasn’t made the command decisions; he has reacted to them.
With all his ‘experience’, he did not vote against the war. He did not recognize that Saddam Hussain at that time was not our threat to another attack on America. His ‘experience’ lacked the discernment of understanding what was really at stake after 9-11. He did not stand up and say this is the wrong fight! He reacted to a bold face lie coming from the commander in chief.
There were no weapons of mass destruction. He has been quick to boast about all his trips to Iraq, but I want to know did he go to Iraq before he voted for the war? Did he stand up and say, President Bush, I think we should verify these weapons of mass destruction before we put our military in harms way? Did he volunteer to go there and see for himself…did he send Lindsay Graham or Joe Lieberman? No, he went along with the bold face lie. He is a reactionary leader, not a visionary leader.
His response to the question about evil in the world was a clear-cut example of how everything he thinks of is associated with a war or a fight. He said you had to ‘defeat’ evil. If he knew his bible as that saved Christian he professed to be, he would understand that evil will not be defeated until the Lord comes back. He latched on to that concept to say if he had to go to the gates of Hell, he would get Bin Laden. WOW! What a line to feed the American people. But he did his applause. Why didn’t he go to the gate right after 9-11 with all his experience and get him then? Just think, if he had done that…we all would be hailing him, especially those family members of the 4000+ soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq. That response was reactionary, not visionary.
He has boasted of his ‘experience’ in being in Washington for 20+ years. Yet, in all that time, did he beat his hand and point his finger as he is doing now when he says, "we have to start off shore drilling and we have to do it now?" No, he did not years ago and now that gas has been over $4.00 per gallon and will probably go higher, he is stern, he is forceful, he is…..reactionary. His ‘experience’ lacked the discernment of understanding that at $2.00 per gallon, gas would probably go much higher in the years to come. He did not stand up and say our dependency on foreign oil is wrong. We have oil here in the United States. We should start now because it will take seven to ten years for this oil to impact the price of gas. He is now demonstrating his experience in reacting to a crisis.
Did he go out to the oil companies and ‘demand’ that they start developing alternative sources of energy because the people were suffering during those 20+ years of Washington politics? Did he send out a group of people to access the situation? No, he did not.
So, I can’t help but wonder if the American people really understand what John McCain represent? His experience could prove to be exceptional as a commanding general in a war. The problem with this situation is that being president of the United States is not all about leading in a war. I fear, with a great degree of apprehension, that if John McCain is elected President, we will be in war after war after war. He will flex his muscles and declare over and over again, "I know how to fight wars, I know how to win them." That’s all well and good if that is all he plans on doing. Will we have to stay in a national conflict with some country…any country so that he can be a good president amplifying his great ‘experience’? Was that the real meaning of him saying we could be in Iraq for a hundred years?
I can’t speak for anyone except myself, but I do not want what he is offering. I hope the American people will really look at the two candidates and make a true assessment of what is really at stake.
Barack Obama is a visionary leader. He is putting together plans that will impact future generations. He is not focused on what will put a bandage on a problem that started years ago in which no one addressed. He has demonstrated a calm and rational approach to the problems we face, both at home and abroad. He has a genuine desire to solve problems peacefully and with cooperation of other world leaders. Barack is a leader willing to take the tough stand for peace rather than the reactionary stand of fight, fight, fight.
I believe Barack Obama will make wise decisions as a result of detailed analysis of the situation from many perspectives. John McCain will do what he decides based on his ‘experience’. That concept is again frightening because he is emphasizing that he ‘knows it all’ already.
No first term candidate can say they have the ‘experience’ to be president. The only way you can claim experience is when you can honestly list that job description on your resume as being a position previously held. So, the experience factor is not what he tries to make it out to be.
One last point. John McCain is allowing his campaign, surrogates, pundits and back room flunkies to portray Barack Obama as an elitist. Look, how can a man who wears $500+ shoes call another person an elitist? Get real. John McCain cannot relate to me or anyone like me. He doesn’t feel the pain of the American people. And you can’t go around faking it.
He has no idea what it feels like to have your lights turned off and your food spoil because you didn’t have enough to pay the light bill and buy gas to go to work. You can’t loose your job, so you sleep in the dark until that next paycheck.
He has no idea what it feels like to have your mother aching in pain because she doesn’t have enough money to buy the overpriced medicine that the doctor has prescribed.
Now, I can accept the fact that he has been fortunate enough to not have ever experienced any of those situations, but my objection to John McCain’s bogus words is that he has never spent any significant time with anyone in these situations either. That, my friend, is called being out of touch with the average American person. (His maids and hired help do not count).
On this point, I don’t know the answer, but I would like to know how many times did John McCain go to New Orleans when Katrina hit? Did he go as many times to New Orleans as he did to Iraq? War leader not domestic leader.
With his POW experience and his 20+ years of experience in Washington, I believe John McCain could possibly be a great Defense liaison, ambassador or Secretary of Defense; but NOT the PRESIDENT of the United States of America.
